Gold Ardoxshoth
Written by Uta

Origin of Name: This queen takes her name from the Kushan goddess of Wealth, Ardoxsho. She can be found on an ancient coin, backed with a Shaka king who ruled circa 325-345 A.D.

Inspiration: The Deadly Sin of Greed

Greed (Latin: avaritia), also known as avarice, cupidity, or covetousness, is, like lust and gluttony, a sin of desire. However, greed (as seen by the Church) is applied to an artificial, rapacious desire and pursuit of material possessions.

Personality: Mine. Mine. Mine. Ardoxshoth's motto tends to be whatever she wants, she gets--and you had best believe that this little queen wants it all. As different from her sister as night and day, there is no off-button when it comes to this queen. She is a gold who knows she is royalty, and while she is well aware there is very little chance she will be the one to do the ruling, she will never forget that she is still a queen, and expects other dragons to respond accordingly. That said, it isn't power and responsibility that Adroxshoth craves--but things. The best things marks can buy, and then some... but even then, she'll take the junk, too. If something catches her eye, no matter whether she needs it or not, this queen will want it, and won't stop until it is hers. And if she can't lure such riches by her hide color and position as a queen alone, she has every expectation that her loyal clutchmates and favored coterie will be more than happy to get it for her.

Money might not buy happiness, but Ardoxshoth is well aware that it can make life easier and more worthwhile. It can open doors that were previously closed, and can sweep away stress and worry to allow ease-of-mind. Besides which, if money wasn't akin to power, than why do the Lords of the land have such fineries, and drudges nothing but rags? Money talks, and being responsible with nes power is incredibly over rated. Let Zheria and Olliah run the show, or whoever comes after--Ardoxshoth would rather be pampered as the queen she is than all that. She has power enough, after all, without fighting for some title--and she will expect to have more than her fair share--and always want more. This queen might have the best of everything, and demand more still. If her rider isn't firm, she will have no trouble hunting more than she should just because she can; she will always demand more attention, more expensive straps, and more baubles, trinkets, and things than a dragon would ever have any need for! She wants it, not because she needs it, but because she believes she (and in turn her rider) deserve it.

Covetous to the extreme, Ardoxshoth isn't known to share. To complicate matters, she will get irritable when someone, or something, does not automatically become hers. Should a green sister of hers get a choice cut of meat, and should said sister not give it to her, or should her rider not get her a larger, more expensive cut--she will throw a tantrum or pout at best, or simply command someone to give up what is theirs at worst. Her desires aren't always limited to material things, either. She will consider her friends hers and likely want more--Faranth forbid she not be the most popular. Boys and girls should be at her disposal, and you can bet Ardoxshoth will go through lovers like the arm candy she knows them to be. She will have a coterie, and once dubbed as Hers, good luck getting out of such a title. What's hers is hers... and she won't hesitate to scheme to take what others have if she wants it badly enough.

To make matters worse, Ardoxshoth thinks of herself first, her rider second, and anyone else who follows had best be someone equally gold in color, or come bearing gifts. She is smart enough to know how to work the system, and won't hesitate to push her weight around as she can. Her eyes might be on a desire for the best of everything, but she is still a capable gold beneath it all. Even when Hers tells her no, she will try a different approach, or simply bide her time and try again at another date. At minimum, she can usually find a sympathetic (and perhaps easily-manipulated) ear.

Ah, but Ardoxshoth has more than a one-track mind. When she isn't longing for some new trinket or possession, this queen can be a very charming creature. At her best, she could almost be considered regal. She knows how to soothe a sister who might be distressed or hurting (never mind that Ardoxshoth might well have been the cause of said anguish); she knows how to talk to the boys (and yes, she does expect them to fall over her every word); and she does genuinely care about those in the Weyr (never mind that it serves her to keep on friendly terms with as many in the weyr she can). When she is at her most content, Ardoxshoth can almost be as sweet as her mother, and has ample room in her hearts to connect with clutchmates and strangers alike. By the time she matures, this gold will fit well into High Reaches Weyr society, and while she still might have the periodic tantrum or sulk, will better know how to look and act the part of a queen.

Ardoxshoth might not be a generous queen, but she is a force to be reckoned with. Protective of what she deems hers, all of High Reaches Weyr, her clutchmates, and wingmates, will fall under this umbrella. She might not run the Weyr, but it is still HER home, and therefor, in that regard, it is hers! She will not hesitate to spurn outsiders, or snap at those who might look to take her from her mountains. To those she loves most, she will at minimum ensure they are comfortable (she will gift them with things she does not want or no longer has use for) and at best, will protect with her life. Well, maybe not her life--only for Hers would she risk such a thing--but she will at least use claw and teeth and command to make their enemies lives more miserable. She might not be the kindest queen, but she knows how to protect those who need it most. Like her sister, she is at her most gentlest and most generous when it comes to the sick, the injured, the young, and the very old. She has a surprisngly soft spot for littles in particular, or those who have absolutely nothing. Only then might she part with a trinket or bestow some of her wealth upon them.

Positive Traits: Charming, Protective, Clever
Negative Traits: Covetous, Materialistic, Self-Serving

Egg: A large Number Two Pencil egg.

Adult Size: 81'
Physical Attributes: Ardoxshoth is very average, though on the daintier side of that scale. She is all things delicate, and is more agile and graceful than some of the heavier queens. Unlike her mother, she is more thin than round--but if her rider isn't careful, Ardoxshoth might be prone to putting on a little weight as she ages as she indulges in more and more treats or extra helpings.

Additional Notes: Ardoxshoth has every desire to have a coterie, and will be choosy about who gets to be in her circle. Like some queens, she very easily could invite someone in one day, and cast them out the next depending on her whims. That said, there is a direct correlation to at least a superficial interest on those who bring her things she genuinely wants.

When it comes to flights, Ardoxshoth wants glitter, and that means bronzes. While her sire might be a brown, could anyone expect less from such a lady? It has nothing to do with tradition and more to do with enjoying bling, and as far as this queen is concerned, what else is a bronze but a living accessory? As far as who might capture her hearts for the long-term, it remains a mystery and could be someone she doesn't expect. Male, female, it might catch her truly off guard.

Impression Effect: Yunara's shy nature will likely become a thing of the past. She might always be a listener and ever-so-caring, but Ardoxshoth will give her a new lease on life with confidence aplenty. She is not just a gold rider, but a High Reaches junior weyrwoman, and she will walk like one with her head held high. As for Karou--Karou who? Though the woman might have spent her life pining for a man who gave her little notice, she will ache for him no longer. Instead, she will see the world with new eyes--Ardoxshoth's eyes--and find self-confidence anew. She is no longer "just" a kitchenworker or Karou's fake-wife; she was not Searched on false-pretenses; she no longer need feel like she is somehow unworthy or unfit to be at the Weyr. She is home now. She's always been home.

Why Me? Ardoxshoth and Yunara might appear to be a surprising match, but the pair compliment one another incredibly well. This is a queen who needs someone who will keep her in check, without realizing she's being put to heel, and Yunara already has experience doing just that. Where some might think Yunara too biddable or mild in temperament, Yunara has long-had experience getting others to see things her way, or at minimum, planting an idea and allowing them take all the credit. Such clever wit and business savvy will come in handy when dealing with this queen--who will often need to be guided with a firm hand. Ardoxshoth often thinks she can steam-roll Hers, but Yunara should be able to keep her in check without it becoming a constant battle-of-wills.

Where Ardoxshoth is loud, proud, and commanding, Yunara is tactful, polite, and shy. Yunara was born and bred to think only of others, but Ardoxshoth only seems to think of herself. Together, the two will find a balance--whether they know it or not. Yunara should be able to help temper her queen's greedy and self-serving nature, countering it with her own generous and considerate spirit. She will force her queen to think of others... and hopefully be a positive influence by caring where her gold may not. On the other hand, the gold will force Yunara into the spotlight and ensure she lacks for nothing. Up until now, if Yunara wasn't serving holdfolk in the tea shop or weryfolk the lower caverns, then she was serving Karou and helping him chase his dreams while putting hers aside. Never again. With Ardoxshoth at her side, Yunara will never play second-fiddle to anyone, nor need be of lowly rank. The world is now her oyster, thanks to one Ardoxsoth.

Lastly, both this gold and Yunara have a commonality--they are of both beings of great passion and deep feeling. Yunara keeps hers buried, but Ardoxshoth puts hers on full display. Together, they might well learn to balance one another out. The gold will encourage Yunara to feel things without burying them, and help support her when they do rise to the surface; meanwhile, Yunara might help teach Ardoxshoth time and place with her tantrums, or at minimum, calm her down and help keep her feelings more repressed. This might be their most difficult challenge, as neither gold nor rider deals with their feelings in a healthy manner--but perhaps, together, the might find a more tempered approach.

Ultimately, both rider and dragon are two sides of the same coin, and will bring out the best in one another. Yunara will be able to help mold Ardoxshoth into a truly regal queen, just as the gold will ensure Yunara carves out her own place in the world, and need never be an afterthought again. At their very best, they will be junior weyrwomen High Reaches can surely be proud of.

Gold Damahath
Written by Mr Cheri
Colored by Uta

User Image

Origin of Name: Damahath is a modification of the Hindu damah, or dama, which is equivalent to temperance. It is characterized by self-control and self-restraint. Along with dama, a person of good character is thought to possess daya, which is love of living things, and daana or charity.

Inspiration: Temperence

Temperance in its modern use is defined as moderation or voluntary self-restraint. Temperance has been described as a virtue by religious thinkers, philosophers, and more recently, psychologists, particularly in the positive psychology movement. It has a long history in philosophical and religious thought. It is the fourteenth trump or Major Arcana card in most traditional Tarot decks. It is used in game playing as well as in divination.

Personality: There are many queens who aim to rock the foundations of Pern with their sheer presence. Damahath is not among them. This queen does not in any way enjoy the spotlight, although she is not afraid of it. In her opinion, it is a waste of her time and frankly in poor taste. There is room for everyone at the table, and one thing Damahath is very good at is holding space for others. Naturally inclined toward graceful acquiescence, she cannot abide the pretention that runs rampant among her peers.

If there is anything that Damahath knows, it is that there are many, many queens at the Weyr. The chances that she herself might one day become Weyrwoman are slim, and the overweening pride of so many others is distasteful to her. She would never assume that she is some sort of heir to the throne, although she is not weak or undeserving. Rather, Damahath prefers to live life lifting others up rather than treading on them on her way to power.

She is self-restrained, if not a little inhibited. Averse to change, Damahath is content to follow the current leadership, whomever that might be. Balance is of high importance to this queen, who is keenly aware of every ripple made by her footsteps - and strives to avoid making them in the first place. In a perfect world, she would be a serene and unintrusive element of the background. This is where she is most comfortable. As one cog in the very large wheel, Damahath seeks to help make the Weyr run.

Force her to the forefront and you will find a very unwilling dragon. It is not her place, it is not wanted, and certainly does not make her happy. Taking care of others and ensuring their happiness is Damahath's own road to that very thing. While she is certainly capable of asserting herself when necessary, she does not enjoy the act. Due to her dutiful hearts, she will do what she must, but that does not mean that she will enjoy it. In such a position, she would feel like an imposter, and ashamed to put on such a mask.

Yet those who are wounded surely can come seek succor from her. She is naturally talented when it comes to soothing injured or distressed dragons - they can take from her a calm, ocean deep sense of balance. Damahath is capable of enveloping others in that serenity, lending them a bit of her own quiescence, as so many queens before her. This is perhaps her most striking trait, and one which she feels comfortable sharing with others. Rather than being a damage dealer herself, Damahath fits the support role as if made for it.

Positive Traits: Calm, Humble, Poised
Negative Traits: Inhibited, Self-effacing, Entrenched

Egg: A large Number Two Pencil egg

Adult Size: 81'
Physical Attributes: In her dimensions, Damahath is very average, though on the daintier side of that scale.

Additional Notes: When it comes to Threadfall, Damahath will be a little better than average at soothing wounded dragons. In terms of future romance, she may struggle to find the right partner because she inherently believes in balance. A queen who has a set mate is not, in Damahath's opinion, being fair to the other Chasers, so it would take true love to push Damahath into one particular dragon's arms over and over. It might take her awhile to find Mr. or Mrs. Right, due to her nature.

Impression Effect: Where Ara once struggled with a sense of vagueness and difficulty focusing, she will now find that bolstered by Damahath's careful attentiveness. The gaps will be filled in, and her ability to track conversations will be elevated. She will also find it much, much easier to apply herself to her studies, with Damahath's mind and memory paired with her own. Damahath's internal sense of etiquette will make the transition to junior weyrwoman significantly easier, for Ara will acquire that nearly instantly.

Why Me? Oh Ara, how could Damahath have chosen anyone but you? From the very first moment they met, Damahath knew that they were destined for each other. Her gentle nature saw right into Ara's heart, and weighed her worthy. Damahath wants to show Ara what is possible for her in the world, and to take care of her in the way that only she can. In return, Ara can offer her a reprieve from the pressures of being a queen among High Reaches Weyr. Those with strong ambitions frightened the little gold away, for she craves nothing so much as a quiet place to work diligently for the Weyr's good. Never again shall either have to worry about not belonging, or being in some way inferior. Ara is and forever shall be a Queenrider of Pern, and Damahath is hers.

Bronze Hybreoth
Written by Mr Cheri
Colored by demon_pachabel

User Image

Origin of Name: Hybreoth comes from Hybreos or Hybris, the greek goddess of pride. Variously the daughter of Erebos and Nyx or Dyssebia, she was the personification or daimona of hubris, insolence, arrogance, reckless pride, and outrageous behavior. Notably, the ancient Greeks considered proper pride to be a virtue - Aristotle called it the crown of virtues. Therefore, Hybreos can be seen as an opposing force to that virtuous pride.

Inspiration: The Deadly Sin of Pride

Of the seven deadly sins, theologians and philosophers reserve a special place for pride. Lust, envy, anger, greed, gluttony and sloth are all bad, the sages say, but pride is the deadliest of all, the root of all evil, and the beginning of sin.

Pride (Latin: superbia) is considered, on almost every list, the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins. Out of the seven, it is the most angelical, or demonic. It is also thought to be the source of the other capital sins. Also known as hubris (from ancient Greek ὕβρις), or futility, it is identified as dangerously corrupt selfishness, the putting of one's own desires, urges, wants, and whims before the welfare of other people.

In even more destructive cases, it is irrationally believing that one is essentially and necessarily better, superior, or more important than others, failing to acknowledge the accomplishments of others, and excessive admiration of the personal image or self (especially forgetting one's own lack of divinity, and refusing to acknowledge one's own limits, faults, or wrongs as a human being).

Personality: Hello world, it's Hybreoth. He knows you've been waiting just for him. And why shouldn't the Weyr wait for the splendor that is this bronze? It's not that he's into himself, exactly, it's just that he knows his own worth. As a bronze of High Reaches Weyr, and one of the great line of Eveleth and Thistreth, the sky is the limit in terms of his potential. Exceptionally charming in spite of his ego, Hybreoth will rarely find himself tongue tied - it's just not in his nature. Even so, diplomacy is not his way. He could talk his way through difficulties, yes. He could charm and persuade, and turn others to his whims, and don't think he won't… but it is simply part of him to expect obeisance as a matter of course.

In his own mind, he is a King among Kings. Perhaps the king, one day. Brimming with overweening pride and ambition, this is not a dragon easily swayed. One must possess a powerful will to combat Hybreoth, assuming one can tell in the first place that they are in a battle of wills. His seductive, clever words might well convince the other party before they had the chance to fight back. Not that he doesn't make mistakes or fall short. He is a dragon like any other, if perhaps a particularly bright and manipulative sort. What he doesn't demand outright he will try to weasel because surely it belongs to him in the first place. Everything that falls within his domain can be considered 'his'.

A rather possessive creature when he's claimed one as his own, he fully believes that he should have everything he wants. This is his birthright. Yet he is also a mercurial beast who will cast away something if it does not please him. If anyone were to ever reject him, it is likely that he would twist it around in his own head, coming up with reasons why he never really wanted them in the first place. That said, given his changeable nature he's just as liable to scoop up those he's abandoned at the slightest sign of any partiality. Hybreoth is above and better than the rest, but by that means anyone can and should be his. It is his whim whether to keep or dispose of them.

He can be all consuming. In his own way, Hybreoth is terribly honorable - it's just that he's not bound by any of the shackles that others enshrine themselves in. Etiquette is a flexible thing when one sits at the pinnacle of all he surveys. His sense of honor is very much self-made, and he applies it to every facet of life. No matter that the rest of Pern does not abide by his own standards; if anything, that is merely a sign of his own infinite superiority. For those treasured few who meet his every changing goal posts, this bronze will wreck the world. There are romantic hearts beating in his chest, and he expects nothing less than the full most courtship from anyone who might seek those hearts. His love, once given, is the greatest blessing in the world, of course.

Pass Hybreoth's tests, and he will treasure you. But whether someone can survive his love is another thing entirely. However, don't think for a moment that he would or could sacrifice even an inch of his glittering hide for another. Nothing but the purest and truest love would bring him to do so, for he prizes himself highly. This is in large part because doing so would surely harm his rider, who is the best of the best of the bunch. Still... he does envision himself as a noble and righteous (perhaps self-righteous?) bronze, and will Fight to the end of time to defeat Pern's ancient foe.

They say that pride goeth before the fall, and this is certain borne out by Hybreoth's own character. He is near clinically incapable of viewing his own flaws, which can work very much to his own disadvantage. In his own mind he is limitless, capable of feats that might be impossible to others. This hubris will not serve him well in Threadfall, because learning from his own mistakes would require that he actually acknowledge that they exist. It will take a lot of effort on his rider's part to bring him down from his lofty mental place, down to a level where he's able to comprehend that it is he, and not some foible of an unjust world, that has abutted him against his own very real limits.

Prone to pushing himself far beyond what others might view as reasonable, this bronze will be chomping at the bit from the very get go to be up in the air. As soon as it is possible, he will want to climb to the highest heights, where he surely belongs. Ambitious and ruthless, Hybreoth does not hesitate to push others down if it will raise himself up - but his own charming and clever nature very well could convince another that he was doing so for their own good. For all of his flaws, he is very magnetic and quite aware of it. Why shouldn't others follow him when he can lead them as few others might hope to do? Whether he seeks after leadership or simply demands the best of the best environs, he'll be one to watch.

Positive Traits: Hypnotic, Sagacious, Confident
Negative Traits: Imperious, Dominating, Self-Righteous

Egg: A medium Lisa Frank egg

Adult Size: 92'
Physical Attributes: Exceptionally well proportioned, Hybreoth is a max sized bronze with an exquisite musculature. That is not to say that he is massive in every aspect; he is an elegant creature who balances sleek and strong together.

Additional Notes: Equally likely to chase male and female dragons, Hybreoth will likely pick and choose from among what he feels are the best of the best. That said, he does have a possessive streak, so it's possible and even likely that he might find himself a coterie of lovers - not unlike some of his siblings. It would take a truly exceptional individual to capture his hearts solely - and whether they were able to keep up with him would also be a determining factor in his choice. After all, Hybreoth is a lot.

Hybreoth does not hold grudges. He harbors them. Get on his bad side at your own risk.

Impression Effect: Post-Impression Rahimar will gain a magnetic charisma that is undeniable. When he walks into a room, heads will turn. Perhaps this is the secret behind certain riders' success... and maybe the overall attractiveness of High Reaches riders?

Why Me? When it comes to matches, Rahimar and Hybreoth were destined from the start. They both possess a dominant nature, which Rahimar will definitely need to keep Hybreoth in check. It will certainly be a battle of wills, for the bronze is nigh implacable. His excessive pride will not be tempered by his rider's, which could cause them both to be insufferable, but at the same time Rahimar's reliability will likely keep them both within the bounds of what High Reaches considers acceptable. Certainly Rahimar needed someone who could understand him, and Hybreoth is more than capable of seeing eye to eye with him. In many ways they are quite similar. While Rahimar is fearless, Hybreoth will not risk himself or his rider, which will hopefully balance the other's carelessness as well. They are both determined to be the top dog, and together they might even accomplish that goal.

Bronze Lareseth
Written by Uta
Colored by Uta

User Image

Origin of Name: Lareseth derves his name from the guardian deities in ancient Roman religion, Lares. Lares were believed to observe, protect, and influence all that happened within the boundaries of their location or function. The statues of domestic Lares were placed at the table during family meals; their presence, cult, and blessing seem to have been required at all important family events.

Inspiration: The Virtue of Filiality

In Confucian, Chinese Buddhist and Taoist ethics, filial piety (Chinese: 孝, xiào) is a virtue of respect for one's parents, elders, and ancestors. In more general terms, filial piety means to be good to one's parents; to take care of one's parents; to engage in good conduct not just towards parents but also outside the home so as to bring a good name to one's parents and ancestors; to show love, respect and support; display courtesy; to ensure male heirs, uphold fraternity among brothers; wisely advise one's parents, including dissuading them from moral unrighteousness; display sorrow for their sickness and death; to bury them and carry out sacrifices after their death.

Personality: Laraseth loves his parents, and his family, above all else--that much is certain. Perhaps it was Anakumath's coddling, or just simply an inherent paternal nature, but this bronze's devotion to his family is unwavering. He is a caring beast, who will be there to support his siblings no matter the color. He will not turn his nose down while aiding his green sisters, nor will he keep himself from encouraging his blue and brown brothers to be the best they can be. Whatever they need, Laraseth will be there for them, and to help guide them, nurture them, and ensure that the bonds of family are strong. His care for his clutchmates is genuine, and as he grows, that care will encompass his future wingmates, and fellow kin. He is, at his hearts, a very good dragon and it shows!

Deferent in nature, Lareseth is well aware of his ties to his sire and dam. He has nothing but respect for his golden mother and brown sire--and will essentially strive to be the golden child of the family. Though Anakumath and Elzebuth will receive his utmost regard, it doesn't stop there. He will look upon his ancestors and give them their proper due according to their title and color within the Weyr. If his doesn't know Lareseth's clutch history, you can bet he will once this bronze finds him--and Lareseth will be nothing but respectful to those older, wiser, and as metallic as him.

He is an obedient bronze, more than happy to follow the chain-of-command and ensure his clutchmates do the same. There are rules to be followed in a Weyr, and you can bet this bronze has no trouble falling into line. He will not hesitate to use his metallic prestige and rank (or claws) to "encourage" his clutchmates to follow suit; any order or expectation he gives them is done with the utmost desire to do the most good and ensure his family shows equal respect to their elders. Faranth forbid someone be rude or unkind to his relatives or parents--they will find his teeth and he will not hesitate to shame them for such dishonor.

Unfortunately, Lareseth's obedience can have him blindly accept authority figures without bothering to question them. As most of High Reaches Weyr is related to him, and therefor, the majority of them related to him, this bronze will doubly struggle to go against their requests or commands. Should they ask him to do something callously cruel (as far as a Pern dragon can), his caring nature might be enough to get him to object; but overall, most of the time, Lareseth will simply follow orders regardless of consequence. His parents, grand-parents, and great-grandparents have great sway over his actions, and he will strive to ensure he brings them nothing but pride. He lives to serve, after all, because in his book, family rules.

Lareseth is also very staunchly traditionalist. He believes, without a doubt, that every dragon was hatched into a role, and it is their utmost duty to adhere to the rank their color commands. While he adores his green sisters, he knows they are not in any position to lead a wing or command a Weyr; while he loves his blue brothers, he would never wish them to rise above their station as a fighter--let the bronzes do the marshalling. Even having a brown for a sire can cause Lareseth some pause, for he knows full-well that the Senior Queen would prefer golds pair up with bronzes, and he himself believes a bronze is the more ideal mate for a gold. He loves his mother and father, even if he has reservations about their pairing-- and as he grows, his traditionalist views will become all the stronger--you can bet he'll try to point his more ambitious or gold-chasing brown brothers towards greens or blues rather than look upon metallics of any sex.

This is the way, after all.

Lastly, and perhaps because he is traditional by nature, Lareseth will unfortunately be a bit sexist in his views. Greens and golds alike are meant to be protected, treasured, and ultimately are looked upon as the 'little women' of the Weyr. Blues, browns, and bronzes should do their part to protect their future mates, regardless of color, and of course, take the brunt of Threadfall damage as they can. He doesn't quite believe a female ought to be without a man by her side, and certainly won't hesitate to escort his female clutchmates as a gentleman ought to do; while a queen certainly leads the Weyr, she will still need a bronze to sire a healthy clutch and help keep order; a queen will still need a bronze to protect the clutch from prying eyes, and to be on hand for her every need. Males and females were all created differently, as far as Lareseth believes, which feeds into his traditional views. That said, to any female, he will be nothing but a good and reliable bronze, but he will discourage them from getting too feisty, and will not hesitate to put them in their place if they start forgetting their rank and color. Let the men do the thinking and hard work--the ladies are meant to be pampered and adored.

Positive Traits: Caring, Deferent, Obedient
Negative Traits: Traditionalist, Acquiescent to Authority, Sexist

Egg: A large Orange Slice egg that has some soft bumps along its shell.

Adult Size: 87'
Physical Attributes: Lareseth is staunchly average for a bronze, neither too big, nor too small. He has powerful hindquarters, allowing him to launch from the ground with relative ease, even if it gives him a slightly rounder backside. His stamina is average for his color, but his flame length will always be a bit on the short side. He'll need to fly just a bit closer to patches of Thread to burn them.

Additional Notes: When it comes to flights, Lareseth is (no surprise) traditional in his choices. He absolutely believes he should be on the arm of a queen, and encourage his brown and blue brothers to court the greens. This isn't to say he wouldn't fall in love with a green--in fact, it's entirely possible he could find himself smitten by a little, delicate lady--but he will never stop chasing queens, nor refrain from currying their favor. He has a duty to bring metallic heirs into the world--and he has every intention to see it so.

Boys need not apply.

Impression Effect: Rahmsii's anxiety will practically be a thing of the past. Any anxious feelings that well up will find Lareseth keeping them at bay--for this bronze will be like a balm to the man's heart, and he'll help keep him substantially tempered. This in turn will also soften his temper. He might have moments of stress, or foul moods, but they will be far easier to handle and he'll have a much cooler head. Pulling hair, or biting lips until they bleed, will become a thing of the past.

Why Me? Rahmsii and Lareseth will make a fine pair. To start, Lareseth is a dragon who sees the world in black-and-white. He is a traditional bronze, who knows very firmly where his place is, where the place of every-other-dragon-in-the-Weyr is, and ultimately, that should help ease any of his rider's worries. As a man who enjoys routine, once they become full-fledged wingriders, Rahmsii will never struggle knowing where he belongs, for Lareseth will always remind him exactly where they fit in both company and society. He is a bronze who respects and listens to authority, meaning Rahmsii's world will be very simple as far as dragonriding goes. Lareseth is not a dragon who stirs up trouble, at least not like some of his clutchmates, and he will help ensure that His is never without direction or understanding of their place in the chain-of-command.

Lareseth appreciates Rahmsii's diligence--a fine, Traditional quality in a bronze rider, if he does say so himself--and enjoys that he is a empathetic man. This bronze is a caring creature, sexism and conservative views aside, and will admire that His is clever enough to notice and see when others seem put-off, or otherwise being hard on themselves. As a bronzerider and dragon pair, they will need to be there to support their weakest and most troublesome wingriders, and that sort of empathy is greatly appearing to this good-hearted bronze.

Perhaps what drew Lareseth to Rahmsii isn't just his personality, but his history. He knows the pain that Rahmsii has experienced, and the loss of mother, Safina. He knows how he hard the boy worked to keep them fed as he grew, and the pain of having lost the only family he ever truly had. Family is important to Lareseth, bottom line, and he needed someone who felt equally passionate about theirs. While his "father" was a cruel man, who only wished to acknowledge him out of desperation, Lareseth was touched by how deep Rahmsii's love (and loss) for his mother drove him all those Turns. Never again need Rahmsii feel as if his Search was illegitimate; never again need Rahmsii feel alone. He has Lareseth, and in turn, his family and all of High Reaches Weyr. He need never walk alone again, for his Lareseth will be there with him, to the end.

Bronze Mihrath
Written by Mr Cheri
Colored by Zaikt

User Image

Origin of Name: Mihrath comes from the Middle Persian mihr, meaning love or friendship. It is also a variation of the god Mitra's name. Mitra is an Indo-Iranian god of covenants, treaties, and friendship. When adopted by the Greco-Roman cult of Mithraism, his domain was transformed into mediation.

Inspiration: Justice

Justice is one of the four cardinal virtues in classical European philosophy and Roman Catholicism. It is the moderation or mean between selfishness and selflessness – between having more and having less than one's fair share. Justice is a Major Arcana Tarot card, numbered either VIII or XI, depending on the deck. The Justice card indicates that the fairest decision will be made. Justice is the sword that cuts through a situation, and will not be swayed by outer beauty when deciding what is fair and just.

Personality: There is a right and there is a wrong in this world, and Mihrath is here to tell you exactly what falls under which. There is absolutely nothing that he doesn't think is his purview, no doubt to the dismay of future Weyrlingmasters and Wingleaders. But you know what? That's the right of a bronze. Who can say what's good or bad? Mihrath, that's who. He sees things in black and white, with very little in terms of grey. That said, he genuinely believes that when he takes one side over another he's doing so in a measured way. He's surely capable of looking at things from a neutral perspective, without an inherent bias.

In fact, Mihrath is just as inclined as any other bronze to a traditionalist mindset. It's just that he strives to be fair about it. While there is a predefined hierarchy within the Weyr, one thing that should not be forgotten is that each metallic dragon has a duty to ensure that they are taking their role seriously. That means not looking down on other dragons who are filling different roles. Belittling others will only make you look the worse, in his opinion. Still... he doesn't agree with raising chromatic dragons up so high that they will surely fall like Icarus, pushing beyond their own physical limits.

It's complicated.

Beyond preconceived ideas of fairness, Mihrath is a very private creature. He is not quick to share his thoughts or feelings when it comes to personal affairs, though he will intervene when it is for another's good. This is not to say that he has any difficulty making friends, however. Mihrath is very, very good at having surface level friendships, though letting anyone past his barriers is a real challenge for this bronze. He is well spoken and charming, traits which make befriending others relatively easy, but touching his hearts may be a bit tricky.

One thing to be said of Mihrath is that he cannot and will not break his word. Once given, it is ironclad. His word is his bond, and going back on a promise would destroy him. It is for this reason that he is very careful about making such promises, for once made he will feel obligated to go to every length necessary to follow through. By this same token, if another were to break a promise made to him, he would be devastated beyond measure. Such a betrayal could not be easily forgotten, and certainly would not be forgiven readily.

Positive Traits: Righteous, honorable, charming
Negative Traits: Unbending, moralistic, reserved

Egg: A medium Star Egg egg

Adult Size: 79'
Physical Attributes: A well built, sturdy bronze of average size. Mihrath is handsome and pleasing to the eye, yet very much the warrior.

Additional Notes: When it comes to Threadfall, Mihrath knows his duty and will likely excel at it. He is particularly good at protecting others, and will be prone to taking such a role when possible. In terms of romance, he will be slow to share his hearts with another, at least at first. His preferences run the gamut, and he's capable of finding any color dragon appealing.

Impression Effect: The deep pain that Itzlel has carried will be washed away by Mihrath's love and devotion. He will gain a certain air that is common among High Reaches' bronzeriders, a certain undefinable something that draws viewers and listeners alike in. Where before Itzlel saw his life in a glass half full way, he will now possess a measure of Mihrath's optimism.

Why Me? When it came down to making a decision, Mihrath chose his rider because he possesses what the bronze views to be very important qualities. First and foremost, Itzlel's word is his bond, just like Mihrath's. He appreciates his rider's determined, hard working nature. Yet within Itzlel's history are undoubtedly hardships which Mihrath strongly views as unfair, although they certainly are common among Pern's inhabitants at this time. More than anything, Mihrath longs to assuage Itzlel's pain, and ensure that his future is as bright as possible. With a rider who will never break a promise to him, this young bronze has far to go, and will not cease seeking to right the wrongs of the world. In some ways, Itzlel's own views will help to curb Mihrath, who truly does not perceive any real limits on the world.

Brown Ignaviath
Written by Uta
Colored by demon_pachabel

User Image

Origin of Name: In Greek mythology, Aergia is the personification of sloth, idleness, indolence and laziness. She is the translation of the Latin Socordia, or Ignavia. Ignaviath takes his name from this latin word, which means apathetic.

Inspiration: The Deadly Sin of Sloth

Sloth is one of the seven capital sins in Catholic teachings. It is the most difficult sin to define and credit as sin, since it refers to an assortment of ideas, dating from antiquity and including mental, spiritual, pathological, and physical states. One definition is a habitual disinclination to exertion, or laziness.

Views concerning the virtue of work to support society and further God's plan suggest that through inactivity, one invites sin.

Personality: Ignaviath is a brown who is going to need a lot of support. While some of his clutchmates are hard-working, this brown is not among them. While there is an innate drive in him to defeat Thread, as was programmed in all dragons, Ignaviath would simply prefer to do it in a way that involves the least amount of effort possible. He does not want to wake up and go to drills. He does not want to do wing-flappies for strength training. He doesn't want to do much of anything, to be honest, except perhaps talk with his rider, curl up on a ledge, and do....nothing. While there certainly are things that interest this brown -- food, cuddles, His -- it is the effort it takes to get those things that tend to turn him off.

He will take cuddles from any clutchmates provided they amble over to him. He will eat anything anyone puts in front of him, provided they get it for him. He will always love His with a passionate desire that is unwavering... but he will expect His to do the brunt of the learning and supporting. Depending on his rider, there very well could be a power struggle because Ignaviath will spend his energy arguing why he shouldn't have to do something, rather than simply adhere to the command.

Thankfully, his love for His means his rider will always have the upper hand, and no matter how he might fight or be stubborn, His will always be able to get Ignaviath to move. Some of his more aggressive (or metallic) clutchmates could probably also bully him into line, but rest assured, Ignaviath will probably sigh loudly about the whole ordeal--and cut every corner in the book to get back to being comfortable as soon as possible.

He is a brown who likes to encourage his clutchmates to sun with him, or encourage them not to bother with certain tasks. He will enable indolence in those who can be easily swayed, and has no regrets in doing such a thing. While he understands that there is no getting out of fighting Thread, he just doesn't know why they have to keep worrying about it between battles. Do they really need to drill, drill, drill? Couldn't they sleep, sleep, sleep? Save up some energy for the actual fight? Surely, adding a little more leisure would do them all so good--and that's a stance Ignaviath will take to the grave.

Why bother doing something today when you can do it just as easily tomorrow? If his indolent nature wasn't bad enough, this brown prefers to put off any tasks he is given. Unless his rider stands firm, this brown will wait until the very last minute, and then likely rush through--if he completes the task at all. While some browns make excellent seconds, Ignaviath is not the sort of dragon who would be recommended for any form of leadership, because he just... doesn't want to be that kind of dragon. He honestly wishes he could have been hatched a blue, or better yet a white, because less work and less expectations would be required of him. Should he be injured, this brown will milk it and try to stay in the infirmary as long as he can.

Though he's irascible, Ignaviath does have some good qualities. While he might not like work, he is easy-going in other ways. He's not overly concerned by what's happening around him, or how things might change. He's a dragon who rolls with the punches because it's way too much effort to be upset or riled up about things outside their control. Additionally, he's also a good listener for a similar reason. if someone else is doing the talking, listening is something that doesn't require much effort on his part--and that's something Ignaviath can and does enjoy. He isn't completely heartless, after all, and he does care about his clutchmates--he just shows such care in a rather idle fashion.

Additionally, Ignaviath is definitely a brown who enjoys cuddling up to his clutchmates, wingmates, and any dragon -- or person -- who won't mind a companion. He can be a very affectionate dragon, and it is one of the few times he will make an effort. Why nap on a ledge alone when you could be coiled around someone? While he will always enjoy cuddling up to His, Ignaviath will flop on, or next to, just about anyone. Nothing is better to him than being in the center of a pile of fellow dragons. While he might be a lazy beast, Ignaviath expresses his affection freely and indiscriminately.

Positive Traits: Easy-Going, Good Listener, Affectionate
Negative Traits: Indolent, Enabler, Procrastinator

Egg: A medium sized Corn egg that has a slightly textured shell.

Adult Size: 67'
Physical Attributes: Ignaviath is on the smaller size for a brown. He likes to say he got tired of putting in the effort to get any larger, and has no qualms about being small. He is slim for a dragon, and prone to being underweight for his size. His wings are long, and he is definitely built more for speed than stamina. Unfortunately for his rider, Ignaviath lacks in both.

Additional Notes: Ignaviath is prone to under-eating and will need to be watched. Not only is he a lazy hunter, but by the time he starts to eat, he gets bored with it quickly. He also has less muscle mass than a dragon his size should have, primarily because he hates to exercise. He is very idle indeed, which will result in him struggling during Threadfall. He is prone to being a weak brown, but depending how his rider drives him, he might be able to change into something a little more fit.

When it comes to chasing, Ignaviath will be loathe to do it. Even golds won't tempt him--he has no desire to launch himself after them and fly for an hour. That is way too much work for this brown. Instead, he prefers to find females or fellow males who don't want a long chase at all. Ignaviath just doesn't have the stamina or energy for such a show--but he'll happily cuddle up in post-coital bliss for as long as he's allowed.

Impression Effect: Impression is liable to mature Rundanrul very quickly, as he not only has his work cut out for him, but has gained significant perspective shifts simply by seeing into Ignaviath's mind and hearts. He will find it very easy indeed to fit into High Reaches society, joining the ranks of the Weyr's brownriders.

Why Me? Ignaviath loves that Rundanrul is a slacker, but his overall energy has the chance to push the brown where others might fail. Rundanrul has ambition where Ignaviath just does not have the drive, and it will be up to the young man to coax his dragon to budge from his cozy wallow. On the flipside, Rundanrul is going to get a crash course in patience. Ignaviath possesses it in abundance, and dealing with Ignaviath's slothful nature will assuredly give the young man ample opportunities to hone this new skill. They are both of an amiable nature in their own ways, and in that respect complement one another very well. In one way they are very different, and that is that Ignaviath would never spread rumors about anyone, being such a cuddly and friendly creature.

Brown Kuyizeth
Written by Uta
Colored by demon_pachabel

User Image

Origin of Name: Kuyizeth takes his name from the Zulu word kuyize, which means vanity.

Inspiration: The Sin of Vanity

In many religions, vanity, in its modern sense, is considered a form of self-idolatry in which one likens oneself to the greatness of God for the sake of one's own image.

Personality: There have been many arrogant browns hatched in High Reaches, and, lo and behold, Kuyizeth is another. Here is a dragon who absolutely loves himself, his reflection, and always looking his best. He's a grade-A narcissist, and has no qualms about it. He loves the way he looks, he loves the way he talks, he loves the way he moves, and he is certain that all of Pern loves him too. He is the sort of brown who will stop to admire himself, and who will pose just so, to ensure that those looking at him get the most perfect view. He will take as much time as he needs to ensure he is looking his best, and if he's late for a lesson or a drill, surely, the Weyrlingmaster or future Wingleader will understand.

While his vanity might come off as cute as a hatchling, it fast can turn into a problem as he grows. Those who are late for drills or sweeps or Threadfall can cause frustration and disruption in his wingmates, and that's something Kuyizeth will do on the regular if allowed. It's very possible he might hesitate following an order because he might get hurt or his precious hide damaged, and that will almost almost certainly get someone killed as a result if his rider isn't careful. Kuyizeth will very quickly be known as unreliable at best, and a self-centered disaster at worst, but he doesn't seem to mind, or notice.

And why should he?

He's so self-absorbed he hardly notices or hears the criticism, no matter how loud it's bugled.

To complicate matters, Kuyizeth will be known to be a boastful creature. He has no problem talking about his beauty, and he'll tell all his clutchmates all about how good-looking he is. He is the most perfect dragon on Pern, and has no problem sharing that with anyone who needs to know--and they ALL need to know. He can be talkative and sociable, but usually the conversation will always find its way back to himself and his terribly good looks. Has he mentioned how beautiful he is? How clever? How wonderful? How amazing? He is pretty much the most perfect dragon to ever hatch, and he knows he takes the cake. His other clutchmates might think they're something else, but Kuyizeth is the real looker among them.

Confident to the extreme, once Kuyizeth decides to follow an order, he will do so with gusto. He's blind to his faults, which also means he's blind to his weaknesses, which means he doesn't believe failure is an option no matter the situation. There isn't anything his good looks and fabulous charm can't get himself out of--never-mind that there are many things that he will fail at, time and time again--and learning from them is near impossible. Hopefully his rider takes better notes than he will--for while he is blindly confident in getting himself out of any scrapes, he might also throw himself out of the frying pan and into the fire by not thinking a situation fully through, or approaching it with caution.

Kuyizeth is also a bit of an imaginative and creative thinker. Granted, most of the time he's imagining how good he'd look, or how the crowds will adore him, but he can also sometimes imagine worthwhile things too--like how to get out of that surprise patch of Threadfall without getting scored. He likes to daydream--usually about himself--but sometimes about those who matter most to him. He's a friendly dragon, more than happy to take others under his wing, so long as he's properly praised for such an effort.

Positive Traits: Confident, Imaginative, Talkative
Negative Traits: Boastful, Narcissistic, Unreliable

Egg: A small Black Cat egg that's perfectly smooth.

Adult Size: 63'
Physical Attributes: Kuyizeth is small as far as brown goes, but he knows he is a perfect specimen. He is trim but not petite, and fits the mold of a classic brown. His wings are neither overly broad nor overly thin; his proportions are exactly as they ought to be, and he moves with grace that's second-to-none. Flaws? There are no flaws, not to the discerning eye. He is perfection incarnate, as far as he's concerned--and to everyone else, he's pretty all right.

Additional Notes: Kuyizeth is a brown who knows he is stunning. He knows he deserves the best of the best, but he is also terribly particular about who that is. Who can rival someone as gorgeous as he? When it comes to flights, only attractive dragons need apply, and even then, Kuyizeth will be quite discerning.

Make no mistake, Kuyizeth has no interest in the ladies. He would prefer to be the most beautiful dragon in the room, thank you--and expects others to ooh, and aah over his fine looks. He likes to be caught rather than chase, and when he does let someone catch him, he expects absolute adoration. He will be most offended if he isn't given his just deserts, thank you! He is not incapable of settling down with The One, but it will likely catch him off guard should it happen.

In terms of Threadfighting abilities, Kuyizeth is as agile as a brown could hope to be. He will be known to fight Thread with flash and pizazz, but beware--when he's scored, he tends to fall into an absolute panic until his rider soothes him, and assures him he's as beautiful as he ever was.

Impression Effect: Iskernyk is going to gain an immediate +20 to his already spectacular and fine appearance. While it might not be quite as noticeable in the Weyr (given how many riders have a similar glow), many Holdfolk and Hallfolk and non-rider Weyrfolk will find themselves more than happy to ooh and aah and make much of Iskernyk. He's a living dreamboat, thanks to Kuyizeth, and he'll have little trouble finding admirers willing to throw themselves at him.

Why Me? Vanity, thy name is Iskernyk... No, thy name is Kuyizeth, and let His never forget it. Now that that that's taken care of, how could Kuyizeth look at anyone else on the Sands when Iskernyk was there? Surely, there was and is no Candidate who was as resplendent as he, and rider and dragon will make two peas in a pod. This, unfortunately, could be a terrible thing.

On the one hand, both rider and dragon have healthy doses of ego and vanity. The amount of pure, unadulterated vanity between the two of them will be practically unbearable--if they're not admiring themselves, they'll be admiring and fussing over one another--which will leave them both prone to distraction. Their only saving grace will be Iskernyk's single-mindedness, which, while it can be a problem in some scenarios, might allow the man to get them both through Threadfall (and weyrling training) alive. Kuyizeth is perhaps one of the most unreliable dragons in the Weyr, much less on Pern--so there is hope that Iskernyk's cleverness and astute mind will make up for all that deficit. Surely, the man managed to devote himself to a Craft long enough to make Journeyman--perhaps that same skill will help keep Kuyizeth in line.

More than mutual vanity, another draw for Kuyizeth is the fact that Iskernyk is a Harper. This brown will absolutely continue to encourage his rider's crafting in their downtime--even if now will simply become a periodic hobby. He will expect songs written about him aplenty, but also enjoy having a fellow dreamer to converse with, and perhaps, make his imaginings real. Kuyizeth is creative, as far as dragons go, and will enjoy having a fellow creative as a rider.

On the flip-side, Kuyizeth will give Iskernyk purpose. He might be a gamophobe, and fear of committing, but Kuyizeth might temper some of that. They'll have lovers aplenty, but Iskernyk might well find himself devoted to the cause of the Weyr. Flitting from place-to-place will no longer seem so appealing, for Kuyizeth does know his duty--even if he hates to put his beautiful face at such risk. He will give the Harper new purpose and a new direction, and at minimum, introduce him to the concept of home. For as much freedom as a rider has, even vain Kuyizeth knows that dragonmen must fly when Thread is in the sky. This is their Weyr, their home, their life--and there will be no running from it.

For all that Iskernyk and Kuyizeth fit one another like a glove, they are also like fire and oil. When they are on point, they are capable of doing amazing things--but with both prone to distraction, irresponsibility, and vanity, there are likely already bets being made on whether or not they'll make it out of weyrling training alive.

Brown Sathanaseth
Written by Uta
Colored by Uta

User Image

Origin of Name: In 1409-1410 The Lanterne of Light (an anonymous English Lollard tract often attributed to John Wycliffe) provided a classification system based on the Seven Deadly Sins, establishing that each one of the mentioned demons tempted people by means of one of those sins. Sathanas, which is Greek for Satan, was associated with the sin of Wrath, which is how Sathanaseth derives his name.

Inspiration: The Deadly Sin of Wrath

Wrath can be defined as uncontrolled feelings of anger, rage, and even hatred. Wrath often reveals itself in the wish to seek vengeance. In its purest form, wrath presents with injury, violence, and hate that may provoke feuds that can go on for centuries. Wrath may persist long after the person who did another a grievous wrong is dead.

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the neutral act of anger becomes the sin of wrath when it is directed against an innocent person, when it is unduly strong or long-lasting, or when it desires excessive punishment.

Personality: Sathanaseth is a handful, and his clutchmates will know it. He is a brown who will very quickly come to be known as trouble, and his clutchmates will either fall into line, or face his teeth. He is an aggressive creature, quick to bear his fangs, and take out his irritation on his often innocent clutchmates. To be sure, he has no intention to cause lasting harm, but he is, and will always be, an aggressive beast. On the one hand, his aggression is used as a defensive mechanism; get too close when he wants to be alone, and he'll have no problem snapping at someone to get them to move or lurch away; start to irritate him, and he'll not hesitate to swipe at you to get you to shut up and leave. Sathanaseth is not a dragon who is often open to company, but he is here to do his duty, and that means, fight the Enemy until every last sliver of Thread is nothing but ash.

Sathanaseth might not be a happy dragon, but he was born to fight--and the world had best not forget it. Not that he'd let them. Though this brown has a tendency to escalate small slights into an outright war, his power can be turned to aid the greater good. He will work himself to the bone mastering some sort of tactic, and won't hesitate to give his all when it's time to fight. Even injury won't pull this brown down--for every score he or his rider receives, you can bet Sathanaseth will be all the more eager to light up the sky with his flame. He is devoted fully to his rider, to his Weyr, and to ensure Thread doesn't harm the people below or his clutchmates and wingmates. He might be aloof and independent, but when Threadfall is involved, Sathanaseth knows how to be a team player.

From the beginning, it's clear this brown was clutched primarily to protect his hide and his riders. Unlike some of his clutchmates, he is substantially more aloof, and would much rather sit back and observe than run amok with them in some silly game. That said, it is important to know that he is NOT heartless, cruel, or unfeeling. There will be some who will worm their way into his hearts, and he will even find comradery in his clutchmates and kin. He can be proud when his clutchmates, and future wingmates, do well during drills or Threadfall. There are some who will be persistent, or whose company he will come to enjoy, whether they're aware of it or not. Those who do find their way into his inner circle of care will find a very passionate dragon who feels things deeply. This will be on in full display in some cases--He will grieve hardest when his fellows pass on; he will give his all to ensure that those he loves most are protected; and should he fall in love, he will give his lover the moons and back if ever they asked. Like his sire, he isn't a monster, he just takes a bit of work getting to know. And like all dragons, he will do no harm--he is a protector and knight, even if his armor's stained black.

Should any ever cross him, or get on his bad side, beware, for he is an unforgiving dragon. He would much rather burn a bridge and scorch the earth completely than allow an enemy near him or into his hearts. He will turn a mountain into a molehill, and will hold grudges long after a misunderstanding has been resolved. According to Sathanaseth, there is no resolution. Even if His has worked things out, this brown will never forgive, and certainly never forget. He isn't prone to having many friends, and doesn't mind it. So long as he's there to do his part when Thread falls, so long as his rider is with him, what more does this brown truly need?

Positive Traits: Fearless, Dutiful, Passionate
Negative Traits: Aggressive, Unforgiving, Aloof

Egg: A small Moo Cow egg that's rough and uncomfortable to touch.

Adult Size: 79'
Physical Attributes: Sathanaseth is a large brown, but relatively average in strength and size. He's neither overly muscled nor overly sleek. He is rather average in weight, despite being a bit larger than the standard brown. His head knobs are a bit stubbier than is normal, and his claws just a touch longer than most.

Additional Notes: Sathanaseth keeps his feelings close to the vest, and while he can be sociable with anyone when he sees fit, he isn't particularly outgoing. He is not a cruel dragon, for all that he might bristle or gain a poor reputation--but those who are genuine and persistent might well find their way into his tightly-locked hearts. He'll be at his softest as a weyrling, more malleable than his more fixed personality as an adult... but no matter the age, he is a protector through and through. Maybe he'll grouse and snarl and snap at others, but in his hearts, he would never let someone come to true harm.

In terms of romance, he has no inclination to get involved with anyone right away. Boys, girls, gold, green, or a pretty boy in-between, this brown will be a difficult one to catch. He will participate in flights aplenty, like his father before him, but keeping him on a ledge will require something more. Should he ever fall in love--truly in love--there is no doubt he will give him or her the world. Color doesn't matter to him, for as far as Sathanaseth is concerned, he is powerful enough that any gold or bronze would easily be overshadowed.

Impression Effect: Haveli is going to find her defenses completely torn down and a new-found ability to truly connect, and genuinely care for others. While it might seem peculiar given his edges, Sathanaseth is by no means a monster, and Impression a powerful thing--at his core he is very much a duty-bound dragon who cares about those he was hatched to protect and serve. Haveli will know this from the first, and it will color her new-found world. She will be a woman renewed, no longer alone, and her position in the world secured.

Why Me? There was no one more fitting for Sathanaseth than Haveli, and the dragon knew it from the very beginning. These two were destined for each other, and will share a deep understanding of how the other works. Sathanseth understands her defenses, knows her deepest pain, regrets, and fears--and will be able to handle her at her very worst. He sees her flaws, he accepts them, and will help heal her to become truly whole. She has always been a woman of ambition, and while he might not have golden hide, he has power in his own right. As a brown rider of High Reaches Weyr, she could well be tapped to help lead a Wing, or more easily capture the ear of those higher up. She might not rule as a goldrider might--but she will have power, freedom, and authority that many other women of the Weyr (and Pern in general) do not. If she is truly as clever as she claims, and wants things run more efficiently, she will certainly have more sway than if she had Impressed a blue, green, or white.

Additionally, Sathanseth will give Haveli new purpose. Past his barbed wire and aloof nature, this brown was hatched knowing he was here to destroy The Enemy. Was not Haveli's own sister stricken down by Thread? Was she not inevitably taken from her because of it, along with the rest of her family? It is time for Haveli to grow up and actually do something good in her life. Sathaneseth will ensure she wastes no time become a damned good Thread fighter, and he will relish helping her take down what has caused her so much pain.

Haveli is a self-serving woman, and though Sathanseth is not a generous beast, he is still a dragon of Pern. As a dragonrider of Pern, it is her duty to be selfless and give her time, energy, and even her life, to defend those who cannot. She will need to do away with her underhanded games and self-serving interests to truly excel as a rider. Though this brown might growl and grumble about picking up slack, he would be the first to throw himself in harm's way to keep a wingmate out of trouble. On the flipside, Haveli's drive and ambition will help keep Sathanseth from settling. He will be a wingrider and a good fighter, but Haveli could help him become more. Why stop at being a Wingsecond when it's clear he could someday lead a Wing or even capture a queen? It is possible she could lead her brown to become something even greater.

Though this dragon will likely change Haveli to her core, she will also find peace at least. She is home, she has found her equal, and she has a new outlet for her schemes. Should anyone strive to cause her harm, this brown will be there to defend her. She is his world, and he will do what he can to give her the moons. Like rider like dragon, those who slight them will likely find a grudging enemy for life--for he will not hesitate to scorch the earth for her if she does not do it herself. These two can handle one another at their worst, and will push one another to succeed. While they might never be the most sociable duo, and might always be difficult to approach, it is within their power to become a a formidable fighting pair. It will not be an easy road, but together, there is nothing they cannot achieve.

Blue Elpisath
Written by Mr Cheri
Colored by Meepfur

User Image

Origin of Name: Elpisath, from Elpis, the Greek goddess of hope. Hope was the only thing left in Pandora's jar, once all the ails of mankind had escaped. In the Imperial cult of the Virtues, hope was thought along with salvation, prosperity, and victory, to be a gift of the gods.

Inspiration: Hope

Hope is one of the three theological virtues in Christian tradition. Hope being a combination of the desire for something and expectation of receiving it, the virtue is hoping for Divine union and so eternal happiness. While faith is a function of the intellect, hope is an act of the will.

Personality: A good and noble child, Elpisath is a dragon that one can depend upon. If he is a bit on the soft side, that cannot be helped. Perhaps a trifle too trusting, it is not so much that Elpisath doesn't know any better, but that he hopes for the good in everyone. He wants to believe, and does his best to model the best traits he knows. That way, to his thinking, someone else's dreams might also come true. Yet he is a shy dragon who finds it difficult to put himself out there. There's such a big world waiting for him, and although he finds it overwhelming, he's trying very hard to be worthy of it.

Daunted by the task ahead of him, and yet unwilling to give up, Elpisath is exceedingly likely to push himself beyond his limits. It is his desire to bring about the most good for the most people that will put him in harm's way; for Elpisath values others more than he does himself. He is a tender soul who will give unconditionally. Inclined to falling in love with the wrong sorts, for he surely desires to help them grow beyond their own failings, this dragon will likely cause himself and his rider no end of trouble. Yet it will all be done in the name of good.

Eager to prove himself, yet desperately afraid to fall short of expectations, this sweet blue will struggle to stand out from the rest of the pack. It is not that he is incapable. Rather, Elpisath would prefer so much to help others shine. He longs for nothing more than to make his dear siblings and rider happy. They are so dear to him that he cannot conceal his tender hearts, and will stop at nothing to do right by them. High Reaches is a Weyr where a little blue will not likely find himself in the spotlight, and yet there are few blues indeed who are as dutiful and kind as Elipsath.

He would give up his own wallow to help another, and will be especially indulgent of the sick and the needy. A friend in need is a friend indeed, after all, and this boy will surely be that friend. When times are at their darkest, Elpisath can be counted upon to bring light to a situation - whether by taking the best of care of his fellows, or saying a kind word, he will be there when he is needed. If another could not tolerate his company it would devastate him, but he would accept his fate. He knows that he can be overly clingy, and though he cannot help it, he can and will cut himself off if he must.

His emotions are felt keenly, though Elpisath has a lot more bounce back capability than one might expect. Enduring hardships is second nature to him, and though he cannot be said to be particularly wise, he always tries his best. If he is perhaps a bit foolish, that cannot be helped. Deep down, he knows that he is only a blue... and is quite aware that he does not measure up to the larger colors of the Weyr. At least, not in High Reaches' eyes. It will be up to his rider to reassure him that he is just as worthy as anyone of admiration and love, for he is excessively humble and self-effacing.

Positive Traits: Caring, Hopeful, Hardworking
Negative Traits: Self-sacrificing, Naïve, Shy

Egg: A large Sunshine egg

Adult Size: 48'
Physical Attributes: Though not quite the tiniest of blues, Elpisath comes very close. He is a dainty creature who is not remotely aware of his own beauty.

Additional Notes: Exceptionally bonded to the rest of his clutch, this boy will be keenly attentive to his siblings. It might take him awhile to find the right romantic partner, as he has a terrible predilection for bad boys. Yes, boys. Though it's possible that he could fall in love with a lady, he has a strong preference for larger blues, browns, and bronzes. Small and fast, Elpisath will not have much endurance at all, except in his emotional capacity.

Impression Effect: What Alisaide has going for them is a certain innocent look that many will find unconsciously appealing. When it comes to this rider and dragon pair, that will likely be on an emotional level. Those who speak with Alisaide will find themselves naturally trusting what they have to say. If they are a bit tactless, it will surely be easy to forgive, for their goodness and amiability will shine through as it always should have done.

Why Me? Dear Alisaide, from the very first moment you arrived, Elpisath knew deep down you and he were meant to be. They are such a genuinely good person, with their perpetual optimism and sheer joy in the world around them. In seeing the world through Alisaide's eyes, Elpisath has found so much in the way of curiosity and wonder, things which he never before experienced in quite the same way. Elpisath's deeply caring nature will naturally bolster Alisaide, whose anxiety will melt away in the face of his dragon's love and devotion. If there ever was a dragon capable of imagining all of the things that Alisaide can do with their future, that dragon is Elpisath. Alisaide is innately amiable, and their outgoing nature will help pull Elpisath out of his shell.

Blue Erisath
Written by Mr Cheri
Colored by Zaikt

User Image

Origin of Name: Erisath comes from Eris, the Greek goddess of strife and discord.

Inspiration: Spite

Spite is the desire to harm, hurt, upset, annoy or offend someone else - and it is a terrible sin because it is both insatiable and self-righteous. It can be thought of as a variant of the sin of Wrath. Dante's description of Wrath is love of justice perverted to revenge and spite.

Personality: Um, hello? All eyes on Erisath, for he is the finest dragon to be seen here. Yes, that includes those fancy bronzes and browns. Who do they think they are? Well, apart from being eye candy for yours truly, they are nothing compared to the true splendor which is Erisath. He is both arrogant and spiteful, enjoying attention all the more when he is taking it from someone else. In fact, there is very little that isn't superior when it didn't first belong to another. It's not that he's an envious creature, he just has a very wide selfish streak.

Not to mention that he is clearly the most beautiful dragon to have ever graced Pern's skies, please and thank you. But basically screw you for not noticing, because hello, it's kind of obvious? He is very prone to holding grudges and then doing things purely because they vex someone else. It's not so much because he wants to be annoying as he wants to be galling. The main point is to be memorable. Followed by that, of course, is to get back some of his own upon those who have wronged him.

Being wronged is a very serious concept for Erisath, who has felt wronged since he broke shell. After all, his gloriousness should be equally important to any queen or bronze - why shouldn't it be? Yet that was clearly not the way that the world thought, and that fact will remain a thorn in his side for the rest of his life. He is prone to fits of temper, and only careful handling will keep him in check. It's best to treat him with kid gloves most days, for he will let his displeasure be felt otherwise.

Rude.

In spite of all of that, however, there exists a loving inner core within Erisath that few will ever enjoy meeting face to face. Just as inclined to treasure those who seem to treasure him in return, Erisath will give his whole hearts to those he loves. There is a certain grudging fondness for his clutchmates at large, though he certainly has not forgotten how some of them behaved. Nor has he forgiven anyone who may have made him feel the lesser. That in and of itself is such an alien feeling to the blue that it would be wholly unwelcome.

Positive Traits: Confident, loving, flamboyant
Negative Traits: Arrogant, spiteful, temperamental

Egg: A large Eggplant egg

Adult Size: 46'
Physical Attributes: Tiny, but beautiful. Oh yes you best believe he is an elegant, eye-catching creature. Sleek and svelte, and well aware of it.

Additional Notes: Nothing but boys will do. In spite of his protestations, Erisath definitely has a preference for bronzes. Even so, any boy has a chance. Sorry ladies, this one's not for you, and frankly probably won't notice any interest thrown his way from that quarter. If he does, just be prepared for smugness, but not even a hint of a chance.

Impression Effect: Before she Impressed, Rosannah was a pretty girl. After Impression, she will undoubtedly be a gorgeous one, and it's hard to tell what's adding to that look. Is it something in her eyes, something in the way that she carries herself? Perhaps it's the charisma of a rider, or the sense of surety that having someone who loves you unconditionally will bestow.

Why Me? The fiery Erisath needed Rosannah's caring nature to temper him. And yet, although Rosannah is a wonderfully empathetic person, she does not simply forgive and forget when others wrong her. This is something that she and Erisath have in common, and he'll be only to happy to chime in with an acidic word for the offending party. Those who are cruel for cruelty's sake will find themselves with one angry blue, and a rather unforgiving rider. Rosannah will certainly be able to understand Erisath's own deep sense of betrayal at the world, even if it happens to be because he wasn't given utter devotion upon first entering it. Rosannah's sense of humor will serve them both well, giving a hint of lightness to the otherwise sarcastic little blue. There is good in this little boy, and she is just the one to find it and draw it out. And, she'll add a touch of whimsy to Erisath's life, allowing him to invest himself in her projects whenever they have time for it.

Blue Kesucianth
Written by Uta
Colored by Meepfur

User Image

Origin of Name: Kesucianth takes his name from the word kesucian, which translates to "chastity" in both the Indonesian and Malay language.

Inspiration: Chastity

Chastity is a virtue related to temperance. Someone who is chaste refrains either from sexual activity considered immoral or any sexual activity, according to his or her state of life.

In many Christian traditions, chastity is synonymous with purity. Chastity, according to one's marital status, could either mean to have no sexual relationship or not having any sexual relations outside marriage. It also means fidelity to husband or wife during marriage. In Catholic morality, chastity is placed opposite the deadly sin of lust, and is classified as one of seven virtues. The moderation of sexual desires is required to be virtuous.

Personality: Kesucianth is and will always be a romantic. From the very beginning, this blue will find himself cooing over those in the Weyr who are absolutely smitten with one another, and will absolutely delight in the stories that talk about true love conquering all. He is a blue who wants to be madly in love, and cannot wait for the day he is old enough to actually start noticing the greens of the Weyr. While he will likely have some young-love crushes on some of his clutchmates, he will not make a move or do anything untoward. In fact, for all this blue's love of romance and romantic things, he will remain staunchly chaste until he finally meets The One.

You won't catch this blue twining tails with just anyone, either, no matter how many greens rise. No, Kesucianth is waiting for true love before he throws himself into a chase--never mind the competition that still could outwit and outsmart him! No matter how pent up his ride might become, Kesucianth will be firm and unwavering--he is waiting for True Love and nothing else will move him or his hearts. Once found, nothing will be off the table -- he will gift said love with the fattest wherries he can find, or serenade them with song; they will lack in nothing, and he will make an ideal protector and partner.

Unfortunately, Kesucianth will have a reputation of being traditional. He has no desire to break the mold, and if anything, has some rather judgmental views. He believes gold and bronzes are the ideal matches, and while he loves his parents, he has some thoughts about his mother's choice in choosing a brown, and of course, his father's reputation. But that is to be said of all his aunts, uncles, cousins, clutchmates, and weyrfolk -- he tends to turn his nose down at those who are more lascivious than he, and certainly thinks greens should be looking more at blues and browns than their metallic kin. And just try to bring up Westner--oh boy, he certainly has quite a few thoughts about that whole set up, if you care to listen. He isn't a cruel blue, but he does have a more conservative mindset--his love for his family and his Weyr is secure, but his viewpoints are perhaps a bit stringent.

In fact, Kesucianth is rigid when it comes to rules, faithfulness, and loyalty. Should a queen give him a command, he would follow it simply out duty, even if instinct would allow him to object. He will happily follow the orders of bronzes and browns, as they rightfully outrank him. Unfortunately, this also means he expects whites and even some greens to adhere to the orders of blues. The chain of command, and instinct, is ingrained in each dragon--to fight it is to fight ones own nature and Kesucianth would never dream of doing such a thing.

Despite his more conservative viewpoints, Kesucianth is a gentleman at heart. And while he might have judgments a plenty to tell his rider, or think privately himself, he would never dream of hurting someone or be so crass as to say such things to someone's face. He, at minimum, understands that all dragons are hatched differently--he just has a very black-and-white worldview and would much prefer everything to be orderly and in its proper place. While he would not shy away from explaining his thoughts and opinions, he would do so with grace and gentility. He might judge, but he at least won't be a complete a** about it. Instead, he'd likely make suggestions of how some of his clutchmates (or future wingmates) might best improve themselves.

Kesucianth is, at the end of the day, a very good blue. He makes charming company, and certainly cares about his clutchmates and their happiness. He will fit comfortably in the High Reaches mold.

Positive Traits: Gentleman, Devoted, Romantic
Negative Traits: Judgmental, Conservative, Rigid

Egg: A small Red & White Toadstool egg that has a slightly grainy feel to the shell of its egg.

Adult Size: 55'
Physical Attributes: Kesucianth falls right in the middle in terms of his size. His neck, tail, and headknobs are longer than normal, giving him a distinctly sleek appearance, and his body is on the smaller, more delicate side compared to blues of similar length. He was hatched to be swift in the air. He might not have much stamina or strength, but his agility will certainly earn him recognition.

Additional Notes: When it comes to flights, Kesucianth staunchly has eyes solely for greens. That said, he will not chase without finding The One. Ever romantic, this blue only wants his One True Love, and will not chase without being genuinely in love. He wants a romance for the ages, and expects to find it, no matter how long it takes. He'd rather chase no one at all rather than pour his energies into someone he isn't truly in love with--and who doesn't love him in return.

When he does find the one, he will be forever loyal and unwavering.

Impression Effect: Never again will Elibrie ever feel as though she has given up the life she was meant for. There will be no hole in her heart, for Kesucianth will fill it with his love and devotion. Gain +20 confidence!

Why Me? Although Kesucianth is a traditional blue in his hearts, he could not help but fall in love with Elibrie. The two of them share much in common, from their somewhat hidebound natures, to their general view of the world, they are like peas in a pod. Perhaps the girl once thought that a lady should only ride a queen, but Kesucianth has certainly put that to paid. A girl, this girl, should ride a blue! In truth, while female blueriders are not quite the most ideal traditional pair, they are certainly more socially acceptable than a female brownriding pair - so surely Elibrie can see that it is perfectly fine that he chose her. Surely! If Kesucianth is nervous, it is only because Elibrie was raised in a very traditional environment, and he wants to prove that he measures up to her standards.

In his hearts, he longs for true love, and will not Chase anyone but his one true dragon, whomever that might be. He does know that she will be a Green, and she will be a lady, just like his sweet rider. If anyone could understand his desire to hold true to his feelings, it surely would be her. He has no problem at all with her subservient nature, seeing as his proper place is well below the queens, bronzes, and browns. Comfortably settled as a fighting dragon, Kesucianth will hope to spend many happy days showing his true devotion to his lady-rider, and will treat her with the utmost care. In turn, Elibrie can offer him her idealism and optimism, which will help to cement their bond together as a dragon and rider of Pern.

Blue Nimiseth
Written by Uta
Colored by Meepfur

User Image

Origin of Name: In his Summa Theologica (Part 2-2, Question 148, Article 4), St. Thomas Aquinas reiterated the list of five ways to commit gluttony. Nimis - eating food that is excessive in quantity (too much), is number three on the list, and where Nimiseth takes his name.

Inspiration: The Sin of Gluttony

Gluttony means over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or wealth items, particularly as status symbols. In Christianity, it is considered a sin if the excessive desire for food causes it to be withheld from the needy. Some Christian denominations consider gluttony one of the seven deadly sins.

Personality: Eat, drink, and be merry... Those are the words that inspire Nimiseth everyday, much to the chagrin of his clutchmates. Everything about this blue is larger than life. Physical girth aside, Nimiseth is a very jovial and good-natured dragon. He's the sort of blue who doesn't ever seem to be down, and loves to laugh or bring joy wherever he goes. He'll be the sort of blue to cheer someone up with a good joke, or simply laugh at the folly of life. Bad things happen, certainly, but they don't often bring Nimiseth down for long. His merriment is often contagious, and he'll have little trouble making friends or bringing good cheer to every lesson and drill he's assigned. He's soundly a happy dragon, and very little can dampen his spirits.

A friend to all, Nimiseth will always enjoy making friends. He's got a story for just about every occasion, and will even talk to himself if no one else is around. He might be a blue, but there is no shyness in his hearts and no obvious temper. He has patience in droves, and doesn't upset easily. Things might go awry or look glum, but Niimseth has a way of finding some sort of silver lining.

Generous to a fault, Nimiseth enjoys giving what he can to those around him. Whether someone needs his time, his weyr, or his meal, this blue freely gives. He wants others to be as happy and joyous as he, and strives to ensure that his loves lack in nothing. His larger-than-life nature can, unfortunately, cause him to be a bit over-eager. He isn't good at tempering himself, and doesn't often read social cues particularly well. Just because his brother is getting red-eyed and baring his teeth, doesn't mean Nimiseth is going to stop going on and on about his day. Nimiseth is also likely to spook away those who are more shy or tender; not because he wants to overwhelm them, but because he just gets a little too eager. He is a bit like a bull in a china shop, and if his rider doesn't know how to keep him in line, Nimiseth might well drive away those who need a little less loud-and-proud. It just doesn't occur to him that sometimes he should tone things down or take a gentler approach. Laughter isn't always the best medicine, talking doesn't always cheer folks up, and going full force isn't always what's needed.

Lastly, Nimiseth is a glutton He. Loves. Food. He will not only eat more than he should, even when his rider says no, but he will horde it. He will try to take food from other dragons who might not be guarding their prey, just as he will roll on his back and beg for a bite. He will eat, and then want to eat some more. He is a bottomless pit. Worse, he will take more than his share, and not think twice about it--and encourage His to do the same. While he certainly enjoys sharing food with others, rest assured Nimiseth will try to get the largest portion, or take the choicest cuts for himself. He's not always thinking of others, particularly when it comes to such a sensory pleasure as eating. Drinking is another joy--and Nimiseth will spend as much time drinking water as he will bathe in it. His will need to keep a close eye on what Nimiseth eats, for while he isn't so gluttonous as to eat things that aren't food--he will want to eat a lot, and claim he's starving even when he clearly isn't.

For a Weyr that has to preserve its resources, Nimiseth might very well cause his rider more than a little trouble.

Positive Traits: Gregarious, Generous, Merry
Negative Traits: Gluttonous, Over-Eager, Oblivious

Egg: A medium sized Funfetti egg that has a few surprisingly large bumps over its otherwise smooth shell.

Adult Size: 58'
Physical Attributes: Nimiseth is on the larger size for a dragon, and is terribly, terribly fat. Perhaps he inherited it from his mother, but this blue is, and will always be, more of a round dragon than anything. The more his rider lets him overeat, the more round he'll be. He will never be a trim dragon, and gains weight easily. Despite his roundness, Nimiseth has muscle beneath all that fat, and while he is atrocious when it comes to flying swiftly, or agilely, he seems to make up for it by having excellent flame length and an ability to take a solid hit.

Additional Notes: When it comes to matters of the heart, food is the best way to win this blue champion over. He certainly seems more interested in eating than chasing, but the right boy or girl might pique his interest. When he does chase, he's a good sport about the whole affair--and is more than happy to catch (or be caught) by anyone willing if he does lose.

Impression Effect: Upon Impression, Vannek will be transformed. With his pain and grief soothed away in an instant, the world will now be face-to-face with all that Vannek can be, unhampered by the sorrows of yester-turn. He will shine as brightly as the jewels he so carefully polishes.

Why Me? While Vannek is power-hungry, Nimiseth is just plain hungry. Sorry, buddy, but this blue is likely to be quite a handful. Of course, he is every bit as deserving as the next dragon. Nimiseth's outgoing nature will surely mesh well with Vannek's ambitions, but there is a limit to how high they can rise. However, there are definitely heights to which they can ascend, if only Vannek can draw out the best of his dragon. With Vannek's perfectionist nature the danger that Nimiseth becoming the roundest blue on Pern will lesson. He does need a strong willed rider to temper him, and one thing that the blue can offer his rider is retribution. He does have the capability to become a valiant Threadfighter, and Vannek certainly has the will.

While Nimiseth will never mind his rider's haughty and lying nature, Vannek might well benefit from the blue's affability and merry temperament. It is fortunate that the young man has a patient nature, for he will need that to push through Nimiseth's seemingly bottomless hunger. Perhaps he can turn the dragon's focus onto more productive things, and keep His in check. However, with several flits of his own, Vannek may find himself with a cajoling dragon attempting to convince his firelizard companions that bringing him an extra tidbit will be well worth their while.

Green Camaeleth
Written by demon_pachabel
Colored by demon_pachabel

User Image

Origin of Name: Camael is the Archangel of strength, courage and war in Christian and Jewish mythology and angelology.

Inspiration: Courage is the choice and willingness to confront agony, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation. Physical courage is bravery in the face of physical pain, hardship, even death or threat of death, while moral courage is the ability to act rightly in the face of popular opposition, shame, scandal, discouragement, or personal loss.

Personality: Be afraid – do it anyways. This green has made her peace with fear. While fear and what it represents does loom over her, Camaeleth wears it like armor, rather than a weight, carrying it ever forward. She is painfully aware of what life has in store for her – if Thread does not take her, it will likely take her loved ones and it will still pierce her flesh. But to know is to be prepared and to be ready when one must rise up to the cause. Her hearts burn with such incandescent bravery that the shadows that doubt, hesitation, and inaction would hide in are left far from her very core. They burn so brightly that those around her may also find themselves bolstered by her courage. She is the type of dragon to want to raise spirits before battle or any other difficulty and to lift up those who may have doubt in themselves.

However, while her immediate calls to action may seem foolhardy and without thought, the opposite is frankly true – Camaeleth is almost lost inside of her own head, rather than with those around her. She is constantly thinking of what could come and what will need to be done that when they finally do come to pass, she has already prepared the answer and her little legs and wings will rush into action without a moment to lose. But it causes her to miss the here and now; while she will be present in lessons and drills, in time where she should put down her shield and take reprieve she will instead spiral down a tunnelsnake burrow of thoughts as to where these lessons will come into use in the future and how she will best use them to defend Pern and her loved ones. Unless pushed by her rider, the silent hero will become the lone hero and forget that to have loved ones to protect, she needs to create bonds and not just great plans.

Camaeleth is both quiet by nature and incredibly hard to push from her course. She believes that actions speak louder than words and will be inclined to share brushes of feelings and gestures, rather than talk. The same is true of others, however, and she will very rarely take someone at their word or face value. Even one who is incredibly true to their promises will have to work hard to not draw question and doubt from this green. Fortunately, the opposite is also true and one false step with Camaeleth isn’t the end of the world.

Positive Traits: Brave, Decisive, Stalwart
Negative Traits: Obsessive, Withdrawn, Doubting

Egg: A small Happy Ghost egg. Under the hand, this egg gives off the impression it has found a thought to chase after.

Adult Size: 45'
Physical Attributes: One could easily miss that Camaeleth is a middling length green when they see how powerfully she is built - she is a stocky, muscular green with a broad wingspan and notably large eyes. She does carry some fat to her, but she could hardly be mistaken for being chubby

Additional Notes: Camaeleth is an absolute inferno during Threadfall and will chew through firestone quicker than most dragons - and bite her tongue more often if not careful.

She will rise once, sometimes twice yearly, but find the whole affair to be awfully full of words. Should she choose a dedicated mate, she will likely have no eyes for any other. She will choose them always when she can, but as flights are as much luck and timing as choice, there will be times another wins, or circumstances make it impossible for her choice to be there. Still, Camaeleth will handle it with courage and understanding.

Impression Effect: Post-Impression, Lelte will possess an unfeigned confidence. Not only did she succeed in find her bondmate, she will know forever after that she is so worthwhile, and it will show. There will not be a place that she goes in the future where she'll be alone, and she'll find that doors open with greater ease now that she has joined the ranks of High Reaches riders.

Why Me? Camaeleth longs for nothing so much as to be Lelte's strength and security. This sweet girl has so much to offer, and Camaeleth will protect her with all of her might. Lelte's compassion, naiveté, and bubbly nature are points strongly in her favor. They are balanced by Camaeleth's own brave and stalwart nature. Where Camaeleth is withdrawn, Lelte is shy, and where that might initially appear to put them forever out of the limelight, Camaeleth cannot bear that others not appreciate her rider for all that she has to offer.

This dragon is incredibly brave, and combined with Lelte's long buried desire to be adored, they will find it easier to put their best foot forward together. Perhaps the world outside of the girl's cothold was not so sunny as she might hope, but for Camaeleth this is a small obstacle indeed. There will always be those who cannot see what's in front of them, and of those neither dragon nor rider need concern themselves. While Camaeleth has difficulty trusting others, she will find Lelte an eminently trustworthy confidant, in whom she can put her full faith. In Camaeleth, Lelte may find the strength to push past her own fear. For indeed, courage is not the lack of fear, but the willingness to do what is right in the face of it.

Green Feidemeth
Written by Tsunake
Colored by Meepfur

User Image

Origin of Name: Feidemeth’s name comes from the Old French word feid. The word faith is derived from feid and the Latin word fides.

Inspiration: The virtue, faith. Faith is confidence or trust in a person, thing, or concept.

Personality: Feidemeth is a resilient and dependable dragon to her very core. She is not particularly loud or rambunctious, but her calm, quiet nature has nothing to do with her being shy. She is the first to be at someone’s side if they are in need, all too willing to lend a shoulder to lean on. Don’t worry. Things might seem hard right now, but she believes in you. And indeed, Feidemeth believes in everyone. She will see the good in any creature, no matter how deeply it might be hidden. Those with darker personalities or desires won’t bother Feidemeth one bit, for she has love and understanding to share in spades. She is particularly drawn to those who are unsure or troubled, happy to offer quiet encouragement or even just her presence if it would help.

She is an earnest and hardworking creature, and will take her lessons very seriously. Though she will be known for working well with anyone and everyone, her desire to help others can cause her focus to slip from her own duties. Feidemeth just can’t help but notice if someone is struggling and will instantly want to lend them her full support. This tendency to become distracted by others will be something she battles all her life, and her rider will need to help her remain focused. She can’t help anyone if she’s making her own mistakes.

Feidemeth can be sensitive. She isn’t the type to vocalize her hurt, and would rather stamp it down so that she can think it over later. However, her body language gives it away every single time. She isn’t particularly good about hiding any of her feelings, and when she’s sad… well, it’s obvious. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for Feidemeth to have little regard for her own feelings. She does not hold grudges and is quick to offer forgiveness even without acknowledgement or an apology. She is the type of dragon that gives people a second, third, and fourth chance, even though she really shouldn’t. She simply believes in the best of others, no matter how they might hurt her.

Positive Traits: Dependable, Encouraging, Selfless
Negative Traits: Self-sacrificing, Sensitive, Prone to Distraction

Egg: A large Sunshine egg. It has a surprisingly soft and pleasant texture.

Adult Size: 50’
Physical Attributes: On the large side of average for a green, Feidemeth is tall and thin. As a hatchling, she will be all gangly limbs and awkwardness, but she’ll be quite graceful and almost willowy once she finishes growing. With a long neck and tail, she’s quick as a whip in the air, but lacks stamina.

Additional Notes: Flights are the one time that maybe, just maybe, Feidemeth might allow herself to be a little selfish. It will not be uncommon for her to form crushes on whomever catches her, though whether or not they last is another story.

She is also an incredibly brave Threadfighter, and she won’t hesitate to risk herself by taking a blow meant for another.

Impression Effect: A weight has been taken off of Nalacko's shoulders. She has effectively been given a new lease on life, and with that lease come certain side effects. Please kindly take a solid +10 to charisma, and +10 to endurance.

Why Me? You gotta have faith. Fortunately, Nalacko now has Feidemeth, who will be a forever companion through the rest of her life and beyond. She need never again worry that she'll walk away empty handed from a clutch, for the perfect dragon has joined her on her life's journey. Feidemeth's sensitivity will surely find a balance in Nalacko's humor and charming nature. Inclined toward helping others, Feidemeth will find a boon companion in Nalacko, who can lend her eloquence and charisma to the green's efforts to comfort others. Knowing just the right words to say is such an important skill, especially when it comes to providing comfort. Perhaps Nalacko can also help Feidemeth learn a little in the way of subtlety when it comes to displaying her own hurt feelings, for it is almost distressingly obvious when the green is feeling wounded. As luck would have it, Nala will never have to worry again that she'll be pressed into a leadership role, for her green's hide will prevent that from happening at High Reaches Weyr. Instead, they can focus on being a damn fine new fighting pair.
