61-78. If Wingleader you actually are on top of things today! You're here to look out for your wingmates and your seconds, and in this case, you manage to do both! Quote one your Wingseconds, or Wingrider and nullify any negative effects & negative HP from their most recent roll! This can include Wingleader/Wingsecond rolls!

Z'pel's focus was arrow-sharp, and with his blue beside him he felt able to accomplish anything. It was going to be a long, rough Fall, but he watched his wingmates like a hawk. Spotting danger before it could strike, he urged his dragon to call out across the shared mental space and alert the poor victim-to-be. He would not let Fire Storm down!

Kito wasn't nervous. Well, at least that's what he would have told everybody else. Thoughts of his brother and his aunt- thrashed by Thread at Fate's whim- tried to insert themselves into his self-confidence. He wrangled the thoughts into the deep dark recesses of non-existence, clinging to Auriath's nonchalant carefree attitude.

As they rose at the command of the Wingleader, Kito found himself swept up in an adrenaline-fuelled chase. They may have been settled in the low-altitude position, but that didn't make it any less dangerous (or important). There! He saw a strand of silver almost out of their reach, but Auriath, in an impressive feat of flaming, seared it out of the sky. Wow. Nice.

They narrowly avoided a stray clump of Thread as it descended through the ranks, Auriath twisting on himself to flame it from the sky. As it disintegrated, he gave a delighted roar, and Kito thumped him on the flank.

Perhaps Kito ought to have reined in his dragon somewhat. After his impressive twist, he became a little arrogant, and flamed another patch only to fly straight through the resulting ash cloud. His roar of triumph turned into squeaky coughs, and he flicked his wings a little. Oops. You all right there?

Despite Auriath's confidence, things were about to take a turn for the worse. A tangle caught them by surprise, and with a roar, he ducked Between to ease the pain of his back leg. Auriath, come on! We can do this! Faranth, he hoped the dragon would pull through and rally. Kito's heart beat a little heavier than usual.

As they reappeared from Between, a strong gust of wind caught them off-guard. Auriath was not quick enough to duck out of the way, and the small score across his side distracted him still. This new clump of Thread caught him across his chest, slopping downwards as it left a nasty mark. Between again, Auriath cried out in pain into the darkness. Kito did his best to reassure him, both physically and mentally. Come on, this'll work out. I promise you. I won't let you get too badly hurt.

I am too pretty to go down like this!

You know, folks love a good scar, and an even better story behind it. Trust me on that one.

Lunamichith was alert, as she always was come Fall. Her unbridled energy could be guided and focused, and Senara, whilst never relaxing in such dangerous times, felt more in control even as death and danger whirled around them. Fire Storm had been a very comfortable Wing since she had been tapped for it, and she was grateful for the experience and easy-going camaraderie of her wingmates (even if she herself had a difficult time joining in on dinnertime banter).

Lunamichith noticed the clump first, and swooped upwards to sear it from the sky. Excellent work, my dear.

Lunamichith's instincts seemed to be on point today, for Senara barely had time to glance up and down before she was on the tail of more Thread. She dove hard, Sen's stomach settling neatly in her throat, and roared fire at the offending parasites, the miracle third a catch Senara wasn't sure Luna could replicate.

They don't stand a ghost of a chance against me, Senara! The vibrant green crowed, pulling out of her dive and rejoining the formation.

The sudden gust of wind was unexpected, and Senara counted her small blessings that Lunamichith had finished firing the clump before them. Flame was much worse than ash, even as her beloved green hissed in fury. She dragged her scarf up past her nose, frowning. It's all right, my sweet. This will pass.

It caught me off-guard! How dare it!

More ash billowed back- from unexpected quarters. Lunamichith gave a bloodthirsty snarl much unlike her usual joyful self. Senara hunkered down close to her neck, stroking the skin with one hand. I'll treat all of these burns and aches when we land, I promise.

Luna did not respond, but there was a single-minded desire for revenge that ached through their bond.

1. A gust of wind sends you out of formation, and you know your Wingleader (or their Seconds) just saw.

Despite the green's prevailing anger at having been wronged by ash and wind, she was grateful for the sudden gust that blew them out of formation- and out of harm's way! Moments later a tangle of Thread occupied the very spot they normally filled, and Senara watched, wide-eyed, as another dragon flamed it from the sky. Oh, that was lucky. Even if they might be scolded later for not staying in formation, the thought of becoming one big tangle of pain and Thread was not an appealing one.

Lunamichith hurried back into position, sending her thanks to the dragon who had helped them.
