Name: Isha Age:19 Nameday: 3557.12.5 Sex: Female Sexual Orientation: ???sexual
Craft: Harpercraft Rank: Sr. Apprentice
Location: High Reaches Weyr
Physical Description: Standing at about 5'7", Isha considers herself rather average for height in a Weyr that seemed to tower. Her skin is a rich shade of brown and her eyes are a rather smart and sharp reddish-brown. Her hair is kept short and neat, as if it were long she feels it would only serve to get in her way and cause problems.
Clothing-wise she's quite fond of things that are long-sleeved and more dusky in color, though if anyone were to rummage through his wardrobe they may find a few brightly patterned outfits here and there. She does own a few traditional outfits to wear when summoned back home for proper celebrations, but those are tucked away where the light of day may not find them. Her favorite shoes usually are sandals, if she can wear them, but otherwise if something solid is required she favors comfortable, practical boots.
Personality: Isha isn't much of a talker, be it in terms of personal conversations or adding to group discussions. Nearly everything about her is kept close to the chest, for good or ill, and she's far more content to let others carry a conversation. That's not to say she's outright silent, as Isha talks while working and doing other tasks; the bottom line is if Isha doesn't have anything to add, she stay quiet. Extremely close friends and family are the most likely group to have heard her talk about whatever is going on and whatever tickles her fancy, but even then dialogue isn't long and rambling. It's safe to say Isha doesn't like wasting time talking about things at random, even though she doesn't seem to mind listening to folks prattle on. This is something of a problem when she decides to keep issues to herself, at least when they are regarding personal matters; perhaps it's her nature to want to do things herself that causes her to clam up.
Isha gets stuff done and gets it done quickly with little to no extra effort. Part of it stems from her want to be left alone/not have to deal with others, and another piece of it comes from her want to get it done correct the first time so as to not have to do it again. She's by no means a perfectionist and there will be times she has to start over, but generally whatever task Isha puts herself towards she completes without issue and in good time. She loves to make lists. Capable of handling tasks to various degrees under her own power, she's quite good at doing things by herself without the need for instructions or assistance. Known (in her family and to some close friends, at least) for being able to make good, rational decisions from a young age, her ability to function independently has been something of a hallmark to her personality. Of course the importance of being independent also means understanding when to ask for help if needed and also recognizing those situations, which Isha (begrudgingly) can do. Sometimes. She's getting better.
It should be no surprise that, while being rather untalkative and more than happily independent, Isha could be considered quite....stubborn. Isha's used to doing things herself - and sort of in her own way, for that manner - which result in the occasional situation in which everything is not as okay as she'd hoped. It should be clear that she's just stubborn, not proud, in her drive to do things herself and get it done how she wants it. Advice she is given is properly filed away and, depending on how absolutely deep she sinks herself, can and will be used eventually. It's safe to say she's set in her ways of what she likes and doesn't like, what she is and isn't willing to do, but Isha is absolutely by no means inflexible. She will not outright refuse to do tasks she's assigned, even if she thinks differently about it, and she certainly won't sass anyone in a position of authority. It's rather hard to succeed at anything if you're unwilling to properly follow instructions, after all.
Isha's also a bit of a neat freak in that she prefers things to be organized and tidy. Shoes go with shoes, you don't leave clothes on the floor, and for the love of all things important, don't mix. Mix what? Does it really matter when the point simply is don't? Not yet to the degree where it can be classified as obsessive compulsive due to the fact she allows a little clutter and finds some forms of it "pleasing to the eye", it's more that Isha prefers things to just look good at first glance and not have to be worked around to fixed to get what should have originally been given. People who are generally sloppy in appearance and actions will get a wary side-eye from her, and if they somehow invade her space and cause strife she will downright avoid them even more in the future.
Naturally curious in almost all regards of the word, Isha enjoys learning new things and seeking new things out. She's always keen to try her hand at an experience at least once or twice (depending on the outcome), and her zest for knowledge cannot be understated. Thankfully she is not nosy or a busybody, as her curiosity does not extend towards the well-being or actions of others unless it somehow directly impacts her and her own personal interests. It's fairly easy to pique her curiosity with rumors and gossip, however it is hard to hold it in place if those claims turn out to be false and intentionally spread to cause problems.
Positive Trait List Efficient, independent, curious Negative Trait List Reticent, clean freak, stubborn
History: Originally a Weyrbrat who got luck enough to be taken to a crafthall, Isha's early life was rather uneventful and rather par the course for anyone born of a rider and a worker in the lower caverns. She doesn't know her father, and her time with her mother was short once she was given the chance to pursue a craft. Having taken to enjoying writing, she moved to the Harper Hall once she was of age and remained there for many Turns.
Life at the hall was also fairly uneventful, with Isha neither flourishing ahead of her class nor falling behind and causing a scene. Friends and enemies were made in equal measure as the Turns passed, with her day to day activities following the typical path of an apprentice. She excelled at tasks when given what she needed, as many others did, and spent most of her time alone in studies when also afforded that opportunity. Her passion for writing in any and all forms aided her zeal to continue her studies, which slowly moved her along.
When Thread came, initially Isha was unaffected. The hall was safe enough, and she was not a rider, so when everything happened she worried much like the others but not to a degree of panic. The dragonriders had trained for this, she told herself, and they'd all be fine and dandy and nothing would go wrong. High Reaches would absolutely be fine, they were the cream of the crop. Then the letters came about riders who were injured, riders who'd passed away - some were merely names she'd heard while living at High Reaches all those Turns ago, yet some had faces she could place to them. But what exactly could she, an apprentice at a Crafthall, do about it? Panic and worry wouldn't help anyone, and she turned to busying herself with lessons and whatever else she could as a distraction. She did start writing more letters home to family and friends, though.
A few more Turns passed in this manner, and Isha started preparing to walk the tables and become a Journeyman. When news of a clutch at High Reaches reached the Crafthall, and search dragons along with it, Isha found herself returning back home and to eggs on the Sands.

I'm going to be honest. What I'm reading from Isha does not suggest someone who would be found on a Search - at least not at High Reaches. Especially with the way Candidatemaster F'dral has been tightening the restrictions on behavior. Someone is asocial, grouchy, and prefers to be independent is probably not going to be a prime choice for a Candidate or happy at a Weyr (as a dragonrider or Candidate).
Can you tone one of these things down? Right now it feels like they'd be shooting themselves in the foot with this. The Weyr does not have time to socialize their Candidates. OOCly, we've had a lot of these character types come through in the past with some pretty mixed results. It's a little tough to justify why the Weyr keeps bringing them in.
Additionally, was she impacted by Thread's return at all? As short as her history is, I would still expect some mention of it.
