Just like every other thread, the avatar talk subforum have rules wich need to be followed, and many that the users and members of the forum try to support. So this section is dedicated to all the general rules of gaia as well as those unlisted ones the users try to follow.

1. Always follow the T.O.S

2. Do not make a rate me thread when wearing less then 5 items. Most ATer's see 5 under 5 items as being incomplete, so instead of asking for an overall rate ask for a rate on your progress, as well as suggestions and ways to make the outfit come together.

3. Do not make a avatar contest if you don't know what your doing. Read through the two contest stickies AT has, so you can make a proper contest thread. [contest directory & Judging]

4. Learn how to rate and what the ratings scale is before rating people.

5. Don't make duplicate post just because no one came into the first one. Also do not make duplicate post of rate me threads just because you changed your outfit. AT is slow at times, so just be patient.

6. If you notice someone flamming, breaking the T.O.S, or a misplaced thread please notify a crew member.

7. Do not bump your threads unless they are twords the very bottom of the forum. AT moves slow at times, if your bored and are looking to only bump do so in the chatterbox.

8. When going into a thread be sure to read the full first post. Also if you happen to see "closed", "gone" or something along those titles the person is obviously not thier so just let the thread die and move on to another.

HOW TO RATE

One of the main things in AT is rating one another. As of late alot of peoples rating skills have seem to go down, and in some cases they are more of a flame then a rate. So this section is here to help everyone rember what a good rate is, and also to help everyone new learn how to rate.

THE DO'S OF RATING.
--> Do rate people in a polite mannor.
--> Do be honset, no matter who it is you are rating.
--> Do be helpful, give suggestions and comments to help out the person you are rating.

THE DONT'S OF RATING.
--> Don't be baised about items you don't like personaly.
--> Don't be baised about specific colors, or color schemes you do not like personaly.
--> Don't be rude, and flame. If you don't like the persons outfit at all, don't rate them with a number if you cannot be nice about it. Instead give them some suggestions on how to improve thier outfit.
--> Don't just give a number. If your ging to rate someone the least you can do is give them a number rate and a short explination of why you are giving them this number. Rember to be open minded and give gereal suggestions and item suggestions as well.
--> Don't rate someone highly just because they are your friend or well known around the AT be honest.

OTHER THINGS TO REMEMBER.
--> If someone is wearing only a couple items, but they don't seem to match very well. Don't flame them because of this and write something like you suck/10. Instead give them a lower number or no number at all, as well as some suggestions on what they need to improve on.
--> Here in AT we are big on originality, but does that mean just because its plain or all black its unoriginal? Well the answer is no, just because its plain or all black dosen't mean its unoriginal, take a close look at the item combinations and how often you see them now before saying its unoriginal and giving a lower rate.
--> Thier are many different styles found amoungst the ATer's. These styles are very diverse and unique. In order to give a good quality rating make sure you know these styles, and when rating a person keep the style they were aiming for in mind.

Behavior Expectations:

Having a really bad attitude can get you in trouble if you take it to the point of trolling or harrasment or flaming.

Have an Open mind - Users comes form all sorts of places, have all sort of opinions and all sorts of Fashion sense. Keep this in mind. Newcomers should know that in general, the AT has a sense of fashion or a basis on which avatars be rated. If you want people to rate you based on how it looks for a role play or a cosplay character, make you you say so in your request. The more communication the better people make avatars for all sorts of purposes

Be honest, but be kind - Helpful criticism is fine, and honesty is always helpful...but no matter how bad an avatar is, uneccessary rudeness or cruelty will simply NOT be tolerated. if if you want to tell someone to scrap their avatar and start over, there is ALWAYS a polite way to say it.

Don't hate on newbs/oldbies - Elitism sucks, and even newbs can have interesting things to contribute. Likewise, Regs are not all stuck up assholes. All users are created equally, and only behavior, not your join date or fashion sense, can speak for your integrity.
