I really want to make a character in Exalted (a fairly high powered RPG) who grew up hearing stories about the great and glorious heroes of yore. I want a character who has suddenly been gifted with all of these immense powers, but who has very little 'real world experience' and is mostly very confused about what to do next, other than to try and be more like old stories. What do you guys think? whould that be a viable character? If you have any advice or comments, post them here.

So he's got all these legendary powers, but he doesn't know what the ******** he's doing?

DON'T GODMOD!

And nobody will care. Unless your character ius uber-supah-meh-powerful/

Interesting idea for a story maybe, but not a character. It's godmoding at it's finest of subtleties.

Oh, and the first time I saw your title I lol'd, thinking it said "who wants to be an hero?"

Nonono, you don't understand. He's talking about a specific roleplaying game where god-modding is pretty much the only way to play.

You play as a person blessed by a god, and given insane amounts of power, and then shoved into a world where the margin of power is basically you. If things are less powerful then you they're WAAAAY less powerful, and if things are more powerful then you, they will more then likely turn you into paste from just looking at you.

Seee?

Hmm. . . You all do have a point, I might try to find a way to cripple my character a bit, so that he is the embodiment of the rookie god. Hmm. . . I wish I knew if there were old fables in the world of exalted. . .

I 'spose I should have given my opinion on the topic at hand... sweatdrop Dunno why I skipped that in my last post.

I was going to do a Diskworld camp, and I realize that this charactor would have been an intresting addition to that party. He would have made a good main charactor I think. I can imagine him in that campaign, acting all confused as he tried to lead a half death-half time demi-god time monk, and a tribe of Nac Mac Feegle to stop two countries from blowing each other up (the theme was going to be the arms race).

I'm not quite learned enough in Exalted to be able to tell a person like you how you can make the charactor work for it though... oh well, at least I gave my imput.

Edit: NOWAIT! Why can't you make a fable up? I mean, the game can't provide you with everything you need to play, you have to make up SOMETHING. Like say he lived in some backwater village, who worshiped a pidily little river god, and then someone came around and beat the god into submission, and in his weakend state he decided to lend his power to this kid. Kid don' know what to do tho. And there you have it, story of his life.

It might be cool to give him a few dots of mentor, and say that the spirit of the mostly dead river god decided to stay with the kid and coach him. You never know.

Hmm . . . This is true. I guess there could be A lot of random old fables. . . I just thought that most would be. . . more historically accurate being as crazy crap allways happens in creation. But I supose that not everyone would know truth from fiction, or vice versa. *Ponders the situation.*

I go with Jimmy and make up some crazy backwater story.

The backwaters have very crazy legends so knock yourself out.

But I do think that's a pretty darn good idea. Just make him a bit more clueless.
