So here’s the topic. Why in today’s society has it become a pressured point for teenagers from thirteen up to lose their virginity? I have seen people made fun of because they have decided to or just have kept their virgin status. How right is that? So now I have to ask again, why has the shift occurred that marks virgins as the new 'whore'?

Well, nowadays, all that children see on the streets is couples making out and not only on the streets but also on movies.. I mean for God's sake there is animated porn!! How sick is this?!?! scream Children or Teens do what they see, they think that since you are no more a virgin you are old enough.. They consider it a game or just a way to prove something to elder people.. And since you haven't had a sexual relationship yet it means that you haven't grown up enough yet and still are ashamed of the opposite sex's body.. They dont get that sex is had only when there is this strong feeling of physical and mind attraction..(I won't say love because most of you dont believe in its existance) On the other hand, they do it to prove to others that they are able to love, even though they are doing the opposite!! Elder people keep on repeating how they are not able to love and thats why they think of sex in a way to prove themselves ... able to love.. Thank God am still a virgin lol biggrin 4laugh blaugh

It is up to parents and schools to properly educate kids about sex and the realities associated with it. Not just STDs and pregnancy, and not just advocating abstinence either. Simply telling people not to have sex will do nothing but encourage them to do it, thereby increasing the stigma on virgins.

Let's clarify this once and for all. Teenagers don't loose their virginity because of peer pressure, they loose it for the same reason everyone does. Because sex feels great, and when your hormones are kicking in, it's pretty damn hard not to give in to them.
Although I've seen people made fun of for being virgins, but that's to be expected from such an ignorant generation.

Teenagers have been subject to peer pressure for centuries. Society today has in a sense more than clearly advertised sex in numerous ways. Television commercials, series, magazines, newspaper...look at the pictures and stories put in the things.
It is really up to the parents of our youth today to tell them everything there is to know about sex with a mature approach. Sex has never been simply a physical binding of two people, but an emotional one as well. Whereas sex today is even more so disregarded and seen as not more than a toy. Not to mention a number of teens out there are not told of all the consequences.

And while a higher-than-average percent amount of them do, they really don't go farther than imagining what sex, etc. would be like.
For example, I've never taken a knee to what pop-culture said, neither have most of my friends. And our parents haven't really pep talked us about sex.

For example, I've never taken a knee to what pop-culture said, neither have most of my friends. And our parents haven't really pep talked us about sex. I would say that's inaccurate, as teenage pregnancies have been on the rise for the last couple of decades. Many teens don't understand the consequences of sex, or have misconceptions about contraception. It has even gotten to the point where several groups advocate the distribution of condoms in public high schools to reduce the pregnancy rate. Since these teens obviously aren't having sex to have children, and are shocked when they are told that you CAN get pregnant the first time, that "pull and pray" DOESN'T work, and when other misconceptions are cleared up, it can be inferred that they were not adequately educated nor prepared for sex, and therefore only made the decision based on being influenced by outside sources, including the media and peer pressure. Whether or not parents ARE talking to their kids about sex is not the issue, it's that they SHOULD be, and it seems rather apparent that they aren't.

Alright let me clarify. I know that many teenagers who are 'free with their bodies' are still called 'whores and sluts' I agree that many teenagers arn't properly introduced to sex ed. at a young enough age. As for the idea that most teenagers have sex because if feels good, you have to ask yourself, where do they learn or hear that it feels good, from their peers. Yet, Peer Pressure wasn't really my intent on this subject, but I guess it did sort of point that way. I'm just curious is all. At eighteen I have chosen to stay a virgin and even lost a boyfriend over the choice, but let me say, I do not look down upon those who have already become sextually active, just those who decide to do so for all the wrong reasons like oh popularity. People who purposly pressure friends to give it up and advice to young people who, in my opinion, really shouldn't even be over playing with dolls. Does that make any sense? Sorry if I'm just blabbering, heh.

Elder people keep on repeating how they are not able to love and thats why they think of sex in a way to prove themselves ... able to love.. Thank God am still a virgin lol biggrin 4laugh blaugh Personally i don't think what people do with other people should be anyones concern but the people whom are involved....despite what the world influences you to do not everyone follows what they see...my fiance is 28 and has been sexually active since she was 12 ...why?because she was matured enough and felt sexual urges. not that thats any of your buisness its the fact that is shouldn't matter to everyone what she did or for that matter what she didn't do....being a virgin or not in the end doesn't matter and i know alot of people do not understand that.... there has to be something for people who are young to think that makes them better then everyone else and they use that as something that they think is wrong or right.... in the fact that they want to seperate the classes of people with how they act and what they do. There is always going to be pressure to be something that someone is not... the pressure doesn't come from other people doing it it comes from wanting to fit in and conform with what people want....I think that people should just let others do as they please and stop with the BS but we all know that that will never happen because its part of the human psyche that tells us we have to try and be better then everyone else but that will never be true ...no one is better...just diferent ...and the next time you think that someone is acting what they see maybe you should think that thats not whats going on maybe they are simply just getting the idea and the thought of doing that so that know that they "can" do it....kids see people kill others on tv and all that jazz....not all of them do it....and yes yes i know the mentally unstable ones go on a shooting rampage but the normal ones they all usually have their own morals and they see sex as not a bad thing...virginity isn't something to be proud of or shunned about its something that is simply a fact of you....as long as your morals go with how you act then there is no reason to care what they say and thats how i taught my kids...I tell them that they can make their decisions ...being as they are old enough for that stuff...but remember what matters to them ....and lastly...never try and push your morals on someone else..its not your place to tell someone how they should act or do...they will do what they will to their morals....you cannot control that.

Proud to be a Virgin. Oh yeah. OUr government doesn't support anything within Sex Ed besides ABSTININCE, even though it's been PROVEN that telling the kids the TRUTH lowers teen pregnancies and STDs SIGNIFICANTLY!!! The county loses 2/3s of their funding if they choose anything but ABSTININCE!!
WHAT THE ******** IS WRONG WITH OUR GOVERNMENT???
Also, don't put a condom in your wallet or pocket, because the folding and heat (friction) will make holes. biggrin

I don't understand it either. Maybe because the empty sex makes them sad, and they want other people to be sad.
VIRGIN FOR LIFE (By choice or otherwise sweatdrop )!

Maybe they want to know what it feels like or maybe they think they're really in love and if they lose it to their bfs/gfs...it'll make the relationship better?? I don't really know, it's just my educated guess...or maybe they do think it's cool to lose it, because of how their environment are and that those who havent' done it aren't cool...perhaps?

I've been wondering that too.
It's funny how the world is becoming more corrupted by day by day.
People really shouldn't be pressured into losing their virginity...because they'll lose it to someone who's more significant...not just some dorky middle-schooler or high-schooler that they met and they *think* they're in love and what not.
