Roll: 4 - You're so focused on flaming Thread that you miss a clump of thread blows up on the wind -- beneath you! If a brown or bronze, your heavier size does cause your tail to get caught! Finally, the wind got tired of taking Nasath's s**t. It slung a clump of thread up from below, singing into the bronze's underside and sending him winking away between for just a moment. Touche, wind; touche...

Silviu and blue Aramath First Wave, Day 2 (5/5)
Quote:
You appear from Between and find the space you were hoping would be clear now has a large sheet of Thread being guested towards it. You've only a moment to decide where to go, and both you and your dragon pick a spot and hop Between in an attempt to avoid Thread. Roll a D4 and take whatever damage or XP you're given!
Quote:
3: You're fully clear of the danger! Phew! That was close! +1 Extra Between Accuracy
The pair found themselves in another dire situation, but this time there was no hesitation. Silviu spotted a clear patch of sky, pointed his dragon's mind to it, and they vanished, reappearing safely. There was no rapid hopping back this time, however. Aramath's anger had been spent, and they left that particular clump of Thread to their wingmates.

REVENGE IS MINE, WIND!! The bronze dove through the swirling currents with ease, beating at them with his wings... as if the wind was a rival, some Phylideth-faced fiend to be overcome.
Dharmath was gone. One moment there, the next, caught by a wingmate's flame, and then...gone. Mazamath keened, and felt the resulting tension rise up within His, the grief over the loss and the fear that it could have been them. The relief that it wasn't, and the guilt for feeling such a thing. He sent her gentle waves of reassurance, and, noticing another of their bronzes hop between - but quickly return, thank Faranth! - he bugled encouragement. The wind is as fearsome as the Enemy today. I do not envy that you will be up here twice as long. Do take care, Pipith!

The wind was making their job even more difficult today, and sometimes it was a struggle just to keep in formation, but Mazamath hung on gamely and stayed firmly in position.

Adi and Blue Mazamath (First Wave) 3/5
All things considered, wind included, the pair had been fairly lucky thus far, with Mazamath on point and deftly avoiding Thread's attempts to score them...but they did wind up blown right into a cloud of ash - better than Thread by far, but by Faranth did it sting!
Quote:
3. Flaming down Thread, you find yourself getting blown right into the cloud of ash! It stings and burns, but you're pretty sure no Thread was alive in the cloud. [If a green, or blue take Moderate Damage -5HP but gain +2 Pain Resistance.]

Shaking off the unpleasantness of being ashed, the blue returned to formation, and crooned reassurance and encouragement at his nearest wingmate. He was perfectly fine, and they had this!

Adi and Blue Mazamath (First Wave) 5/5
The wind was a worse enemy than Thread today, or so it seemed for Mazamath. The large blue fought against it valiantly, doing his best to stay in formation and keep from being blown into danger, but his repeated efforts to do so resulted in a pulled muscle. It was far better than being blown into a clump of Thread or a wingmate's flame, but it still hurt!
Quote:
8. As you're flying, the wind picks up again, trying to knock you out of formation. If 23' to 35', you're able to fight it, but wind up pulling a wing muscle. Whoops. Maybe you over-compensated. -4 HP

Set'al and Bronze Pipith 1/5
Pipith barely had time to keen for his fellow bronze before the rough winds blew some stray strands of Thread his way. They brushed his leg, and he blinked between immediately to ensure that they didn't have a chance to cause more than minimal damage.
Quote:
6. The wind is getting pretty bad. You struggle through, but wind up having to be extra alert for the windblown Thread! This is not a good situation to be in! [Browns and bronzes aren't quite as lucky. They maneuver as they can, but still wind up scored. Minor Damage -2 HP

Moments after they reappeared, Pipith asked for more firestone only to bite his tongue while chewing it. Augh! He rumbled his frustration, but unexpected encouragement from one of his blue wingmates soothed his annoyance, and enabled him to put the discomfort out of mind. There were greater concerns at hand!
Quote:
13. Ouch! Feeding your dragon some firestone has resulted in them biting their tongue! This is going to distract your dragon for the next three rolls. Their flaming aim will go down, and they might be slower to dodge out of Thread's way. [Tongue Bitten Effect! Your dragon is distracted by pain. No XP will be earned for the next 3 rolls. Any successes will be nullified. Should you roll a prompt with the possibility of damage, take the max damage allotted for your size/color automatically but it will also end the Tongue Bitten Effect immediately.]
Saved from negative effect by Mazamath!

The strong, frequent gusts of wind made it especially tricky to destroy or avoid tangles of Thread, and as the hopped between to what had been a clear space a moment before, a sheet was blown straight towards them! In the space of a moment, they blinked out of sight and reappeared still close enough to flame a good chunk of the tangle before hopping away again to relative safety.

-- 4. You not only manage to blink out of danger, but you blink back again, flame half of the clump, and blink away again only to appear a safe distance away. It's an impressive display of thread fighting power! Good job! Word will be going around the lower caverns tonight! +2 Extra Between Accuracy

Set'al and Bronze Pipith 4/5
Relative being the key word. A windblown strand caught the edge of his wing, sending him between to prevent it from eating into his wingsail.

Thread falls, and a sneaky strand winds up chewing on your wingsail. You pop Between to ease the pain, and come out flaming. It hurts, but it's small tubers compared to what it could have been! +1 Pain Resilience]
As Miehrath roared, the pair popped between, letting the thread fall off, dead, as they emerged to flame another patch. He let the pain roll off of him, shrugging it off as best he could.

Set'al and Bronze Pipith 5/5
Someone was in trouble! Pipith blinked rapidly between to go to their aid, but...but all he did was get in the way and make it worse! He creeled shame and apology, and all but slunk back to his place in formation.
Quote:
9. As you're fighting Thread, you see your nearby wingmate in danger. You immediately blink between, falling out of formation, but hoping to save them! Roll a D4. -- 3. You overshoot, and listen to your wingmates scream in pain as they're caught by thread, distracted from their fight by your sudden presence. Oh no! [Take 3 turns of Guilt! Any Damage rolled takes an additional -2 HP. Any successful bonuses by other players don't affect your character. You just don't deserve it.]
