Ah! The young green came! Phaedrath's eyes whirled pleasantly between green and blue as she looked over the youngling, though a small hint of concern tinged her mind - and in turn, Alosha's - as she struggled to remain steady.
The bag of stone began to fall from it's too-short throw, and Phaedrath brushed her mind against Cynosuth's briefly, acknowledgement - and acceptance - of the apology offered as she ducked to go after it briefly. She twisted, rider secure in her straps, allowing Alosha to reach out and grab the bag with both hands.
Then alarm. The pale green felt something strike her wing and with a kreel of pain, she rolled, making sure her rider was steady against her before blinking away. She'd emerge some yards away, frozen thread crumbling away from her wing and red in her eyes.
How dare it! Though of course, none of it had been Cynosuth's fault.

Round 3, Day 2
It had been a rough Threadfall. Zheria had been focused on Eveleth, the surrounding patches of Thread, and taking status reports from her queen. Thistreth and she had been in communication, along with some of the local Flight Leaders. Dragons were going down faster than the woman liked, and she knew D'mon would have words about that. Though she had some sympathy for the deteriorating conditions she was angry that so many were falling.
Yes, Thread was to blame . . . but surely, some of these riders weren't taking D'mons earlier caution in mind. How many bronzes had fallen? Honestly. They could take more than the smaller colors, so what was going on? She couldn't possibly believe the blues and greens were fully to blame, or the wind. Hmph. Men and their arrogance.
Her anger, of course, was not entirely justified, and she knew it. But it was easier to be angry than to be worried, or show any dent of weakness. Threadfall was nasty, and many of these riders were likely to die by Thread, or Threadfall related injury. She could not, would not, let herself be affected. Not while they were in the fray. Not while they were in public.
Ah, but her anger had a new focus. Siloth falls.
A Wingleader. A Wingleader. Come, daughter-Mine. If he falls from me, you will catch. And with that, the queen turned. She flew up, up, up, past the weyrlings, dodging Thread, and flying right through the falling ash. She had her target, and knew Fianth was not far behind. She hoped she was large enough to make the catch, but Siloth was not a small dragon . . .
Thankfully, Fianth would assist, if needed.
Eveleth! Zheria warned, even as her queen sped, perhaps, too quickly towards Siloth. The dragon was large, and though she broke his fall, she could immediately tell that he would not stay on. Given he was out cold, she couldn't even command him to hold tight.
Catch him, Fianth! Eveleth warned, even as the bronze slipped. Thankfully, the pale queen did her duty and did so well. She had time enough to slip beneath the bronze, and though he was larger than she, and heavy, the paler gold would not let him fall.
In a flash they disappeared, to return to the Weyr, and to deliver Siloth to the healers.
Eveleth, with eyes flashing red, returned back to their Wing.

Thank you, Phaedrath. You are very kind, Cynosuth said, and then cried out in alarm when a large swathe of thread slipped past the wings above quite close to her! As she rolled away, and banked hard to avoid it, a sharp pain filled her. Darling, be careful. You've pulled a muscle.

The wind continued to be as much their enemy as the Thread, and they were blown away from a clump they intended to flame. Roaring defiance, Hyglath flashed between to get closer to it, and burned it to ash.

Thella gasped and Lireloth gave a surprised little trumpet as V’kenti and Takarath appeared before them suddenly, exactly where the ball of Thread had been just milliseconds before. Lireloth, still startled but realizing after a moment that he was being praised, gave a mental chuckle to the wingleader's dragon as he flew in a graceful circle, clearly showing off just a bit.
Thank you, Takarath. Do be more careful next time, he added with a teasing tone to his voice before winging back to his spot in the formation. Thella rolled her eyes at her dragon's sass but gave a little wave to V'kenti in thanks.

They were far from the only ones having difficulty with the wind, and spotted someone being blown off course and right towards a patch of Thread. Bellowing a warning, Hyglath swooped in to burn away the danger.

The wind is strong and trying hard to buffet you. If brown or bronze you see one of your wingmates struggling against the wind. They're getting blown out of their empty airspace, and dangerously close to a patch of Thread! You are able to twist and accurately flame down the clump they were going to fly into, saving them from Threadscore! Quote a Wingmate that took Threadfall Damage and nullify it! You saved them from the pain!

And then suddenly Dormith and W'dre were going up-up-up! They'd hit a thermal of air that sent dragon and rider from their position - but the bronze wasn't having it, leaning his weight to force himself back into position.
He was nothing, if not durable, at least.

The wind was quite the problem up here at high altitude, but that was fine by Hyglath! He was up to the challenge! And when windblown Thread threatened yet another comrade-in-arms, he was more than ready to help with an eager flame.

The wind was at least not much of a problem for a dragon his size, as Cordrath's weight kept him from being pushed around too much...but then there was thread in it as well that kept blowing about. Even as he twisted to try and flame it, it got away from him!
But it seemed M'nr's new friend had come to their aid, so they'd have one less score for the day's efforts at least.
Thank you Cordrath rumbled to his bronze-in-arms. It was at least some sliver of good in what felt like waves of bad luck.

Well, s**t. That was bad. Z'tir and Siloth were down, though from the lack of keening, they could at least surmise that the golds below had caught them. As to how bad it might be...they could only guess, but couldn't afford to spend time on such speculation, not with the winds howling and Thread all around them. Their earlier failure to pay attention to their surroundings had already earned Dobrokhoth an impressive new score, and their wingleader would surely be disappointed in them if they allowed themselves to be distracted further.
M'yk wrangled his brown's focus back to the here and now, and Dobrokhoth responded with a vengeful roar before flaming down a tangle of Thread.

Like the dancer she was, however, Cynosuth recovered. The thread moved on, and so did she, diving and twirling out of the way. I will do my best to make you proud, Cynosuth sent quietly to Aresoth. Menankith, please don't get any more hurt. For me? Her dear brother needed to get some rest, and soon!
