"But what if that scary man came after him? Then he wouldn't be able to make him go away and he could hurt him like he hurt mommy...." She murmured, gripping his hand tightly as she now looked at the ground.

"That scary man would have your mommy and me to deal with. And with the cops watching out for him now he's not likely to show up again unless he wants them and us fighting back." Adrian told her. "And as his big sister, you'll have to help watch out for him too, when you get a little older."

"Mommy said they still haven't found him though. She said he was like her and she could hide really good when she didn't want the be found and run away really fast if she needed to." She murmured. Even after all these months, Calista was nervous going to and from school everyday. She was scared he'd show up again, or go after her mom again when she was alone and then her mom would die. It was a lot for a now eight year old child to be worried about, though the complications of her family's situation had kind of forced it on her at this point.

"You know if anything happens to either of you, I'll fly right to you. He can hide all he wants, he'll have to come out sooner or later." Adrian told her. "And it has been six months. He's just a jerk if he tries to make a move after this long. The guy really needs to learn to just let things go."

"But he is a jerk. Or that's what mommy's said." Calista argued with a sigh as they reached the front of her school. "Do you think he'll come back and try to hurt mommy?" She asked quietly, not moving to go in the school yet.

"I don't know." Adrian said squatting down to be at her level. "But I promise I'll do my best to protect her and Riley, okay? Now do I get a hug before you go?" he asked with a reassuring smile.

Calista nodded, seeming a little more at ease now as she smiled to him and wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him tight before she let go and ran inside the school. "Bye daddy! See you after school!" She called, waving as she walked inside.

Amaya was waiting at home, having finished breakfast, now in the shower as she tried to get ready for the day.

"I'm home." Adrian announced as he came through the door and began taking off his coat. "Any paparazzi try to spy on you while I was gone?" he joked.

"Had one brave one approach the apartment a little to close for my comfort. He got dumped in the alley and had the crap scared out of him." Amaya told him as she stepped out of the shower, drying off now.

"Props for having the balls to do that. He gets said props taken away though for trying it with a mutate. Your balls don't matter when your shadow can be used against you." Adrian said heading into the kitchen to finally have his own breakfast now that he had the time to enjoy it.

"It would seem that way." Amaya muttered as she walked out, dressed but with damp hair. She'd gotten Marco to make all of her clothes, and he demanded to be able to make some of the baby's clothes, though he seemed to regret it a bit when everyone suddenly was trying to figure out if the baby was a boy or girl by the clothes he was making for it. Marco needed to step up security at his studio, which meant far more than Jack was needed on the premises. "You get Calista off to school okay?" She asked as she took a seat at the table.

"Yeah, though she still seems worried about Sloan though." Adrian told her with a slight sigh. "Mostly about what would happen if the baby's not a mutate and Sloan gets to him."
