K'der
"... I think this is going to have a lot of fall out, like throwing a glass of water into a pan of hot grease." K'der told Niobet, thoughtfully, absently biting his knuckle again, but not with the savagery he had earlier. A pause in his distraction had left him reminded of his own nerve endings, and it was sending small needles of pain up his arm, and Ysengreth rumbled through his thoughts in discouragement.
He was... well... damn if he'd say he wouldn't enjoy watching the heads of two Weyr's posture and strut at each other like some kind of decorative Wherry on a mating display.
He just wasn't sure he liked being in a position to be hit by the fall out.
"Not a lot of greens." He added. "...Surprising number of whites." More surprising number of damn shaffing bronzes. He did not care for bronzes. As far as he could tell, bronzes and their riders were only good for chasing golden tail and shoving people around to try and make themselves look more important. Their dragons tended to be the size of their egos.
"Think we can afford this fork measuring contest?" He demanded, folding his arms across his chest and leaning back, frowning at the sands, the candidates who had -actually fallen asleep- because apparently blues and greens were just that interesting. Little shits. If he thought for a second he'd be granted that kind of authority after a life time of... shenanigans... he'd enjoy having a go at some of the little lippy monsters, and that, he felt, was saying something. Golds and their riders he found... questionable at best most of the time, but they could clutch, and without golds he would not have his one and only love.

Halvor
Like the other candidates, and Tarnaria, he felt the heat, dry mouth, and tiredness. However, he'd dealt with much worse for less favorable reasons. "There are much worse things we could endure--and for much less," he responded truthfully. "There's not that many dragonets left to impress, so we'll be able to get a drink soon," he added as he sized up the newly emerged blue. He couldn't quite get a read on it. Plus there were still the whites and the soon-to-be-hatched dragonet. Maybe it would hatch soon?
"You're right," he agreed, his eyes following the whites for a moment. They were indeed not twins, but he'd stick with it. There was something just so. . . pure about a white that he couldn't understand. Would never understand. But would they care that he was tainted? Would any of the dragonets? He wasn't sure. "Your leg. . . Do you think you could stand?"

Lelte
She had stood in the background. Held back out of fear of doing the wrong thing, of causing pain and distress and possible harm. She stood back as others stepped forward and found their lifemates. And while she was happy for them, she truly was, she couldn't help but feel a little resentful. Why hadn't she met Hers? Was there something wrong with her? Was she lacking somehow?
Tossing her head, she realised she couldn't just stand around feeling sorry for herself. She couldn't be frozen by fear or indecision. It was time for her to step forward. But where to turn her attention. What dragonet might be Hers?

Melhaika
A brief glance at the two newest hatchlings ( another green and a blue, neither of which seemed to show the level of strength and cruelty he could appreciate ) and he dismissed them. Lovely babies in their own right, but not, not what he thought should match his soul. He turned back to the green who had caused destruction and pain and was now out of the limelight in which she felt she should have, and which she deserved.
Lovely lady, you should be in the light. You deserve the world, to be the center. And when you find yours, you will be, and we will watch in awe as you become what you are meant to be.

S'mol and Bronze Valseth
S'mol took S'lys hand in his own giving it a firm shake which wasn't quite hard enough to crush his poor hand. Even though S'mol meant well he didn't know his own strength a lot of time. Nor was he prepared to risk insulting a fellow newly minted rider by treating him like fine china. "Ah well that doesn't seem like such a bad thing too me. We need to be able to work together in the air after all."
The future saviors of pern. He still couldn't quite get over it, high on the wing, searing thread from the sky... It took a hot minute before he realized that the images in his head were not entirely his own. They belonged to his bronze hided bonded who had drifted into day dreaming while watching the racing dragons tearing around the feeding station, picturing them all taking wing.
S'mol stood marveling at the in-connectivity of their shared minds until a bellowing roar of a queen followed by a rise in angry voices shattered the illusion. "By the red comments fiery a**, what the shard is going on?" He demanded. Valseth was the one to provide the answer. Grandmother is very displeased, and yes, the bronze was quite rude, but I think he only said those things because he cares about the candidates. Not a bad sort. Just saying things the wrong way. Of course the bronze was entirely too forgiving. No one was hurt by it really.
S'mol sighed, frankly he wondered why anyone would be such a sharding dimglow. But if Valseth was happy, he could be happy. I'd be happier if I got deal with this itch.
Oh right the oil! "Ah come on then, we'll get away from all this." Since several weyrlings had dived onto their dragons to stop them charging back onto the sands, it seemed smart to move away anyway.
However as the pair moved from the feeding station to the corner the oiling equipment was displayed, it was hard to miss the boy standing their, cool as a cucumber, with a knife sticking out of his foot. He did a double take unsure if his eyes were playing tricks. "By the first egg man, why arn't you getting that seen to?" He demanded of Yu'star. Valseth had also stopped to inspect the scene. "Or, if that's not to your liking, get it out yourself. Need to slow the blood first though, get a belt to strap the leg up and then have plenty of bandages handy."
He also glanced at the girl already standing their with bandages in her hand. "Whats the hold up? Can't help him?"he questioned the healer with a frown.

S'kagi and Green Rosmeth
Rosmeth asked, as she came to a skidding, panting stop near her partner, tilting her head as two others moved to help the boy who'd dropped a knife on his own foot. How strange. That must hurt!
The giant roar from the hatching sands didn't seem to have phased her, or, S'kagi knew... it was more that she was determined to get spirits back up. Sometimes people threw around ugly words, and sometimes they needed to, but she couldn't do anything about them yet, as she pushed her nose into S'kagi's palm and turned her attention to the laden table.
"That was... that was alarming."S'kagi admitted, rubbing the small bubbly greens headknobs as he reached to get her some food. Her empty stomach and his were an unpleasant loop of ravenous hunger, and he could only do something about hers so far, and counted on nerves and her satisfaction to help hold his own at bay.
He was glad he was out here where it was... quieter. Except that he didn't know any... wait. Was that...?
He perked up, briefly, like an candle flash when he thought he saw Helaku, raising a hand to try and draw the other boys attention and then letting it drop uncertainly.
