A confident and burst went through Ddraigth and into his wingmates. Dr'stan was more focused on what was going on around him and with the rest in his wing, knowing that Z'tir relied upon him. Every worry was pushed from his mind, just like every other Threadfall. Worry for Aniela as she and hers fought, but there was no time for that, not when they were waging a war with the silver menace.

Things were off to a great start, at the moment at least. Dr'stan did his best to keep track of his wingmates, watching and making sure they were find as well as helping Ddraigth to spot Thread. Though the smaller strands could be hard to see and with the wind the way it is, even harder. The pair didn't know they had gotten hit until Ddraigth let out a cry of pain and then, they were between.

One Breath. Two..The pair was back with Ddraigth belching flame at the enemy, red whirling in his eyes. Small tears had formed on his wingsail but the bronze easily continued to fight, he was fine, this was nothing he couldn't handle. He was a legend, after all.

After sending another wave of affection to any and all of his green wingmates, Nachith had nudged at His to bid him to mount and secure himself, knowing that the time to fight drew nearer and nearer. Then the signal came, and they were up and into the thick of it, with silver in every direction to be charred from the sky. The agile blue set to it with gusto, twisting out of the way of danger as he burned tangles of the wretched stuff to ash.

Some of which was dangerously close to one of his wingmates! The blue swooped in flame it to harmless ash, and without flaming the brown in the process! Success!

Although they were lower now, the wind was still strong. Zeath and M'aze were taking their time in getting back up to altitude, but in doing so they were hovering in an unprotected area. Another clump floated down from the lowest Wing and once again caught the duo in the back. This one burned through faster thanks to the wound already there and both man and dragon let out a snarl of pain before jumping Between again.

When they reappeared this time they were back in formation but looking a bit worse for the wear. Now there was blood and ichor alike dripping in the wind, twin grimaces on two faces as dragon and rider shared the pain to fight through it.

"We got this, Zeath, don't worry. You'll perk up and we'll get back on track.

True to form, whenever K'ladan's head began to grow and his pride began to overtake his sensibility, there was a reality check to be had.

A hard gust blew into Razasith's thick hide and sent the pair into an unexpected arc, blowing them down and away from the formation of their wing. K'ladan gripped hard as the fall pulled his stomach up into his throat and panic settled deep into his bones. The great bronze felt it and immediately put him at ease.

I am unharmed, K'ladanmine. We must be more careful, we can't afford to be this far out of formation.

K'ladan nodded even though he knew Razasith could not see it and tried to unwind his teeth from where they grinding into one another. He leaned into the neck of his mount and felt his great wings take them higher once more, back into position.

That was reckless, they might not be so lucky with another mistake like that.

17. Your dragon is effortlessly flaming Thread. Honestly, they almost seem to make it look easy. Both you and your dragon start to feel more confident, and even start to get a bit cocky. Low Altitude Wing was always the easiest wing to fly. Unfortunately for you.... Roll a D4!

1. A guest of wind sends you out of formation, and you know your Wingleader (or their Seconds) just saw.

2. You successfully flame another clump, but accidentally fly into the ash cloud, leaving you with some ash burns [Minor Damage -2 HP ]

3. Find a tangle of thread hitting you from behind! Quick, hop Between so it doesn't do more damage than it already has! [Moderate Damage -5 HP]

4. Appear from Between directly into a clump of Thread. There is no avoiding the tangles, and you and your dragon are scored in multiple areas. [Major Damage -8 HP!]

Irath flamed the thread ahead and snarled as the wind picked up trying to throw them out of formation. No. Not today. His muscles ached but he beat the wind and kept himself in formation. He would show them.

J'in nodded, keeping alert around them as the wind battered around them, hunkered against the muscular neck. They were clear and unlikely to get flamed by a team mate or thread burn. 'We are good, Irath.'

Low Alt Wing

They’d be starting low this time. Ly’bur was pleased as it gave them a chance to warm up before they switched up into the high altitudes. He was strapped in and ready when the signal came for lift off. Hinburath rose smoothly with his wing. He confirmed the coordinates with Ly’bur then took them between.

Three heartbeats of cold and dark, then there they were. Ly’bur held tight as the wings got ahold of them almost as soon as they appeared. Shards this was going to be a hard Fall. Dig in Hinburath. He felt the brown rumble then voice a roar at the oncoming thread. No wind would daunt him! The brown pumped his webbed marked wings against the toss and turn of the wind.

The pair followed the higher altitude wings into the fray. Hinburath flamed mightily. It always was a bit chaotic at the start when the upper wings were trying to find their stride. They were doing fairly well until a silver thread appeared at the corner of his eyes. The brown did his best to evade, but let out a short squeal before hopping between to break off the dead threads. When they re-emerged, Ly'bur took a quick look over the wound. Moderate. Can you keep going? Yes, came the short reply as he flamed again.

Round 1: Day 1 Rolls
1. 9- Your dragon notices a sudden writhing stream of silver thread out of the corner of his or her eye. If a white, green, or blue, with surprising grace, they turn on a wingtip and manage to flame it to ash. You successfully flame it down. Al'ndru had gone over to V'kenti when he had called them over. The wingsecond listened to him, hearing Alucarth mumbling, especially since he was beside Mharlith. The bronze didn't have any more time to complain about the other wingseconds brown, a BROWN of all things, being larger then him. They were soon in the air next and in the thick of it.

Do try and focus. Alucarth scolded his rider just as he opened his mouth to flame, completely missing the small clump coming towards them. Alucarth! Al'ndru's words rang out in their bond as he did the only thing he could do, raise his arm to protect his face and chest from the clump coming towards him.

The silver threads connected, twining around his arm and the man cursed as he felt the burn and pain. Alucarth blinked between as quick as he could, the pair returning as Al'ndru unwrapped the thread from around his forearm. Al'ndrumine! I'm alright Alucarth. The man grit his teeth, his arm hurt, his jacket arm was destroyed and he did his best to salvage it. Come on, we have a fight to finish, and Thread to destroy.

Luck: 6 + 1 = 7

They appeared amidst a gust so strong that it took all of Suuth's concentration to fight it, and despite his nerves, H'win sent comforting thoughts to the dragon as they leveled off. Fortunately, they were right in the middle of a suspiciously barren patch of sky, which gave them plenty of time (relatively) to prepare and strike. Too bad it didn't seem to help. The blue's flame came up criminally short, making the thread he was aiming for the problem of the wingriders below him. H'win hoped no one had seen their fumble, but Suuth was less bothered, already moving forward toward the next patch of silvery death.

12. You try to flame down some Thread, but your flame comes up short. Whoops! Hopefully your Wingleader didn't see that. Nothing to be done about it now except eat some more firestone, and try to catch the next clump!

She had checked all that she could check and then some, and then clambered reluctantly up onto Hesperith, fastening herself carefully and taking deep breaths while her dragon supported her with quiet assurance...and gave a bit of a thrum as she took note of what weyrlings were a part of the Queen's Wing today. Poor little dears, so injured in their blooding that they weren't quite ready to fly with their classmates again yet! Not that they were all little, as that fetching dark brown was anything but, she couldn't help but notice...

Sylfie tapped her neck and cleared her throat. Save that for another day, maybe? Let's get through this first. And, you know, maybe let the brown finish growing up. The gold sighed, but assented, and then the time had come to begin the fight in the (assumed) relative safety of the Queen's Wing.

...but maybe not actually so safe. Perhaps because it was the very beginning of the Fall, but a very large clump of Thread had managed to make its way past all three altitudes of wings above them! Mine, look! Be ready!

The gold swooped after it to put Hers in the ideal position to burn it from the air, only for there to be no flame. No flame! Sylfie had been right not to trust that blasted flamethrower! But there was no satisfaction in being right, only agony as the Thread they should have burned to ash instead feasted upon them, and both Queen and rider screamed as they flashed between.

Despite his exhaustion, Lireloth continued to tough out the initial surprise of the wind. He was working through it and managed a neat if simple barrel roll to flame some Thread that had fallen through the upper wings.

The pair returned to their formation and settled in to resume their task, trying to shake off the mistakes they had just made. Razasith began crunching another round of firestone - only to bite his tongue in his hurry. A deep rumble poured through his clenched jaws as white-hot pain shot through his tongue. He managed not to dip or sway from formation but K'ladan knew immediately what had happened.

With all the comfort he could manage in such a high stakes situation, he patted a hand gently against Razasith's shoulderblade.

Take a deep breath. Let it pass.

Low Alt Wing

Ly'bur settled into the familiar groove of working with his dragon. This is what it meant to be a dragonrider! They worked together for several minutes to clear the skies around them of thread. Just as they had a moment to catch their breath, Ly'bur sensed something wrong. He couldn't see anything ahead of them yet. On a hunch he took a quick look over his shoulder. The sun glinted off a small silvery strand as it drifted toward them.

Hinburath sensed the danger from his rider and its location. The brown smoothly moved them up above it. Well spotted Ly'burmine! He washed his rider over in feelings of love, then it was back to business. Hinburath turned his head for another piece of firestone which he quickly chewed to be ready for the next piece of Thread that dared come their way.

Editing response for save from Nachith
The twist to save Mishaath threw Kalikath off balance so when the wind picked up again it was their turn to be knocked out of formation. In the time it took to fight to stay where they were supposed to be, it became a place they shouldn't be. Thread came in sideways and was about to hit Kalikath's side and legs. Kalikath could only move so it didn't hit is rider but as it got even closer Nachith came darting in and burned it to ash.

Good flaming Nachith! Thank you.
