You notice one of your wingriders is in need! Three clumps of thread are heading straight for them, while they are flaming down another impressive sheet. Ah, but your dragon is clever, and quick, and manages to flame all three down with short spits of fire. If a green, or blue rider, the thread turns to harmless ash, and both of you can continue on your way. [+3 Target Accuracy]If a brown, or bronze, you can't quite get over there in time. You call out to warn them, and manage to at least catch one clump while your wingmates blink Between. [+1 Target Accuracy]
Suddenly, there was a cloud of thread--no, three!--and one of their wingmates was right in the path of them. The brownrider was distracted by the thread in front of them. Miehrath whirled, eager to face the ultimate enemy, and let out three bursts of flame, charring each cluster with ease. The brownrider nodded his thanks, a gesture that Onyx barely noticed, but there was no time to celebrate their success. Thread continued to fall.

It was only after emerging from between that Onyx and Miehrath realized that it was unsafe; thread was moving towards them at an alarming rate, but they disappeared, reappearing just above it to flame the majority of the thread with a few short bursts of flame, one after another. Without looking to see how much was left, they immediately blinked away, reappearing far enough from the thread to avoid it entirely. Only then did they look to see how much was left, and watched it fall for a split second, knowing that the lower wings would get the last of it.

This again? As they emerged into their safe space, glancing away from the other thread clump, they realized there was a second mass heading towards them. Quick, where do they go? Naturally, they'd attempt the same maneuver--disappearing, and reappearing right next to the clump, to flame it, and...
Miehrath gave an undignified, surprised squawk upon realizing they'd appeared a little too close to it. It grazed his wings, so they quickly betweened again, reappearing a good distance from it, this time.
Whoops, Onyx thought to her dragon. How are you holding up, buddy? We're almost halfway through...do you want to stop for some healing?

Ouch! Feeding your dragon some firestone has resulted in them biting their tongue! This is going to distract your dragon for the next three rolls. Their flaming aim will go down, and they might be slower to dodge out of Thread's way. [Tongue Bitten Effect! Your dragon is distracted by pain. No XP will be earned for the next 3 rolls. Any successes will be nullified. Should you roll a prompt with the possibility of damage, take the max damage allotted for your size/color automatically but it will also end the Tongue Bitten Effect immediately.]
As Onyx nodded, she gave more firestone to her dragon. He would fly thread, a noble dragon who would run himself ragged to fight his ultimate enemy. She wouldn't let him get too ragged, but she felt the need, an echo of his, reverberating from his chest, thrumming through his veins, pulsing in his hearts. She could feel that singleminded drive with every fiber of her being. As he chewed the stone, however, his sharp teeth dug into his tongue. His eagerness resulted in pain, and he winced.
Cyndreth, a bronze flying nearby, called out to him. Duty calls, Miehrath! Will you fall to something so minor? the dragon sneered (despite getting a similar predicament earlier). To Onyx's surprise, her dragon was heartened by this, and continued to fly thread.

As they flew, the wind buffeted both them and the Thread as it fell from the wing above. Turoth had a bit of trouble heaving his massive body back and forth, but he and Ar'ad were seasoned professionals. It was taxing, but they managed to avoid any falling Thread.

They continued to fight the winds and watched as some smaller dragons were blown from formation. They managed to stay the course, but Turoth gave a bellow of pain before jumping between to rid himself of the Thread that had plastered itself to his hind leg and side. They reappeared a few moments later, bronze skin burning from the score. Ouch!

After shaking off the pain, Ar'ad and Turoth continued to fight. There was a moment when the pair spotted a wingmate in trouble, unaware of the clump heading right for them, and Turoth called a warning to his fellow dragon.

Just as he saved a wingmate, Turoth let out another snarl of pain as Thread scored him again right where he had just taken a hit. He glanced behind him after they jumped from Between, but there was no one at his flank to warn him.
I'll keep an eye out, Ar'ad said, glancing over his shoulder more now that the same thing had happened twice. Turoth nodded and turned forward, keeping an eye out in front.

Despite the scoring, Turoth flew on with ease. He was good at ignoring pain when he had something to focus on. On the ground he was a bit more of a baby, but in the air or during a flight he was nothing but resilient. Ar'ad sent a wave of encouragement towards his bronze and the two flew on, ready for whatever came their way.
The wind started to pick up as Fadeth and E’nd did their best to keep their position without being thrown too far off course. It wasn’t until the bronze twisted with a muttered groan, glancing E’nd realized a clump had gotten too close despite their best efforts.

Flames licked in front of Fadeth before a gust of wind sent the mass in the their direction, E’nd could feel the cold airless void as they moved in between. A second later they appeared above the mass of free from danger.

So far they had been managing to avoid any sort of trouble from the thread for a bit, even more so there was a small lull in between the mess of thread.
