After a lengthy, and rather confusing, phonecall with Eileen, Lee crawled into bed, not having practiced anything he was supposed to.
"Char's gonna kill me... Sleepies though..." He settled down, and drifted off to sleep.
He woke up several times during the night, mainly for a drink. But when it hit 4 AM he just couldn't sleep anymore.
He groaned, Damnit, Three nights in a row... I need to see a doctor, maybe I can get some tablets...
(( Lee's modeled after me, so if anything seems odd, its because I have Aspergers syndrome. I'll probably make a thread in a but to see how many people know about it. ))

((Long is GOOD. >w< To be honest, I really didn't pick a location. sweatdrop It's just kind of "Anywheresville, USA". A town, significantly smaller than a city. Population of maybe 8000. Perhaps a larger town with more commodities in a short drive. I have no idea how it cross-references to San Francsico... I think that should be up to everybody else.))
"RrgifurgingIwantmyownbathroom," Jeremy grumbled at his sister, before shuffling to a nice hot shower that did indeed go cold after about a minute and a half. He cursed the water for a while, but it woke him up real good. Fifteen minutes later, he was dashing for the door with backpack in hand. "Alright see you later sis byyyyye!," he cried in passing, blowing out the front with enough time to cram one of Mel's pop-tarts down his face. He barely made it onto the bus. Ah, mornings.
----------
John was asleep, not having class until the afternoon on Tuesdays. Everyone had cleared out of his place (albiet begrudgingly), so he had at least some time to sleep. Summer really was starting to look better every day.

Griffin sat in Chemistry waiting for the bell to ring. His eeyes couldn't find their way off of Dru's desk in front of him. He didn't have any idea how he was going to look at her. Day after day he had stared at her back as the teacher, a rather dumpy looking woman by name of Fiona Trundell, droned on and on. He was always the first to arrive in the room, and the last to leave. It wasn't because he loved the class, it was because he loved the silence that encompassed the empty desks.
He readjusted his posture and leaned his head on his desk. It wasn't very comfortable, of course, but it gave him a darkness to look at instead of the surface of Dru's empty seat. The bell rang and he scratched his back. Today he had chosen a simple ensemble of a navy button-up shirt, long, dark blue jeans, and his usual shabby Vans. He listened as the silence gave way to the dull roar of students pouring through the halls. Among the hundreds of footsteps, somewhere, was Dru, making her way to the Chemistry room door. Griffin sighed and braced himself for the difficult two hours, both for the work and for Dru, he had ahead of him. The door opened, and his peers filtered into the room. Noise.

((US? I thought we were in Canada...))
Eileen sighed, staring at her clock mournfully. She was horrid on the phone. She needed to see the person's face, see their body language, their real reactions.
Phones suck, she thought to herself, a bitter smile upon her face. Amidst Lee's rambling and Eileen's stuttering, she could tell that this guy had a good heart. Well.
It couldn't hurt to maybe see this guy in person, she supposed. Maybe go, have a hot dog. She sure hoped that he had money, because she sure was broke. 'Course, this going out thing may not happen.
She decided that she'd wait for him to call her, and was horribly awaken by screeching downstairs. Same old, same old. The kitchen's a mess, you never help, I do everything, the baby's crying, why don't you get a job, I'm only staying with you for the children.
Same old, same old. Eileen had suggested that they sell their house for money, but they couldn't survive in a townhouse, heaven forbid!
Eileen sighed again, looked at the clock and hoped that Lee would call.

As Dru made her way into the Chemistry room she noticed Griffin. She looked at him for a moment, then blushed softly and sat down at her desk in front of his. She could feel his eyes on her and she shifted uncomfortably. She looked back at him and smiled softly. What am I doing?, her mind challenged her, why dont I forget him? Or just ask him out. The teacher began to drone on and on about things that Dru didnt care about right now. She opened her pen to a random blank page and quickly scrawled a note. The note read: Hey Griffin, How are you? Love from Dru. She quickly passed it back to him and turned back to face the front of the classroom.

Mel was running out the door with half a pop-tart hanging out of her mouth as she tried desperately to get her bookbag over her shoulder. She was sprinting for the bus stop.
Who ever heard of a college student who couldn't drive? Honestly... I mean I know there are those child prodigies who are like ten, but eighteen I'm for chrissakes!
She bolted around the corner just in time to see the bus pull away without her. After an unsuccessful attempt to flag it down to stop she sat down huffily on the bench. She was going to miss the first half hour of her art studio course; she couldn't even properly sneak into the tutorial part without getting noticed. It was such a small class. It was only for the incredibly serious artist or the incredibly lax slacker. God, she hated early classes! It wasn't worth the free time after noon.
She pulled out some of her other course work and waited for the next bus to come by in 20 minutes. It was nice out but the air was cool and she wished that she had grabbed a sweater. She tucked her feet up underneath her and nibbled on her breakfast while reading over her textbooks.

Griffin looked up as he heard the rustled of paper in front of him. Dru was hastily handing him a note. He unfolded it and read. Hey Griffin, How are you? Love from Dru. He paused before responding. Hmm... he thought. How am I? Are there even wrods for it? He picked up his pen and responded: I'm tired... not much sleep last night. It's good to see you though. You look beautiful...
His hand trembled over the last word. He refolded the note and passed it back. Stop stalling and ask her! The voice had returned. Don't be a wimp. He didn't want to be. He wanted to ask her out to her face. He wanted to ask at the right moment. And he wanted to seal it with a piss that would put yesterday's to shame.
He shook the thoughts from his head, for now, and slid the note over her shoulder.

Eileen rushed to school, debating slipping a phone into her pocket before she realized--He didn't have her number!
There's still *46, or something, she guessed. She didn't want to seem desperate for the sound of a sane voice, but she was unfortunately. She supposed she had to skip breakfast again because of her late start. Mentally scolding herself, she ran all the way to school, lugging her saxophone behind her.
She huffed and puffed, and blinked the sleep out of her eyes as she joined the rest of her band, each of them looking like zombies.

Dru unfolded the piece of paper she had given to Griffin. She read it quickly and silently. The word 'beautiful' stuck out from the page. She looked back at him and blushed slowly mouthing the word 'thanks'. She quickly scrawled another reply; It's good to see you too. She slipped the paper back onto his desk and she could feel herself blushing uncontrollably. Her mind kept telling her to forget him and move on or something.

(( We're in Tuesday now, Right? ))
As with most Tuesdays, Lee had frees untill the end of the day. So, as usual, he took his guitar in and hijacked an amp in the music rooms.
And, As usual, he got roped into teaching some of the kids from the school.
Why do I let myself go through this? He chuckled to himself, Ah well, They're not that bad, and they actually listen...
The class finished, and lee had time to think.
Maybe I should phone Eileen back... Through all the stuttering and rambling, we hardly had a decent conversation... Crap, Did I save her number?
He scrolled through the call history on his mobile and found a number which he assumed must be Eileen's
S'gotta be her, Its the only one that lasted for three hours in my list!
Just as he saved the number into his contact book, another class appeared.
Oh the joy...

Griffin stared at the returned message. That's it. Good. Now do it. Do it before you wimp out again like last time... Griffin nodded. For once the voices were right. Totally right. He took a deep breath, put his pen to the papare, and scribbled "Please. I can't stand this. Meet me in the courtyard during our lunch hour." He folded the note and slipped it back to her. For a while he stared at her hair. It, like the rest of her, was perfect in his mind. Every strand was gorgeous. Why? Because she had taken a liking to him. She had been sweet to him. Katherine had never treated him like an equal like this. It had always been about control to her. But that was all in the past. The instructor droned on about the chemical bonds of group 4 metalloids , and Griffin, satisfied with his decision, leand back against his chair and began to daydream about the girl sitting in front of him.

Dru read the note and turned back to Griffin. She nodded her head in agreement. She turned back to the front and started to think about why Griffin appealed to her so much. He was everything like Alex but in a sweet way, not a bad boy way. Alex had been interested in skateboarding and sports but he had loved Dru. He seemed to value her more than anything and Dru felt the same way. She would spend every spare moment thinking about him, but when Alex dissappeared it went down the drain. She had lost him just like that, but now Griffin had appeared in his place and she was thankful for it.
She sighed softly as she let the thoughts of her kiss with Griffin engross her. ((Hey, when is our lunch hour??))

((Well, you mentioned double chemistry... I'm not sure how the school system works in Australia, but the lunch hour is usually around noon, after two blocks of class time.))
Griffin stepped out of the stagnant air of the Chemistry room, rubbed the raw spot on his back from where he had sat for two hours, and proceeded down the packed hallway. Students jostled him this way and that, but he didn't care. His mind was already in the courtyard. Everything would go perfect.
He reached the lobby of the lunch room and turned left outside into the grassy courtyard. He chose a dark spot of shade under a fig tree and sat down. His heart pounded in his chest as he scanned every body that walked through the double doors. A slight breeze caressed his cheek and it reminded him strongly of Dru's hand as she had held him to her.
He sighed deeply and silently told the voices in his head to stop quarreling over the decision he had made. Everything would be... He drifted off into another daydream.

((I've got to go, but I'll be back soon.)) Dru walked through the double doors and spotted Griffin under a shady tree. She walked over to him nervously. I'm gonna stuff up again, her mind told her. She walked over and sat down beside him. Dru smiled softly at him but showed her excitement at the same time. "Hey Griffin,"She said softly to him.
((Yeah, in Australia we do that too.))

Griffin snapped instantly out of his daze as he felt eyes on him. He waited for his focus to clear and then felt his heart skip a beat as he recognized the gorgeous eyes that had taken their mark. He stood shakily to his feet and stared for a moment, taking all of her in. "I'm..." he started, but had to clear his throat. "I won't keep you long," he said as confidently as he could. "i think we both know how we feel for each other. I can't keep looking at you and wanting to have you. I can't wait for you to have some other guy sweep you off your feet." The words rushed from his mouth to her ears. For once he knew exactly what to say. Perfect. "So, I want to sweep you off your feet first. Dru... Would you care to go out with me?" Suddenly the words felt cold in his throat. They seemed to cliche, too plain, but he said them all the same. He swallowed hard as he awaited an answer. The silence was poisonous.
