FISHER

When nothing seemed to happen with the blue it was in her best nature to assume he'd Impressed. The voice he'd used to broadcast was gone and if that happened what else was she supposed to think? Good on whomever he was calling to, really, since the blue was indeed lovely. Not to mention his impression had been bloodless and calm and that was what they were supposed to be. This should make everyone happy, right?

Fisher was happy...ish.

Fahn

That handsome blue had found who was his - er..maybe. He seemed quite insistent on waiting where he was now, but for who? Fahn cast a glance over her shoulder to see if anybody had stirred to come running, but at that moment, it didn't seem to be the case. But someone would come.

Someone had to come. And Fahn waited to see who. Who would come for this blue, and if the other dragons would have someone come for them, or they would go for another. Her heart buoyed at the thought. Soon, all would be settled and well. Soon, perhaps, she would leave like all those others who were disheartened that theirs was not to be found here.

Nashwa - NPC Candidate
As ashamed as she was for her fellow candidates, and for her Weyr, Nashwa knew she had to pull herself up out of such negative thoughts. She took a deep breath, made herself stand up straight again, and fixed her attention back where it belonged, on the lovely hatchlings on the Sands before them. The handsome blue asked a very valid question, and made her feel guilty for her earlier thought, however fleeting, of being so shamed that she would remove herself from the Sands, if only it would help. If only anything at all would help.

But her own thoughts were apparently - fortunately! - not what he was questioning, as he soon set off in pursuit of someone who'd actually chosen to begin making their way off the Sands. Really?! And yet, it seemed that that girl was the one the blue wanted.

Well then. How lucky for them both she hadn't made it too far away.

Baby Mine White
The little white was absolutely horrified about everything that was going on. There were suddenly upset Candidates, and upset hatchlings, and upset adults... Were they taking too long to be borned? Were they the problem? The little white creeled, terribly upset by all the chaos that seemed to be going on!

The little white cuddled and tried to bury himself against Krahsujunth, grateful that his father had his wings spread out so protectively. Are we so bad? The little white asked, feeling a bit ashamed. He drooped against his father, eyes turning yellow-white. I...took a long time to hatch. I made them all wait. Maybe they shouldn't...have to wait. Maybe... We're not so important. Was it just him because he was a little white? Or was it all of his siblings who hatched later than the rest?

A small little creel. Perhaps he should hurry then, and not make them wait? And yet... What if he picked wrong? What if the one he wanted didn't want him back? What if... what if this was the only time he had to cuddle before they all went back to being duty bound? Was wanting just a few more moments such a crime?

Bright Red Bronze
The bronze, who had been rather quiet through all the drama, was still picking his way through the hatchings. The drama had been rather, well, dramatic and the bronze was unsure if he should bugle happily in delight over driving that bronze away, or keen for all the hurt hearts he was feeling. It was such a mix! So confusing! And yet... He also felt an emptiness within.

Picking his way throughout the Candidates, the bronze swished his tail and poked at every boy he passed. They all were so beautiful, so divine, so glorious, and yet... None of them were quite entirely right. Oh dear. This was such a difficult choice too!

Oh where, oh where was His? Perhaps he had left already? Perhaps he hadn't been Searched yet? Oh dear. The bronze continued to make his way. Hmmm. Someone out there had to be His. Or perhaps he would get whisked away by a foreigner in the Stands? Or maybe his very young life would be snatched by the cold of Between, crying out for His, only to be silenced. Ooooh. What a perfectly dramatic thought! .... perhaps a bit morbid though.

Neon Teal & Yellow Brown
The dragon continued to pick his way among the Candidates. That one was definitely not dragonrider material, nope. That one he could see on a brown, maybe an ambitious blue. That one was definitely meant for a different hatching. That one needed to grow up a bit, and maybe then they could tempt a green. The brown continued to nose at the Candidates, passing quiet judgment on each one as he passed.

And yet...
Wait.

What was that?

Hyseren
The man was left on the sands alone, watching as more dragons hatched and wound their way through the candidates. He tried to push the thoughts about his twin from his mind. Was she ok? Was her dragon? What would happen now, especially if he didn't Impress? After all, he had been a tag along, he hadn't been fully convinced this was the path for him. Would the Weyr let him stay or would they count him among those who had caused trouble and boot him back to Tillek? Would he be able to keep in touch with Haelwen anywau, if it did happen that way? Oh Faranth. Get a hold of yourself Hyseren. Haelwen would be find on her own... or, she wasn't really alone anymore was she? She had her white dragon to be beside her for the rest of their lives. Yes. She would be ok. Even without him. If that stung a bit he would never admit it.

Hyseren plastered a smile on his face as he looked at the dragons on the Sands, then at the remaining candidates. So many people left and so few dragons, the event was decidedly winding down. Still, his eyes found the blue dragonet again and watched him as he lay down. No one should leave before all of you have found yours unless they are forced out or so injured they can no longer stand, in which case they should be with the healers. Can you not sense yours here little one?

YU'STAR and BRONZE NEVIDENTH

Yu'star gave a soft shrug to Bekah's request. "I'd....pick my foot up except the knife has it pinned to the floor. It dropped pretty hard." He'd tried to lift it once, earlier, and when it hadn't given he left it there. Everything was within reach anyway so it hadn't been that big of a deal, and even now he was moving to try and keep feeding Nevidenth. None of this was an issue if he could keep going and get the hunger his dragonet was feeling satiated. The throbbing in his foot was secondary to everything else and he tossed another chunk of meat into his bronze's maw. "I'd like to do what you ask but unless you quickly pull it out I can't move it on my own without causing more damage."

Nevidenth narrowed his eyes as he shredded and swallowed. How do you even manage to keep so calm? All I feel between us is a faint pulse of annoyance and not any panic.

"Turns and turns of practice. No worries there." He smiled and brushed some hair behind his ear, streaking blood on his face as he went.

To hear the blue croon was like hearing distant thunder. But for those Krahsujunth called his own, it was a comforting sound. Not a storm coming to catch them, but a storm held far at bay, the comforts of home wrapping around them instead. Warm sands, good food, shelter from any storm. The blue wouldn't let any harm come to his precious children if he had a say in it.

Nonsense. He rumbled, authoritative but oh so kind. You are worth the wait, and more than any of them could ever dream of. Do not let them upset you. If it comes down to it...you will always have your mother and I. Krah would...actually have liked it if he could keep a baby or two, or all of them. He would deeply miss his precious ones as they went about their own lives, away from him... How had Fianth born this sweet pain, time after time? He sent her a loving, tender thought as well.

You are the sun and the moon and all the stars in the sky to your special person. There is no one more important to them than you are. Those unwilling to wait...are not worthy of you, my moonbeam. So you stay put as long as you like. And if they do think to leave...I will drag them back for you, and they will spend the rest of their days making it up to you for leaving you behind. I promise.

Kinyegele

"Hello," Kinye again greeted any baby dragon who drew close with a small wave of her fingers. There were an awfully large amount of candidates for them to pick from still. "Good luck," she bid, making sure to keep from getting too close if the baby didn't approach on their own. Even then, she should have been more cautious than she was, but she wanted to offer up goodness on their way.

Even if tomorrow none of them would care she was here and they'd be safely in the arms of theirs. That was all she wanted for them. An eternal wellspring of kindness would matter at the most important time - now.

Solameya | She/Her | HRW

Friends on the Other Side blue made the scene pretty quickly and Make A Man Out of You green arrived shortly after. The woman was quite pleased to see the green even checking in on those candidates over at the healer station. The Friends on the Other Side blue appeared to just sit and wait for something, perhaps someone? Hm.

Solameya arched her brows as the brown dragonet wove his way around the candidates, maybe making his decision or sussing out each candidate he passed along his way. Good luck to him. Her mouth tugged into a bit of a frown. Was the bronze having trouble?’ Don’t worry, kiddo. Yours his here somewhere.’

A little extra love went to the worrying Baby Mine. ’None of us are going anywhere. Enjoy all the dad time you need.’

Zyanzi

The little Baby Mine dragonet made his heart swell. A sad, sweet darling.... Being a loving sort, he found rather hard not to want to snuggle the hatchling as he watched it interact. Letting out a breath, he averted his eyes, in time to witness more Impressions. He smiled, still comfortable with the thought he might not Impress today. But doubtless, someday. For now, he could dream and enjoy watching the happiness overflowing as other candidates found Theirs.

Whren

It be alright baby, Whren soothed at baby mine, watching the little white as they tried to hide against their father. Poor little thing. Someone here would love them, unconditionally, you just had to be take a step out to find them. They would be waiting for you. But for now... Papa seemed to have it covered.

FISHER

The blue father loving on his child made Fisher more or less think of her own dads and a wave of longing overcame her. This was the longest she'd been away from all of them by her account and it was weird to find herself homesick. Coming here had been an exciting adventure completely pressed on her by those same dads and maybe when she got home she'd have a story to share?

"You're lucky there, lil' bit. Your dad will always be here wit'cha, and your mom and uncle too. Must be nice, havin' all this family. I think it's awesome you got it." There was no jealousy in her words since she wasn't supposed to have any right now. The dragonets needed only positive thoughts.

Her attention did move to the bronze and brown that were still moving, curious as to what was happening there.

Candidate Nalacko she/her

Another blue possibly impressed? Nala wasn’t sure when he laid down in the sands, but no candidate went to him. She watched as a bronze and brown worked their way through the candidates, still searching. Nala wished them luck finding theirs. She listened to Krah who could only be rumbling at the tiny white he protected.

Lelte

She had been hesitant to act. But then she heard it. The sad creel of the baby white who was being cradled so protectively in his blue dad's wings. The poor baby. No little one should ever have to feel like that... But the baby was so lucky to have a dad like Krah who would face down the world to see his little one's safe.

Precious baby, your dad is right. When you find your one, they will have been worth waiting for. And they will love you so so much.

orri

Orri also didn't want to separate; though he wouldn't want to admit it, he was a little bit frightened as to what this would all mean, moving forward. Would some of them get their candidacy rescinded? Would all of them? Would High Reaches decide it was time to shake the detritus off its ranked riders and find someone new? Shards, and Soui, he had forgotten about her in the midst of it all...

Calm down, he told himself. Stop being in your head. That was always his problem. Right now, they needed to help keep the peace in whatever way they could. (Would it matter? No, no, stop thinking like that--)

"Right." He nodded to Dehka and let go of his sleeve, moving that hand to steady his unbalanced glasses and plastering it over his left, bandaged ear. "Um. Meet back at the end?" He smiled something that hopefully looked confident and then pulled away. This wasn't going to get any worse, not with them on the job!

Then and there, Orri began his best impression of Herg'r: which was to say, had he been a dragon, he would have been radiating vigorous joy, even though he wasn't quite so loud or as excitable in movement as his dad. Now was the time to act as though everyone was a friend, and to not second-guess himself about bothering said would-be friends. Kinyegale's cooing was echoed by him as several more greens showed up. "They've all been stunning!" Orri said. "It's amazing seeing them all up close like this, with the sunrise hitting them just right."

Metzli's talk of cake reminded him of his empty stomach, but...no! Enthusiasm! "Can dragons even eat cake?" Orri asked, a somewhat hammy laugh accompanying it. Maybe that was a bit much. Too late. "This Feast is definitely going to be huge, though. Don't you all want to see?" he asked, turning to the remaining eggs and dragonets. "We're here for you, always! But the party won't start until you walk in. Everyone will be there, don't worry!"
