Although the pain was fairly severe the duo fought on, Flaming and flying as best they could. Due to the pain it was difficult for Lireloth to avoid Thread and ash as easily as he had before, and after Flaming a clump of Thread they were once again seared by the ash of what remained. They pressed on, though, fighting through the irritation and pain.

As they recovered from the pain Thella reached into her firestone satchel to find she was out of firestone. Thankfully they were flying low enough to flag down one of the older semi-retired riders to bring some up to her. She thanked the older man and green dragon who had brought them what they needed before tossing the fresh stone into Lireloth's mouth. They moved back into position as he chewed, ready to Flame whatever came their way.

Another small clump of Thread appeared, and Aveth and R'nar intercepted it, the big bronze's flame searing it from the sky. This was why they trained and practiced so hard -- to make fighting Thread look easy!

Refreshed and restocked, Thella and Lireloth were off on the hunt for Thread again. They Flamed as they returned to their spot and even managed to save a fellow wingmate from Thread that they had missed falling. Feeling confident heading into the last half hour, the pair were ready for anything that was going to come their way.
Looking sharply to their left at the same time, Thella and Lireloth realized a rather huge clump of Thread was heading their way again. It took a tricky bit of flying, but Lireloth managed to pull his wings tight to his body and roll, Flaming the clump out of the sky.

Roll: 18 - A sudden gust of wind kicks up, threatening to push your dragon out of formation. Thankfully, this gust doesn't have anything on your dragon! You easily fight through it, and find your dragon isn't really winded at all. "All right, Zeath, one more hour. Holding up all right?" M'aze asked, rubbing his partner's neck as they descended back to the lower attitude. Zeath gave a soft hum in reply as he tilted his wings slightly, letting them descend after the rousing speech by the wingleader.

Floating down, M'aze gazed up at the wings above them. He felt a bit badly that there were others that had to fight in the worst of it at the end and they got the 'easy' altitude for the end, but he knew everyone was more than capable of taking care of business. Next time, perhaps, they'd take the brunt of the fall. He was thankful they were in the rotation the way they were though as they'd had a pretty rough time of it. Wing cramps, pain and a bit of exhaustion here and there distracting them from fighting...it was hard. But there was only an hour left and he was sure they'd make it through.

Right before they belch forth their flame, they suddenly jerk hard to the right, almost in a roll, and quite unexpectedly. Sure enough, a gust of wind would have whipped the thread back in their face! Instead, the strand whips by, and your dragon is able to successfully flame it. A diving swoop for thread was aborted at just the right time. As the pair pulled up, considering a second run, a voice poked through. Nadry, and Menankith...A shame. His knowledge of the time it took to restrap a dragon, especially when you were nervous...The odds weren't in her favor. Yes, a shame indeed. Accidents were just that, but...
Rejoin us if you are able. If not, tend to your rider and yourself, and await our return after fall. The brown was succinct, but not unkind. They knew the score, he didn't need to rub it in.

Galxath needs firestone, my Dr'stan! Cynosuth called, and the pair readied themselves once again for a toss. The little Green flew toward the Blue, calling to him so that he knew she was on the way. However, a strong buffet of wind threw her about roughly, and sent her in the direct path of a tangle of thread. Creeling in pain and terror, Cynosuth jumped between, shakily recovering from the hit as they made the hand off.

Don't think so hard, mine, you'll hurt yourself, Zeath said as they flew on. The upper wings were doing a good job, keeping Thread from falling down. Now that it was the end the Thread would be tapering off anyway even as the winds continued to blow. M'aze gave a bark of laughter and rolled his eyes fondly at his partner as they continued to fly, ready to catch whatever fell.
