As they rotated altitudes again, both Takarath and V'kenti felt some renewed energy. One because they were closer to Uridith and Lestenna and secondly because they were also closer to the weyrlings. They knew they had to try extra hard again to ensure nothing slipped through them. In one such effort, Takarath increased his flame length and flamed three pieces of thread at once! It boosted their confidence once more and they continued on.

A strong updraft snagged Aviroth's wings, threatening to drive him up into more thread, but the bulk of the brown was his saving grace this time. He wallowed through the air a moment, but kept the course all the same.

V'mel swapped sacks of stone for probably the final time for this threadfall. Nadry's earlier delivery assured he had plenty, and it felt final somehow to make this last swap out.

Even though they flew a while without seeing any strands of Thread, some was bound to get through. They were a bit too lax and didn't see it until it was too late. They blinked Between just as the clump landed, searing Zeath's back a bit before it was killed in the bitter cold. It landed on an old would from earlier, though, and when they returned from Between it was clear Zeath was in a fair bit of pain.
After enduring the pain of biting his tongue and having to dodge and fly around despite the fact he was slowly starting to be worn down, Nusueth manage to get himself thrown out of position within their flight. He growled lightly as he struggled to get himself to focus on flying rather than his aching tongue and in a few moments he was able to get back into position. However, he was much more worse for wear. "I'll give you a good wing massage after this my sweet." Laasya promised. Nusueth quite liked that idea. After the strain placed on his wings he was no longer distracted by his aching tongue. Small miracles. "I'm ready to chew some more firestone." He called.

Too late did they spot the sliver of thread, and though they twisted away, Aviroth hissed as the stuff bit into his shoulder, scoring along the base of his neck before the brown managed to hop between to be rid of it.
V'kenti was beginning to feel the strain of the past couple of hours, thankfully, Takarath always had his back: literally. They hadn't noticed a piece of thread that was right above V'kenti until it was almost too late. Taka noticed just in time and was about to blink between when a gust of wind push it away from the bronze rider and the bronze dragon flamed it easily. We both need to pay closer attention mine.

A strong gust of wind kicked up just as Zeath struggled to stay in formation, sending them down and away to the west. The dragon groaned in pain as he struggled to stay aloft despite the pain and the wind, but the struggle definitely gassed him.
"It's all right, Zeath, take your time," M'aze aid, not wanting to push his dragon. Zeath lowered his head and let the wind do with him as it wanted, pushing him further away from the Wing until they were almost down to the Queen's wing. He waved off a few concerned dragons and riders as the wind died down, allowing Zeath to slowly work his way back up to the proper height.

Even in the endgame his weyrlings seemed to be doing quite well. That was worth being proud of. Not that it showed on his face or in his demeanor, but he'd noticed their efforts all the same.
No sooner than Laasya had given him some firestone that Nusueth had managed to bite his tongue again. The girl looked at her dragon with worry. He was making a lot of mistakes--particularly when it came to his poor tongue which caused his flying to suffer as a result. Hopefully they would be done soon. She didn't want to chance something happening to her lifemate. Biting her lip, Laasya attempted to massage his neck to help redirect his attention elsewhere. It didn't work.

Near the end now. The weyrleader's speech was probably meant to be stirring, but Peresa still had no real...attachment to this place, or anywhere or anyone. Venin, perhaps, but...well. They dove after a bit of thread, enjoying the hunt more than thoughts of safeguarded homes, only to have it twist in the wind and tangle against the tip of Shoggoth's wing. The pair screamed in irritation, snapping between to cast it off.
"Watch out!" Laasya gasped just moments before Nusueth dodged out of the way. While he didn't sustain any damage, he had been too distracted to jump Between.
