If you get the chance, Kals, it's terrific; it focuses on the seven endless, older than the gods; Dream, Death, Desire, Despair, Destruction, Delirium (who used to be delight), and Destiny. The ten volumes are pretty much stand-alone, but the whole 10 novels create one story arc, taken together. I wouldn't be surprised if the local library had them, if you were interested. (By the way, the first volume *is* a bit slow, but introduces everything. It really starts to hit its stride in the second GN.)
Neil Gaiman, who also wrote (or helped write) the screenplays for Stardust and Beowulf, was the writer for the series, and it has a liberal sprinkling of both horror and a wide pantheon of myth.
(By the way, Stardust was his baby, and he wrote the wonderful novel "Good Omens" with Terry Pratchett.)

Well, Jaft Classic has a tangy, zippy, wit, where as New Jaft (or Jaft II) was a lot quieter and more mod-like. smile

Ah, yes, but Jaft Classic, though he performed / performs his mod chores impeccably, he never *seemed* like a mod! wink As for turning Japanese... rolleyes ...I'm guessing you KNOW the subtext there... mrgreen
