The pain his bronze was in was clear. Even as the bronze tried to flame another patch of Thread, the bronze actually missed. S'del said nothing -- he didn't need his poor dragon to feel bad on top of struggling through his his ichor-stained body. Good job, Kindeth. You're doin' just fine, buddy. We'll get it next time.

TORNADO WING
V’kenti of bronze Takarath [Wingleader]

HP: 36/41
Status Effect: --
XP: [+4 Target Accuracy] | [+2 Instinct] | [+2 Flame Length] | [+1 Luck]
Target Accuracy: 7
Flame Length: 6
General Stamina: 7
General Agility: 6
Between Accuracy: 7
Pain Resilience: 7
Instinct: 7
Luck: 6

They were struggling to refocus but upon remembering what they needed to do through the pain, they centered their thoughts. Just in time. Another strand of thread was right on top of them! Takarath blinked between to a higher position so he could flame it safely and saved both himself and his rider.

Round 1 Day 1

[Roll 1/5]
    16. You appear from Between only to find yourself in the perfect spot to catch a sliver of Thread. You successfully flame it down easily. [+1 Target Accuracy]

[Roll 2/5]
    8. Your dragon dives for a strand of thread that has fallen through the upper wings. Right before they belch forth their flame, they suddenly jerk hard to the right, almost in a roll, and quite unexpectedly. Sure enough, a gust of wind would have whipped the thread back in their face! Instead, the strand whips by, and your dragon is able to successfully flame it. [+1 Instinct]

[Roll 3/5]
    6. A strong gust of wind suddenly pushes you off course and right into a sliver of Thread! If you're a bronze or brown, you or your dragon take a scathing hit, unable to get out of the way. [Minor Damage -3 HP] If you're a blue or green, you wind up twisting easily out of the way, flaming it down successfully! [+1 Stamina]

[Roll 4/5]
    1. Ouch! Feeding your dragon some firestone has resulted in them biting their tongue! This is going to distract your dragon for the next three rolls. Their flaming aim will go down, and they might be slower to dodge out of Thread's way. [Tongue Bitten Effect! Your dragon is distracted by pain. No XP will be earned for the next 3 rolls. Any successes will be nullified. Should you roll a prompt with the possibility of damage, take the max damage allotted for your size/color automatically but it will also end the Tongue Bitten Effect immediately.]

[Roll 5/5]
    16. You appear from Between only to find yourself in the perfect spot to catch a sliver of Thread. You successfully flame it down easily. [+1 Target Accuracy]

[Wingleader Roll 1]
14-16. If Wingleader you actually are on top of things today! You're here to look out for your wingmates and your seconds, and in this case, you manage to do both! Quote one your Wingseconds, or Wingrider and nullify any negative effects & negative HP from their most recent roll! This can include Wingleader/Wingsecond rolls! If Wingsecond you find yourself panicking. In a rough moment, you witness a catastrophe about to go down! Do you save one from Thread about to hit them, warn another they're flying directly into another's flame!? Who do you save!? Quote a Single Wingmate and have them lose -5 HP!

Round 1 Day 2
[Roll 1]
    13. Trying valiantly to catch some thread, your dragon flames a bit sooner than you would have preferred. Surprisingly enough, the flame is long, hot, and sustained longer than usual. Your dragon manages to flame the clump and return to their position in their wing. [+1 Flame Length]

[Roll 2]

[Roll 3]

[Roll 4]

[Roll 5]

[Wingleader Roll 2]
5-7. If a Wingleader, you were so focused on chewing out one of your wingriders who pulled a stupid move, that you actually miss catching a large clump of Thread that's falling right past you. A nearby wingmate winds up taking the hit -- as they were busy flaming a different clump of Thread and hadn't time to notice. Quote a Single Wingmate and have them lose -5 HP! If a Wingsecond you actually are on top of things today! You're here to look out for your wingmates and your Wingleader, and in this case, you manage to do both! Quote your Wingleader, fellow Wingsecond, or Wingrider and nullify any negative effects & negative HP from their most recent roll! This can include Wingleader/Wingsecond rolls!

Round 3 Day 2 Mid altitude

[Roll 1]

[Roll 2]
    19. Your dragon has a moment of true inspiration, and sends out encouragement to his or her wingmates. Encouragement Boon! Quote one of your wingmates and remove one status effect

[Roll 3]
    1. A larger clump of Thread falls down hard and fast. Thankfully, your dragon is on top of it, and manages to hit the target with a large belch of flame just as it passes. [+1 Target Accuracy]

[Roll 4]
As you're flying, the wind picks up again, trying to knock you out of formaiton! If less than 22 feet, you get blown out of formation, but are agile enough to avoid getting hit with Thread. Hurry now -- better make it back before your Wingleader scolds you! If 23' to 35', you're able to fight it, but wind up pulling a wing muscle. Whoops. Maybe you over-compensated. -4 HP If 36'-46', you're able to fight the wind with relative ease. Unfortunately, the nearby Threadfall gets blown into your side and haunches -- and you were too big to move out of the way. Ouch, does that not burn!? Moderate Damage -8 HP

[Roll 5]
    9. As you're fighting Thread, you see your nearby wingmate in danger. You immediately blink between, falling out of formation, but hoping to save them! Roll a D4. 4. You actually find yourself Betweening INTO the clump of Thread. Oh fardles! [Major Damage -10 HP] SAVED BY LIRELOTH

Round 4 Day 1 Low Altitude
[Roll 1]
    18. Your dragon spots a few clumps of thread being blown about in front of them. If white, green, or blue, they manage to catch a pocket of air and surge forward, flaming down two of the three clumps, before dropping hard and getting the third. No thread's slipping through on your watch! [+3 Target Accuracy!] If brown or bronze, they don't need as much speed, and instead belch a long flame, catching all three with ease. +1 Target Accuracy, +2 Flame Length!]

[Roll 2]
    10. Are you feeling lucky? Well you should! Free reply! Respond to this post with any action pertaining to Threadfall, and gain a little luck. [+1 Luck]

[Roll 3]
    5. A small clump of Thread has fallen through! You successfully flame it down. [+1 Target Accuracy]

[Roll 4]
    17. Your dragon is effortlessly flaming Thread. Honestly, they almost seem to make it look easy. Both you and your dragon start to feel more confident, and even start to get a bit cocky. Low Altitude Wing was always the easiest wing to fly. Unfortunately for you.... Roll a D4! Find a tangle of thread hitting you from behind! Quick, hop Between so it doesn't do more damage than it already has! [Moderate Damage -5 HP]

[Roll 5]
    20. Something doesn't feel right. You wind up glancing over your shoulder just in time to see a small, silver strand drifting dangerously close to your dragon. Thankfully, your dragon shares your thoughts, and is able to blink Between and higher above their position, missing the strand, and saving yourself from a score. [+1 Instinct]

Nadry of Brown Menankith
HP: 21/22

Menankith relayed Aviroth's words as he received them, and Nadry's heart sank even lower. Rejoin them if they could, but otherwise...await their return. That wasn't ominous at all. It was no comfort that C'ryn and Aresoth's straps had also broken; the bronze pair surely had leeway that they did not, a whisper of suspicion that settled bitterly in the brown's hearts. And as if it hadn't hurt his pride enough to confess to Fenrith and Aviroth that they had to return to the Weyr and why, he could not simply disappear without a word to his siblings, like a canine running away with its tail between its legs.

As he emerged from between to drift down towards his ledge, he felt Fenrith again, and was able to take a little heart from his words. We wanted to finish this, he gave voice to his and Nadry's sorrows. With our siblings. With our friends. With you.

Once he'd landed, Nadry scrambled to dismount, to pull off the stupid sharding straps. She knew there wasn't enough time to get these off him and the new ones on, but she couldn't not try...and couldn't not cry as she fumbled with them.

Menankith creeled sadly, offering her his support and Fenrith's words, but now that the tears had started, they'd not be done anytime soon. The brown took a deep breath and reached out for Macuith, trying to sound more chipper than he felt with only partial success at best, I'm afraid you'll have to do without me for awhile, brother! He almost included an assurance that he would be back, but he, like Nadry, knew how slim the chances were.

And then, Do not worry your hearts about me any more today, Cynosuth. I am safe.

This once, he wished he were not.

Macuith had noticed Menankith disappear, but had expected the brown to return. Threadfall kept the blue on his toes, so he hardly had a chance to wonder at his prolongued disappearance until the voice of his sibling cut through.

Wait . . . He was gone-gone? Back to the Weyr? The surprise caught the blue off guard, and he spit his flame a bit too far back. Amazingly enough, in quite the display, the blue burned the entire thing! He would have crowed proudly at such a display of prowess, but right now, his eyes turned a bit more grey in disappointment and sadness. Still, he couldn't be down for long, and was determined to send Menankith nothing but love and fondness and support. You're going to miss quite the show! Now who will admire my many tricks, hmm? Well, I will simply fight twice as hard, and give you credit for half of it! Your loss will be missed, but I will be the first to seek you out when we return. You've fought far longer than I could have, and I'm sure have some sexy scars to show for it. We'll have all the gossip about how this wraps up, later...but know that we're very glad you're now safe.

Cynosuth creeled an apology to Menankith, her hearts sinking as she heard his words. My brother, I wish more than anything for you to be safe, but also for your happiness. I am sorry if I have caused you hurt. Guilt riddled the little Green, and she flew with leaden hearts that did not seem to want to stir. Please forgive me for wishing you safe. You fought for longer than nearly all of our siblings, she pointed out, hoping that he might be cheered by such a thought.

You are with me, my sweet boy, Fenrith told Menankith. Fighting for you will keep my flame hot, and my wings strong. I had never thought to be a father, but you have given that to me. My pride, and my dear young friend. Even if Fenrith was a father in name only. Please tell your Nadry that she has done a fine job. And do not feel sorrow. We will have other times to fight together, my brave son!

You all right?

Certainly. That wing membrane was soooo last Turn anyway.

Macuith, you weren't alive this time last Turn.

The blue gave a snort but didn't deign to reply.

As if to make up for his sore wingsail, the dragon jumped Between to catch another clump of Thread higher up. Unfortunately, the wind changed, and the airspace was clogged up with Thread. Though he wished Menankith could see, he made an impressive display keeping himself well out of harm's way. The thread turned to harmless ash, and the pair continued the fight.

Onward they continued to fight. Ash sprinkled down on him, but there were living Threads within the ash. The blue gave a little squeal before jumping to the safety of Between.

C'lusi winced when they returned. There were some surprises fighting Thread. It wasn't all ropes and clumps and patches. The little wrigglers did just as much damage!

As Macuith turned to catch an errant strand of Thread, C'lusi found himself getting slammed hard to the side. He glanced down, staring at the tops of trees far, far, below. The only thing keeping him alive from certain death was the leather straps he'd made....

And two of his weyrlings had had theirs snap. Hoooo boy.

Well, his seemed all right, thankfully, and with a triumphant roar, Macuith righted himself -- and in his turn, his rider. A little flashy for Threadfall, but C'lusi wasn't sure his blue would ever fly without pizzazz even in the midst of Fall.
