EienKage Cold Lazarus And for all this talk about God and religion and stuff. I don't really believe in anything. Mainly because I just look at all the bad stuff that has happened because of it. I mean think about all the wars that would never have happened if religion didn't exist? But having said that, I also recognise the fact that in times of diaster, tragerdy and everyday it also gives people comfort and happiness. ( I also don't like the idea of possibly going to Hell to burn for eternity. That's kind of slack if you ask me) I also have a kind of scientific mind set. I don't think it is possible for the entity God to exist. I definately believe in some higher power which control the universe, I like to call them the Powers that Be. I think of God more as a force, like motion, or wind etc. I do though under stand that in this universe of infinite possiblities God may very well exist. But I think there would be a scientific way of proving it, much like with magic and phychic energies. Well thats my rant xd In short: arrow I don't believe in God, just The Powers That Be arrow Religion has contributed to great wars and suffering, but also to helping people and rebuilding lives. Ahh, science and religion. Totally not a subject I have the willpower to tackle tonight. xd I need to read up more on the subject before I dive in with any assuredness into it anyway. Well, I discovered the real truth tonight. There is no heaven, or hell - when we die we simply go to 4chan. ...yeah, I'm tipsy. Unable to get truly drunk but I'm probably confusing people with my longer posts.

La Belle Isolde God helps those who help themselves though, and I believe that if people think that anyone, even the pope is committing something they believe to be wrong (such as editing the sacred text of the bible - you can find blatantly missing passages that go from verse 1 to 3 and the like - I have seen those passages with my own eyes and past popes have admitted to editing the text that has a warning at the beginning that you should not tamper with the words within) then you can take strength from the Holy Spirit and stand up for the injustice. It is the passive nature people take, assuming that God does all the work. It's the man in the flood story: Quote: There is a story told about a man who was stranded in his housed during a flood. A boat came to rescued him awhile he was standing on his doorstep, surrounded by water. But he waived the rescuer off, saying ‘God will rescue me!” The following day the water rose and another boat came to rescue the man now stuck on the upstairs balcony. He again refused help, shouting, ‘God will rescue me!’ Late the next day, he found himself sitting on the chimney, the waters swirling around him. A helicopter hovered overhead, an man shouting, ‘ Lets help you!’ But the man shouted back, ‘God will rescue me!’ As fate would have it, the water rose and the man drowned. He arrived in heaven in a not-so-good mood, complaining to Saint Peter, ‘ I expected you to rescue me!’ ‘Frankly, I am surprised to see you here,’ Peter replied, ‘because we sent two boats and a helicopter to pick you up!’ Both God and Satan have to work through people, so let the Holy Spirit work through you if you see things happening, don't just assume God will make it right. An inconsistency is also, I was taught in school that it was alright (officially) to be a homosexual if you didn't act on those urges. Pope Benedict has (last I checked) gone back on the policy that gay men can be priests based on archaic logic and assumptions, going against everything that I have been taught even in school. If one does not have sex and takes a vow of celibacy, orientation should not matter as the priest is married to God. I was incredibly fed up by the time I left the church, to me the election of pope Ratz was a sign that the church really didn't know it was doing. Because that man has some horrible inconsistencies that I cannot stand. Ah, I've heard that one. But that is pride at work, saying, "I'm so special that God himself will descend from Heaven and save me with his own hand!". Which is of course a lot of bull. But if God does not prompt you to take action in something, does it not follow that he does not wish you to take action? Let the Cardinals and Bishops worry over matters of the Church. I have, quite frankly, more important things to do with my life. God has appointed men to run the Church. Let them run it. God is not short of ways to do things. As for Pope Benedict XVI changing the laws of the Church that homosexual men cannot be priests, it could be in direct response to the molestations that took place in the Santa Rosa Diocese; using old teachings to justify the right to do so. I cannot speak on the matter, being uneducated as to the reason. But if it is not the will of God, He'll change it. He has men (and women!) in the Church who might very well seek to reform it if it has done wrong. I am not one of them. When God stirs my heart to seek reform, I'll seek it. He hasn't. I don't. There are better technicians to fix the Church if it's broken, or to increase it if it's well. I'm not one of them. When Saint Dominic sought to have the rosary instated, there was a Bishop (I believe that was his ranking within the Church) who opposed it. And opposed it. And opposed it. He didn't stop opposing it. He died shortly thereafter. The rosary is now one of the defining features of the Catholic Church. God gets things done. That's just a pretty extreme example. Quote: Well, I discovered the real truth tonight. There is no heaven, or hell - when we die we simply go to 4chan. ...yeah, I'm tipsy. Unable to get truly drunk but I'm probably confusing people with my longer posts. Wait, I thought you just said you didn't believe in Hell. xd

But I don't believe in heaven, hell or 4chan. I believe in reincarnation of sorts at the most but largely in nothing as far as continued consciousness goes and whatnot. I'm an agnostic smile Most importantly, we are here now. This is what we know for fact. I choose to put my faith in that I've made my choice to live my life the way that feels right. It does not make me morally bankrupt, because if all we have is here and now like I believe we probably do, why waste that?

Well since our conciousness is made of energy in the brain, and we know from science energy can't be destroyed or created, only converted. I think when we die our coniousness, (or soul) converts into something else. I think the most likely thing is that its absorbed into like the world or something, like a big soul. Kind of likei n evangelion how they wanted to combine all humans into one. Except for souls if you understand. sweatdrop I know that last paragraph was kinda jumbled. But its 2am so stfu

Well isn't the is a kick in the pants... Phunkeh is having philosophical discussions. I also believe in The Powers That Be. I can't confirm or deny the existence of God, or Gods, but I know there is a power that drives our lives into the future. I also believe that our life energies are effected during our lives and change depending on how we live.
I believe that if you live your life with joy and compassion in your heart you'll be rewarded in whatever lies beyond this existence. Be that Heaven, Valhalla, Nirvana, or simply the Void that some people believe is after you die.
Personally I like the thought of Nirvana, where the Karma, you gather in life, be it good or bad, effects you when you die, if you have lots of "Bad" Karma, you get demoted, into something like a worm or small bird, but if you have good Karma you can eventually become one with the universe/God/The Powers That Be/the World Ect.
But it's just a thought. I don't hold out my Hope of Hopes, I just live my life as I would bringing what little happiness I can to people around me.
The Bible is also just a book, I've not read it personally, but the things written in it are just beliefs they are not rules, they are not absolutes, they are just guidelines. If you choose to follow them good for you. If you choose NOT to follow them good for you. It's just the way you want to live your life that matters.
In my humble Opinion.
