Coast while you can and get some rest, Vishnuth! The wind is tiring!
The higher altitude wings were doing an excellent job, from the looks of it. Only small clumps of Thread were getting through, which were easily flamed by Vishnuth and the others. It was a welcome break from the stress of flying through Thread.

The pair was ready for this, they were born ready for this, although Amroth was making sure D'cimus was aware that everything was still great. There was a silver lining after all. If they did manage to fall this day, they would go out a hero instead of a nobody. The large man chuckled at this as they flew into the midst of the battle.
Flying high altitude was always something that was hard to do, especially on days when the weather seemed to fight them at every turn. D'cimus grit his teeth, grinding them as they flew. Amroth, right in front of us. The blue turned his head to see the large clump of thread heading towards them. It was easy enough for the blue to open his mouth and belch out fire, destroying the silver strands to dust.

There was nothing that Harbinger Wing could not face. No wing, surely, had been drilled with the zeal and fervor of Z'tir's wing. In all of his Turns as Wingleader, he had never truly failed them - or so he might claim. The Bronzerider lifted his fist in a gesture of defiance against the silver menace that dared to face Pern's finest! Harbinger Wing, stay sharp. You know your drills. We are going to see this evil turned to crackdust!
A smirk crossed the rider's lips at the sound of his dragon's voice. Oh yes, they were more than ready for this. The pair flew in their formation, flaming thread out of the sky, and serving as an example to those who might be watching. Below, the weyrlings sought to emulate their elders- there could be no better role models, no doubt.

Aly'on shifted looking 'Ihiannsith to the left,' he sent seeing a clump of thread falling near by. He leaned close as the brown turned, and flamed the clump to ash. 'Good job.'
Ihiannsith replied, voice teasing as he righted himself back into formation till such a other opportunity came his way.

With his brother saved, Kinitarth turned his attention back to the threat. The wind, however, had other ideas. It kicked up, jumping under his wingsails and sending Kinitarth spinning out of placement. Sam’kel braced himself, tucking himself against his dragon’s neck as Kinitarth barked in surprise--only to near shriek as the kicked up wind nearly blows thread into his face.
Yet Kinitarth beats his wings hard, curling his body around to not only duck out of the wild thread’s path but gain mastery of his balance once more. See? Nothing to worry about.
Tell that to my stomach.

A cloud of ash billowed before them, consuming a clump of Thread that sailed through the upper wings. Another dragon went to flame it and succeeded in killing the Thread, but Vishnuth and Anandi both flew straight into the cloud. Stinging, burning eyes wept gray tears and Vishnuth coughed terribly.
Ahh--! It burns!
The dragon coughed and hacked, his skin and eyes singed from the cloud. The burn would sting in the high winds.

S'del was absolutely on cloud nine. Even as they flew up to meet the silver menace, he couldn't help but smile beneath his riding gear. If ever he felt like he was invincible, today would be it! Kindeth roared a challenge at the oncoming Thread, bolstered by his rider's sudden fearlessness.
Maybe he was just a fool, but even Thread couldn't bring him down. Not today. Not yet. It was going to be a bad day, a rough day, but S'del had even more of a purpose to fight the silver menace. He was up as high as a fighting wing dared to fly, and the Thread was thick and heavy. Every menace they charred and turned to ash was less for his wingmates to have to deal with, less for Pern to have to worry about... Less for A'ye to have to fight.
So it was, Kindeth belched forth a great flame, and successfully cleared the air before them.

Once his straps were fixed C'ryn went back to focusing on the fight. Aresoth flew into it easily, while yes they were flying at low altitude and not really in the thick of things, this was still something. They were meant to do this, they were made for this.
He didn't know if it was the adrenaline or not, but even as C'ryn was going to ask Aresoth if he should slow down, he felt the wave of energy from his bronze. He wasn't even faltering at all, even with him making movements that were normally tiring for the large bronze to do.

They stop you from falling of your dragon, and you're grateful that V'mel had you spend all that time making them! Watch for the wind, coming fast from the east!
Concentration was key, and Anandi could hear her heart pounding in her throat as great dragon wings beat in a steady rhythm. A sudden gust blew clumps of Thread down into the middle of the Wing, though Vishnuth saw it with plenty of time to spare, tilting neatly to avoid being scored and flaming the clump with ease.

Anandi patted him on the shoulder, comforting the dragon as best she could. I'll be sure you're royally pampered when we land!

Now that Lireloth seemed to have his energy back. Thella settled down into her saddle and began to get to work. They honed in on a clump of Thread that had been missed by the upper levels and just as they were about to flame, the wind changed and sent it directly back at them. Before they could jump Between or even wing out of the way it wrapped itself around Lireloth's neck, burning into his flesh quickly. He let out a bellow of pain and it took all she had for Thella to take control and absorb the pain a bit to help him focus.
Finally they jumped Between, a few long seconds of freezing cold killing the Thread, but when they returned it was clear there was damage. Lireloth snarled in frustration at the pain but flew on, ignoring the bleeding wound for the time being. and when they emerged back onto the battlefield it was a miracle that no lasting marks had been made.

Once Gareth sent a wave of apology towards Dormith the pair made sure they focused more on the fight and not reprimanding their Wing. That could be done after Threadfall, if their antics didn't mange to get them killed. As such they had to fight hard within the High Altitude, it was always dangerous up here and yet it was worse today because of the weather.
Gareth did his best to stay in his spot in formation, his wings straining as the wind fought to upend him. A'dras felt the muscle ache and sent all of his resolve to his dragon, resulting in the pair staying right where they should.

[1]5-7. If a Wingleader, you were so focused on chewing out one of your wingriders who pulled a stupid move, that you actually miss catching a large clump of Thread that's falling right past you. A nearby wingmate winds up taking the hit -- as they were busy flaming a different clump of Thread and hadn't time to notice. Quote a Single Wingmate and have them lose -5 HP! [2]

They worked through one pass and circled to start the next. Hinburath was flaming well and Ly'bur didn't think he was going through the firestone too fast. As they came back in again, a clump of Thread was falling ahead of them. Ly'bur felt the brown breath in. A couple moments before he would have, Hinburath released his flame. For a moment, he thought they had missed. But the flame was long, hot, and well controlled. It caught the thread and burned it to ashes.
As the dragon returned to his position in the wing, Ly'bur gave him a proud slap on the withers. Well done one that one.We're not done yet. The dragon returned, but he sounded pleased nonetheless.
Round 1: Day 1 Rolls
1. 9- Your dragon notices a sudden writhing stream of silver thread out of the corner of his or her eye. If a white, green, or blue, with surprising grace, they turn on a wingtip and manage to flame it to ash. You successfully flame it down. [+2 Target Accuracy] If a brown or bronze, you find yourself unable to dodge, and take a hit! [Minor Damage if Bronze - 1 HP // Moderate Damage if Brown - 3 HP] 2. 20- Something doesn't feel right. You wind up glancing over your shoulder just in time to see a small, silver strand drifting dangerously close to your dragon. Thankfully, your dragon shares your thoughts, and is able to blink Between and higher above their position, missing the strand, and saving yourself from a score. [+1 Instinct] 3. 13- Trying valiantly to catch some thread, your dragon flames a bit sooner than you would have preferred. Surprisingly enough, the flame is long, hot, and sustained longer than usual. Your dragon manages to flame the clump and return to their position in their wing. [+1 Flame Length] 4. 5.

Running high from a good streak, Sam’kel grins and sits back. But something catches his eye, something beneath both of them. A thermal had caught a clump of thread, and was sending it rocketing towards them. ”Kini! Beneath us!”
There’s just enough time for Kinitarth to catch a mouthful of stone as they disappear, reappearing behind the offending clump that threatened his belly. The fire is fierce, searing it to light grey ash that fell harmlessly.
