Another blasted gust of wind and this time Aresoth wasn't as ready for it. Struggling to keep himself in position didn't help and it caused him to collide right with a bit of Thread.

Wings tucked tight Aresoth dove down after a strand of Thread and then suddenly the bronze jerked. C'ryn was very glad he had checked the straps so much as he was sure he would have been thrown if he hadn't. Coming out of the roll Aresoth belched flame at the strand that would have landed right on his face.

Another unexpected gust of wind but this time Aresoth wasn't able to get out of the way. The pain seared through the bronzerider pair's link as the silver tendrils wrapped around Aresoth's neck and C'ryn left leg. Aresoth blinked between and then back into view as C'ryn quickly tried to assess everything that had happened.
How are we doing? Do you need to see a healer?
I am fine and can push on a bit more. The words were confident, even if they had sounded a bit strained, but C'ryn knew his bronze. For now he would listen and not have them go back..yet.

C'ryn was certainly glad for the eye protection as ash was blown back into the pairs faces. Aresoth hissed but was determined to continue on.

Retired NPC J'tugo and blue Losalmuth Firestone Run for Lilah and Bayeth!
Into the fray! J'tugo and Losalmuth both were eagerly waiting to be called upon, as at their age it was simply beyond them to fight Thread - their hearts were more than willing, but their bones less so. What they could do, however, was firestone runs, which they did with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately, Threadfall being what it was, that wasn't always an easy task, and so it was when they rose up to deliver stone to another blue and his rider. There was a lot of Thread up here!
While they were far from deterred, between the wind and the Thread, it was difficult to get into position and stay there. Shaffit! Finally, J'tugo just had to take the best shot he was going to get and lob it at the pair regardless. Sadly, the throw came up a bit short, but the blue was just quick enough to dive after it, and though his rider had to scramble, they did get the stone! Phew. That would be one less bag hurtling down towards the Queens' Wing.
On the downside, the three-legged blue to whom they were delivering the stone took a hit to the wing from Thread. Ah...whoops.
Terribly sorry, friend! Losalmuth called out, before retreating to relative safety.

Well, they got their firestone, even if it didn't quite go as planned. In spite of the resulting injury, Bayeth sent the older blue a wave of gratitude even as he hopped Between to get rid of the Thread, then it was back to business. As luck would have, the moment he set to chewing the fresh firestone, Bayeth bit his tongue.

...oh. Well then. The firestone delivery had, evidently, been the beginning of a run of bad luck. When they popped Between again to get to a clump of Thread more quickly, they reappeared right in a sheet of Thread.

Though Bayeth was hurting, they continued to push on, deciding to hang in just a bit longer before they returned to the Weyr for any tending they might need. And it was just as well, as Lilah soon spotted a wingmate in trouble, and Bayeth swooped in to flame the Thread that threatened them.

Feeling a bit better in spite of the ache and his ichor-stained hide, Bayeth was in decent enough spirits as the end of their time here at low altitude drew closer and closer. Of course, that meant they'd be switching up to high altitude, and the thoguht of that was more than enough to dampen his spirits all over again.

C;mric had handed over many handfuls of firestone and Orthoth had always crunched them down without issue. He was built for the task, after all, and did, not-so-secretly, enjoy belching plumes of flame, the more impressive the better.
It had been a rough start to Fall, though, and the bronze was distracted by all that was going on around him. It was not entirely carelessness on his part, then, when he bit down on what should have been firestone and was, instead, the flesh of his tongue. Roaring with pain immediately, the firestone chunk dropped from his mouth unchewed, and his tail lashed side to side, making staying seated on his back something of a challenge for C'mric.

Still rumbling and grumbling about the pain in his mouth, Orthoth noticed another bit of Thread tumbling toward him too late to avoid it. It struck him and burned, and quite successfully reminded him that what was important was the enemy falling all around him, not a simple accident he'd be sure not to make again.

Rejoining their wing up in the high altitude, Y’qua and Heimdath both had to try and steel their nerves; leaning against each other for emotional support. They had risen to fight thread time and again, and had done so for over two turns. They were trained, they could do this.
But as Heimdath moved to sear down a clump, she barks in alarm as the wind pushed her too far. It tangled around her leg, biting in even as Y’qua urged her between, popping in and out to safely remove the thread. Ouch..
