Marty and Anakumath were feeling alert after delivering another falling dragon back to the Healers, though it still left an uncomfortable feeling in both of their stomachs. Hopefully as it got darker it would still be as easy to see them.
As though to remind them that they were sharp, however, Marty spotted a clump of thread far too close to one of their Wingmates.

And even more than the spot on their Wingmate, Marty spotted a stray strand of Thread far too close to her and Ana and twisted to flame it down. All Thread stops here! Marty declared boldly, feeling Ana bubbling with agreement.
You dive for a clump of Thread, and successfully find yourself turning it into harmless ash. +1 Target Accuracy
Another clump of Thread, fallen to Marty's flamethrower. It made her feel good to be catching it all. Less work for those below, Anakumath agreed. The ground crew would do better not having to search so hard in the dark, she hoped.

At least there was a momentary lull in the action. Niobet watched a while, paying attention both to the sky above and the dragon beneath her, a hand pressed against golden hide in an attempt to help soothe her.
A whole lot of nothin'.... Kind of boring down here, isn't it? No, no, don't let yourself get distracted by daydreams, or thoughts of a certain someone. Hmm. A certain someone in wherhide pants. I mean, what?... bah!
And there Marty was...briefly thinking about wherhide pants on a certain brownrider. Man, that had really been an invasive thought this Fall, hadn't it?

And then movement caught Niobet's attention and she twisted to flame another piece of Thread into ash.

Marty had been so certain she was going to be a Bluerider at one point in her life - maybe it was just her projecting that a blue picking her would have made up for the void of a blue leaving her behind....
so there was a part of her that felt like it belonged higher up above with the rest of them. But she was grateful that her Anakumath, who was very much not a blue, was safer down here below.

When this was over, Niobet thought as he checked the flamethrower to make certain it wouldn't jam again when she needed it next, she was going to spend her next rest day doing nothing important at all. No reports, no maintenance. She was just going to enjoy a day off for the day itself.
Quietly, in the back of her mind, Aedeth snorted in disbelief.
