Oranie

Oh! She held her breath despite herself, and if she clutched at Lusialu's arm, well, thankfully it was due to excitement this time! Teal and Blue Spiral and Green Vine were admired with wide, bright eyes, and there was no hiding her smile as her robe was gently tugged at with a wing. "We're so glad to meet you. You're just wonderful." And that included Worried Bear green, too! The frank words were reassuring, and Oranie felt that... well, even if today wasn't the day where she found herself with a dragon, the future seemed that much brighter due to this experience.

"Thank you very much." She said quietly, feeling rather touched. Green Vine's excitement was enough to make her laugh with delight, for it was very nearly infectious! Hopefully no one got bumped into...

Teal and Blue Spiral Green bumped her head immediately into any open hands - that weren't being taken up by Green Vine Green, trilling with delight for the attention and seeming none too bothered that there was enough love to be shared with her sister too. Yes, they could all be the center of attention together!

And the more was the merrier, prancing in place as Worried Bear made her way over to their little throng. Why rush the future? Mine will love me no matter when I arrive, surely? There are memories to be made!

She bodily leaned into Green Vine Green as she pranced and showed herself off, bumping her head back against her sister's before moving to bunt against Worried Bear as well. As for hers.....

The Chocolate Chip Brown had no interest in family reassurances or bonding with his siblings for the time being. He stalked through the gathered crowd, occasionally pausing as though debating whether or not to take a closer look. Indeed, he finally drew himself up in front of Kedriom and Jhiroquel, his eyes whirling steadily orange. Hm. He leaned in, nostrils flaring as he studied each of their faces. There was something that caught his attention.... but was it what he was looking for?

Zelaya - They/Them/She/Her

So much was going on now, it was honestly hard to keep track of. Mictecath had aided a little white in hatching, and Iweth was crooning over a rather shy bronze as well as the brown that had come from one of their favorite eggs. There was a trio of greens who seemed astoundingly friendly, and a trio of blues as well who were likewise sticking together. The other brown, the larger one, was inspecting a few candidates, and that one they were inclined to keep an eye on, just in case... He didn't seem the type one wanted to get in the way of, though they were all due ample respect of course. He'd had a rough time at the touching at the hatching, thanks to the one blue, so hopefully he'd find his rider soon, and it'd all be well for him.

The gold meanwhile had impressed first—a double rarity, given her chosen one had been in the stands! How unusual... though they couldn't help but applaud the new pair. The dragons always knew best, whomever her chosen was, she'd likely make a great contribution to the Weyr. It really went to show that sometimes you just had to be in the right place at the right time. Maybe, if they were lucky too, this time would be that right place and right time for them too. Maybe one of the many, many hatchlings roaming the sands was meant for them...

Jhiroquel

Hectic might have been a bit of an understatement, but was it unexpected? Not really. There had certainly been more chaos at other Hatchings, and really...

"It's a lot of babies breaking out of shells and being able to really move, for the first time," he answered, attention sliding to Kedriom. "We ought to be surprised it's not more hectic, probably. After all, there's a cavern full of odd two-legged things staring at all of them. Feeling at them." His slight smile returned,. "We ought to be glad it's not more hectic."

As for Tyara, a glance over his shoulder to see her coming back prompted a nod. "She'll be fine. The healers know what they're doing. Scars'll probably be hard to see in a few sevendays. She got lucky." For some value of lucky.

When he looked forward again, there was a brown marching their way. A determined, irritated brown. Jhiroquel cleared his throat, muttered, "Kedriom," under his breath to get the other's attention, then drew himself up straight to wait out the sniffing.

No hand offered. no attempt to touch. Just a respectful nod and a quiet, "Hello, friend."

Tex She/Her

Seeing that White Tiger was a blue, Tex couldn't help but feel her heart pound a bit faster in her chest. There was still a chance for her then, if he had come out bronze then she knew her heart would have been so disappointed. But seeing how bold he was, how he cared for his siblings reminded her so much of her own siblings as well.

"He is, and Green Vine looks so sweet over there with her siblings and she seems to happy." It was hard to try and keep her attention on all of the different dragonets on the sands now, especially as her eyes kept flicking back over to a certain blue and watching him. "I understand that, you can get the same feeling from working with a runner from foal to adult. Watching as they grow and trust you. I wonder if it is the same as when a dragonet impresses you...I hope one of us gets to find that out."

Dextelia She/Her

Bubbling with happiness and excitement, Dextelia was having such a hard time trying to focus on everything that was currently happening. A baby white was curled up in one of his mothers talons, enjoying a special moment with her. The blue from earlier seemed so much happier now that he was joined by other blue brothers and the little Queen had impressed to someone in the stands.

She kept her thoughts welcoming and loving to all of the babies, sending extra love to any of those dragonets who seemed a bit upset.

Izaryel
The young man gave his sister's hand a small squeeze, before leading her a bit closer to the thick of things. He kept them far enough back that they weren't in anyone's way, but positioned them so they could at least see some of what was happening. "Only what... one egg left? Two, maybe?" He couldn't quite see, but there were more dragonets on the Sands than there had been earlier.

He kept an anxious eye on the trio of blues, just to have some sort of idea on where they were headed and to, maybe, keep a good distance between them. His thoughts weren't negative, but he was (rightfully) a little intimidated by them. But there were other dragons to look upon, such as the gaggle of greens, and even a couple of browns! He alo absolutely didn't dare think about the bronzes, at least, he tried not to.

If he did look upon Iweth and Cloudy Skies Blue with some concern, it was difficult not to. But at least they had family, and a father. What he wouldn't give---Nope. Not thinking that, either. Happiness. Joy. Love. Welcome.

"I'm glad we're all here together," he spoke, mostly to his sister, but he kept it open for the dragonets too. Even the blues.

Dea and #Teddy#

Lusialu
Oh, and another green had come to join them! Again, Lusialu couldn't help but marvel over them and how close they remained. While she didn't see any rainbow eyes yet, that was okay. The fact they were taking so much time to stay with them, to linger, was a blessing all the same. "I know you will make some Candidates very happy," she complimented, trying not to sound overly wistful. They were so beautiful though, and to have them so close by made it difficult not to yearn, even a little bit.

"I know good things will come, as they will for you three!" She replied in turn, still holding close to Oranie. A good moment shared.

The antics of both Green Vine and Teal and Blue Spiral did leave her beaming. Such dolls, all of them. Whoever they matched with would be lucky, indeed.

Razanel
The young man listen to Nisadee happily, even though his eyes remained on the dragonets moving around the Sand -- and periodically the last two eggs. Maybe they would want to come out and join their family soon? "Two riders in the family, eh? Seems auspicious for a Candidate, at least!" And why wouldn't it be? At least it showed dragons were interested in her parents, at minimum. Maybe she'd inherit whatever-it-was-dragons-looked-for, too. His own Mom was a mystery, but that was fine by him. H'aal, Litanuth, and the Crew had been enough for him.

"I like to think I got on with one of the blues! Poor chap's had some choppy waters to start, but seems to be rallying well!" It hadn't gone unnoticed by Razanel that the Green Spotted Blue had been one egg he'd thought to have gotten on well enough. But at least he had some crew, and that was always important in times of strife.

Meepfur

Nedemar
The little bronze had removed himself, and though he didn't get to give him a decent pat, his brows did knit when the little one laid down. He wasn't sure what had put him off so, but it seemed a shame. "Poor thing. Could use a little pick-me-up on such an auspicious day," he spoke to Isha, Bherrus, and Cetra.

But things were still happening. Dragonets were on the move, and it was important to keep an eye on ones surroundings. In fact, a little green trundled right up to Isha, and sniffed at her robes. For a moment he held his breath, thinking that maybe, just maybe this was her moment--but then it moved on, closer to her sisters.

Well, there were still plenty dragons out there. "Looks like the--" and then he stopped.

He (admittedly) hadn't been paying much attention to the gold dragonet once she had settled things with her blue brother, so he didn't notice that she had moved off to the sides. By the time the little queen had caught his eye, he had to do a double take. Not because she had clearly found someone from the Stands, which was a bit unusual for a Hatching and a queen at that. But because he finally saw the girl she had seemingly chosen.

It couldn't be.

Dragonets were forgotten as the floor seemed to drop out from under him, and he had to catch his breath in surprise.

No. This was some cruel joke, wasn't it?

Shaffit all, no, no, no, no, no! "What is she--" he started, almost wanting to bound over and demand some sort of explanation. But what could he say? What could he do? That was his sister! She wasn't a Candidate. She wasn't even interested in dragons, as far as he was concerned. This was his moment, this was his time, and she was waltzing away with none other than a queen!!

He was both defeated and absolutely enraged--but though he clenched his fists, he said nothing. Now wasn't the time. Not here, not with babies. As soon as the emotions rose up, he did his very best to rally his spirits, and beat them back down. Not here. Not now. But Faranth help him, how had she...? Why? Dragonriding had never been her dream. He was the one on Search! This was his home, not hers! She was supposed to run the damned Hold, after giving him so much guff about being an heir. He'd left, and it was all but arranged. A dragon was supposed to be HIS -- not hers. And to make it worse.... it was a gold. A metallic.

There was no way for him to do better than that. Even a bronze was of lower standing, as far as rank went.

All his dreams, gone in a moment, because he knew what this meant, if he failed to Impress. Surely, he would have to go back to the Hold. If Madanee wasn't going to run it as heir, which she now well could not, his father would need him. If he didn't, what would his poor father do?

But this was neither here nor there. Not while there were babies out and about.

The Hatching wasn't over yet, of course. Focus. He had to focus. Positive thoughts. But oh, he couldn't help but feel a newfound bitterness within his heart. Madanee always got in the way of his wants, his dreams. A fight for their parents attention. A fight for their Father's title. Honestly, what stung the most was that he had never wanted the Hold-- not like Madanee had. But when he had been Searched, finally, for the first time in his life there was something he did burn for and desire. He he had left dreaming to be the first rider in the family. And now she stole that moment from him, too.

Second born. Second best. Second to Impress, if he were destined for such a title.

Madanee and he had never been close siblings, too competitive, to strong willed. He knew he wasn't the first Candidate to have siblings one-up them, even from the sidelines... but that didn't lessen the defeat of the moment. Feelings were irrational sometimes, and Nedemar couldn't help but be left reeling.

((OOCly, I know I ramble -- but he is trying very hard to keep his feelings contained and private. He'll nurse it all later, when bby dragons aren't around .LOL ))

kedriom - he/him

Tyara had gotten lucky indeed, but it seemed as though they wouldn't have much time to discuss it--Kedriom's attention snapped to the Brown from the moment he approached, straightening up and turning his focus directly ahead. Jhiroquel knew how to handle himself, that much he knew; he didn't need to worry whether or not his fellow Candidate would be able to keep his head on his shoulders when he needed to be more concerned about his own.
Regardless, the Brown had approached to judge them, and Kedriom wouldn't dream of obstructing the dragonet's search. He opened his mind as much as he possibly could, gulping only the tiniest bit as he steeled his nerves in preparation for whatever happened next. Being this close to a dragon was thrilling, though, and Kedriom couldn't help but marvel at the Brown as he leaned in--he was a marvelous hatchling, even disgruntled as he may have been.

"It's--lovely to meet you." His tone is even, free of the nervous energy he felt gathering at the back of his skull all the while--Kedriom's glad for that. "At your service, though. If you need anything, just--ask."

Pink & Purple Zig Zag Egg gave another wobble, even as the being inside scratched at the shell. Well, this wasn't great. Was it late? Were any thinking of it? Or had it missed everything and now it was too? Oh dear, oh dear.

- - - -

The joyous little rascal of a Sketchy Cupcake Blue stood still as Eralgais made his inspection. His outstretched wings quivered just a little, but that was from all his pent up excitement and energy. Good show, friend! I appreciate your extra look-over--one can't be too careful about these things, of course. Nice to know my perfect hide isn't bruised. Which he did know, but that was neither here nor there. The Candidate put on a very good performance, and Cupcake was pleased.

Giving a happy honk, he brushed his nose against the others hand, before continuing on.

Now, who next?

Nikrys was next on his list, but only for a moment. Toddling up to the young woman, he reached up his neck (and body if necessary) only to boop her in the nose. Eyes bright blue with mirth he couldn't help but add, cheekily, Perhaps you didn't try giving their noses a proper boop! That would have settled things right out--I guarantee it. And with a hwenk, the cheerful lad scurried away, laughter in his wake.

Circling back to where he had originally hatched, he did stop at a fine fellow who appeared to be bleeding his own blood. Xharrakai seemed to be a sturdy fellow, though, and good spirited. No, no, not like that. Give them something good! Grab your leg, or at least roll in the sand a bit! Something to leave them on the edge of their seats! He encouraged, circling the other.

Oh! Wait! No, he knew what to do!

Curling his lips, he flared his wings and took a snap at the young man--though once again, his eyes were nothing but bright blue in humor. Let him look like some sort of brute or bully. So it was, he snarled, and huffed, and circled the stranger. They could at least give the spectators a good show!

"Three, even," Nisadee clarified with a slight smile, "My aunt is, too." To include color in the addendum, though, felt too much like name-dropping or boasting, in spite of that fact that personally, she placed no weight at all on being related to a goldrider; between her upbringing and her own temperament, to Nisadee, a dragon was a dragon, in the end. Oh, she well grasped that each had varying capabilities, but she didn't particularly care. They were all still dragons.

"Oh, the one out of the spotty green egg?" she inferred, her smile widening. "Looks like they're friends, then." She would absolutely not, however, muse aloud about how convenient it would be if they each Impressed to the dragonet they'd gotten along with best at the Touching, especailly given that said hatchlings seemed to friends. No, that thought didn't so much as cross her mind. Not even for a moment.

Meanwhile, Iweth stirred to visit with the smaller of his bronze sons, while Sketchy Cupcake circled and snapped the air around one of the Candidates he'd injured with his dramatic flailings, though his eyes were blue and he seemed to be hamming it up again. "He's having a good time, from the looks of it."

Quite abruptly the tiny Cloudy Skies bronze's hide went ashen. Although he was trying to rally himself, trying to lean into his father's loving thoughts, and his brother's tenderness, there was something wrong. Something terribly, terribly wrong.

Creeling, the baby peered around, his head lolling this way and that. What was so wrong? He didn't feel right. Something wasn't right. Daddy... the baby keened, a sense of hopelessness and despair filling him utterly. Brother... He scooted closer, trying to absorb the love, the warmth. Yet he could not help but feel that twisted wrongness. He keened again, laying his head once more down against his diminutive paws, his eyes fully grey.

Iweth tensed when his tiny Cloudy Skies bronze son went pale, the non-stop hum in his chest twisting sharply, jangling notes against the hatching song. Yellow and white flecked through his purple-blue eyes, and the comparatively huge bronze did his utmost to bunch down, to coil tightly around his keening child. He knew what the hatchling needed, but what could he do? How could he help beyond being here, being strong, loving his hatchling as much as he could for as long as he could.

Sweet starlight, shh, shh, it's alright! Who do you need, where are they? I will bring them to you if you need it, if you are too tired to go to them. If he had to snatch them up from the top of the stands himself he would do it. His baby was hurting, someone or something had hurt him, and he would do all he could to resolve it for his tiny son. He needed to impress, needed that solidness, that bond. Gingerly he nosed at the hatchling, nudging him encouragingly, wishing he could do this for him, do anything to help. No candidates had died or been taken away, his son's match just had to be here...!

None would deny you, starlight—you just have to reach out and ask, I promise...!

Oh! Oh no! Do excuse me, Mother, brother! For the Red and Gold Flowers brown had to abruptly take his leave - though he would not forget his offer to Gold Sunbeam if he was interested later! - and dashed to Cloudy Skies' side. He wasted no time in lying down beside him and pressing against his side, extending a wing over him. Whatever you need, brother, we're here.

Oh! Absolutely--I think I just need a little longer, and then--
Then, he felt it, and he stopped in his tracks.

No, something was not right at all. The Gold Sunbeam White knew that immediately, and he keened his concerns to the Sands at large as his brother's despair only grew. He clambered to his feet, using the bit of energy he'd regained to trot to the Cloudy Skies Bronze--something was very wrong, and his hearts ached in sympathy. He nuzzled up to the Bronze, crooning softly as he draped his tiny body across his sibling. He was only one little White, but if his brother needed him, he'd be there--whatever he could do, he'd gladly try.
There, there. We can wait until you're ready, okay? Yours is out there, and we'll get you to them! Still, he couldn't shake the streaks of gray from his eyes, even with the sea of purple rolling around in them. It hurt, seeing his brother brought this low--there had to be something he could do, right? The Gold Sunbeam White turned his attention to Iweth now, practically pleading as he looked up at their father Papa--maybe we can bring them a little closer when he's feeling better? Just so he doesn't have to search for as long. It'd be easier, I think.

He points his nose toward the Candidates, if only for a moment. He's not about to leave the Cloudy Skies Bronze unattended for much longer than that.

The Purple & Grey Space Blue seemed perfectly content to let White Tiger take center stage and announce them, looking at the sea of faces with a quiet confidence. As for meeting anyone in particular... He froze for a moment, twisting his head to look over to where the Cloudy Skies Bronze was laying. He was surrounded by their family, supported, but...

He stood for a moment, clearly torn, before carefully reaching out to add his mental support to his metallic brother. It was a hesitant touch, but there was no doubt of its warmth and concern. It is not much, He said carefully, But if it is within my power to help you... Yellow bled through his eyes for a moment before he looked back to his brothers. The images, faint as they were, did give them a starting point, though he was a little reluctant to move. I am happy to go where you please. He finally answered his Green Spotted brother.
