I'm not a vegetarian, but I rarely eat red meat.
I eat poultry often, but I only eat red meat when I'm out at a nice restaurant for a special occasion or if my school is serving it for lunch. :]
I don't think I could give up chicken for animal rights. It's sad that animals are being treated like that, but that's just how it goes. :/

well honestly, its a lot healthier if you don't eat meat. but if you become a vegetarian, you'll have to find vegetable and fruits that will give you the protein and strength that meat gave you. and also, it would be great to give up meat for animal rights, but im sure it's really difficult for some people
i would personally like to become a vegetarian.

Eating meat is so commonplace you can't ask everyone to become vegatarian, it is just impossible numbers you are dealing with. And in most 1st world countries, big bussiness is entwined with government, so a national campaign to stop meat eating would be stopped by the goverment because of the meat and fast food companies would try to stop it.
Is eating meat wrong? Even the bible says it is fine as long as you are not wasteful, what it all comes down to is what you belive in and it is YOUR CHOICE ALONE if you eat meat, and threating people with cause and effect is being plain viral if you ask me.

well, lions aren't vegitarians, and birds aren't vegitarians, and bears aren't vegitarians, and dogs aren't vegitarians, and bats aren't vegitarians. obviously other animals eat what they can when they're hungrey, and so do i. If you go veggie for your health, more power to you. If you go carnivorous to satisfy your hunger, great. It would be impossible to cause every species to go veggie. Paul says that we should not look down on each other because of what we eat. (then though the discussion was about eating meat from the pagan temple food places ~bible~)

My main reason for giving up meat is because of the environment. Factory farms generate a lot of waste and pollution, plus with the land that is being used to grow feed for livestock, we could grow much more food for people. I think it's best to eat organic/free-range if you can. The condition of the animals on the factory farms is important to me too. I used to believe in animal rights, until I read an essay that basically said that since animals have no reasoning skills, they can't respect others' rights, so they cannot have rights themselves. Now I agree that it is the people's responsibility to treat animals humanely. If we're going to use animals for food, we should at least treat them right.

First of all, stop eating meat? NEVER! Meat is a must for your body to get all the nutrients it needs, not that i'm saying fruits and vegetables aren't important as well, they are but you need meat as well and as a man I could never stop eating meat!

grode First of all, stop eating meat? NEVER! Meat is a must for your body to get all the nutrients it needs, not that i'm saying fruits and vegetables aren't important as well, they are but you need meat as well and as a man I could never stop eating meat! Well, you can get the nutrients you need from sources other than meat. Soy is a prime example, but many nuts are good sources of protein. The amino acids that are in meat can also be found elsewhere too, it just requires more types of food.

Usually the other foods are still in the meat section of the food pyramid, like nuts, but some of the foods are in the dairy and grains and fruits. For example, the amino acids found in meats can also be found in cheese, milk, and eggs. Some of the amino acids can also be found in beans, rice, nuts, and vegetables. The protein is made up of those amino acids, so you can get everything from other foods.

dboyzero I believe a much more relevant course of action, rather than giving up meat altogether, wold be to only eat meat that you know is raised and prepared in a healthy and humane manner. They have free-range chickens for sale, I'm sure that you could find some similar product for beef, pork, and fish. He took the words right out of my mouth...lol
