She reaches the punch bowl overhearing commotion about a squid. Odd thing to talk about at a refreshment table. She gets to the bowl, and realizes why that's what was talked about. She stares at the flailing arm for a moment. . . . then grabs her cup and the spoon.

Sipping the squid-flavored ginger beer punch from her cup, she took more time to look around the room. She saw some grey-haired girl leaving the scene. It was empty. No one else was moving to it. She hadn't approached a microphone in years. Last time, she squeaked like a mouse to one of her favorite songs, while hardly anyone paid her any attention unless it was out of pity or friendship. Would she try again? She stared at the karoake area intensely as she reminisced and contemplated...

She finally took her eyes off of the menacing microphone and noticed a wall of people just hanging there like wallflowers. She never thought she'd be one to consider such an area so inviting, but she was already heading in its direction...
