Tornado Wing
Nimueh of Brown Mharlith (Wingsecond)
HP:41
Status Effect: N/A
XP:
Target Accuracy: 6
Flame Length: 6+3
General Stamina: 8+1
General Agility: 6
Between Accuracy: 7
Pain Resilience: 8+3
Instinct: 6
Luck: 6

Nimueh surveyed the ruin of the wings. Many dragons had fallen out or retreated, the second tier of blues and greens were now tiring but at least thread was trailing off.
Less of the deadly clumps were falling from the sky, but that meant the silvery rain of thread which was thinner, harder to see and harder to flame, was becoming more common. They still had work to do.

Almost home free now beloved, and we can start putting our wings back together for the next one.

She sighed, soon it would be like this every day. She dreaded it for the losses it would incur. She glanced around her wing. Most of them were flagging in one way or another, but they would all keep going, see this through to the end.

Wingsecond roll first:
8-13. Well, things seem to be okay! You're doing your job, as you should. Nothing's going wrong right now... but nothing seems to be going overly right, either. Just another day fighting Threadfall.

As Mharlith swung around the edge of their wing formation again, eyes scanning for the spindly falling thread while checking in on the rest of their wing they both spotted it. At near enough the same time.
One of their wing riders bringing up the rear had made a wrong move, they had somehow managed to surround themselves with thread coming at them from all angles. Nimueh could see little way they could flame it all in time to avoid being scored.

Mharlith had jumped between before Nimueh could even give the command. Unfortunately the loss of that extra second of judgment that resulted of rider and dragon coming together the jump was misjudged. Instead of coming out in clear air they reappeared with a major clump of the remaining pestilence flying straight at them, engulfing them.

1/5 As you're fighting Thread, you see your nearby wingmate in danger. You immediately blink between, falling out of formation, but hoping to save them! Roll a D4.
4. You actually find yourself Betweening INTO the clump of Thread. Oh fardles! [Major Damage -10 HP]

Efrideet braced herself, not for Thread, but for something far worse: Asuracath was not one who enjoyed cruising at the Queen's Wing, whatever good company there happened to be, and it made the white's snappish anger even more prone to lashing out. She did her best to send soothing thoughts, but she sighed while doing so.

The mothers are important, sweetest. And look, we can watch the Ashlings at work. Surely a mental critiquing would make Hers feel better.

Asuracath only growled, bustled by a burst of wind but quick to slice through it and back into formation. She did, however, bark her...well, as respectful as one could be with that kind of voice, greeting to the golds. I AM YOURS FOR NOW, MY QUEENS.

A tiny figure amongst the sea of gold wings, Asuracath made her presence known--not just in her righteous trumpets, but in the bursts of precise fire that caught missed clots of Thread before they drew near. Efrideet wondered...No, she couldn't possibly be showing off for the queens. Could she? No, more likely she was just trying to instruct the senior weyrlings by example of how to fight their enemy and look good doing it.

Or both. Both was good.

Between Accuracy: 6

They were still lagging somewhat behind when the signal was given for them to switch altitudes but at least Ka'n could relax somewhat since the winds and thread at mid altitude were more manageable compared to that at high altitude.

< We're almost done here Zarelth. Just a while more and then we can head back to get your shoulder looked at. > He sent to his bonded, a little concerned over how the brown was doing after the injury that was sustained. < I'm alright Mine. Just a little more time and I'll have my strength back once more. >

Glancing at the other riders around them and noticing that one of the greens seemed to be out of sorts as well, Zarelth decided on the spur of the moment to swing over and whisper words of encouragement to the other to spur them on so that they and those whom they were fighting to protect may live to see another day.

It was beyond a relief to hear that her daughters were both fine and at least two of her boys. But Ash'il, oh her son had fallen and it broke her heart apart. Heart? Hearts? A rumble passed through her head and with a sudden flame three hearts beat as one again, Tarmath struggling back from the darkness she'd fallen into with a loud roar that echoed through the bowl. It wasn't just pain, it wasn't just anger, it was anguish. Alythrae felt it rip through her entire body and it nearly had her rising from the table she was laying on, desperation to be at her dragon's side pushing her past the pain and the loopy feeling that was throbbing in the back of her mind. The large green needed her and she needed Tarmath.

Tell me how! Came the dragon's voice in her head, it screamed loudly and thundered around enough that her attempt to move was stalled and she slumped back down once more, the healers holding her again and stitching as fast as they could. At least they seemed to understand why she wanted up and while they weren't going too fast that they might not get her fixed up the right way she could tell they were moving quicker.

Tell you how what? What are you worried about? WHY are you awake!? Aly's voice in her dragon's head was calm at least, though she tried to emphasize her own fears for the green being awake when she needed such extensive healing. It was like knives cutting all over her body, she could feel each wound the dragon had sustained and each scar that she would bear and her eye....

Instantly she was overwhelmed by a sense of motherly desire that wasn't entirely her own. Rather it was an amplified feeling that she got from Tarmath as the green reached out to touch each mind of the children she'd watched grow and each dragon that they had impressed. It wasn't a panicked touch, more like a hesitant prickle that she could feel through their connection, but without an answer the green's mind went black once more following a brief pain. It had to be something that they were doing or giving her to help stabilize her in a way, but it felt painful even if it was quick.

Clearly Tarmath had been worried for them and had picked up from her own jumbled thoughts that Ash'il had fallen with Iptoneth. Shifting her head a bit so she could glare over her shoulder at the healer that was just finishing up, pulling the stitches tight to knot them and cut it tight against, Aly pulled away from them the moment they released her. She didn't care about numbweed, this wasn't as painful as it had been earlier before they had drugged her and her dragon had sobered her instantly with her outburst. Squeezing her daughter's hand once more, the greenrider shifted to sit, twisting her body without letting go of the hand she held tightly to and she dangled her legs over the edge.

"I'm so glad you're both okay, please check on your brother for me?" Aly offered, her green eyes were welled with tears that weren't falling as she forced them to stay.

Demanthra/Monath, Ash'il/Iptoneth, and Ashlyn/Gyafrith

Ashlyn and Demanthra both heard the roar, right before seeing their mother reacting. They knew it meant that Tarmath must have regained consciousness and was in pain. As the healers worked, Ashlyn watched carefully, making sure they didn't screw anything up. She would know, she had learned enough in her training, even if she was a rider now. The young woman still did what she could, when she needed to and she would not want them to mess up with something this important. Demanthra squeezed her mother's hand again as the older woman sat up, seeing how much more lucid she seemed to be.

"Gyafrith..."Ashlyn began.

"Monath.."Demanthra started.

On it, MineOn it,MineGyafrith and Monath both spoke in unison to their bonded. They and their riders had felt the small touch of the older green, so they knew what their partners wanted them to do without words spoken.

Tarmath, we are all going to be fine. Let the healers work on you, please,Gyafrith soothed, reaching out to the motherly green.

Please do not worry, I made sure to protect Mine with everything I had. And she watched out for me, making me come down when she was worried,Monath added gently.

I am hurting, but also going to be fine. And I can sense Mine, so he will be okay. Just stubborn, like his mother,Iptoneth reached out too, for both himself and his rider. He knew Ash'il wanted Tarmath and his mother to know he was still here.

"I..am okay..Mom,"Ash'il spoke softly from his bed. He had gotten through his mental haze her asking his sisters to check on him.

He is semi conscious, Ariath. He is just kind of fuzzy headed, but I will pass on that your's is worried,Iptoneth thought to the gold in the sky.

Is...she..really...worried?Ash'il managed to ask through his connection.

Of course. I am sure she saw us go down and Uridith catch us,Iptoneth reminded.

We are almost done! Elzebuth roared defiantly at the thread that still streaked past them, belching forth flame to char the clump to dust! G'ran grimly thumped his shoulder, feeling just how tired they both were. Still, they could do this. This is what they were meant to do!

You easily fight through it, and find your dragon isn't really winded at all.

The wind attempted to buffet them from the sky, but with Elzebuth nearly at his full growth, well... his huge bulk made it so that he barely even wobbled! G'ran felt a huge swell of pride. Already, Elzebuth had learned how to handle the wind after their first attempt fighting Thread. He couldn't be prouder.

Thread! G'ran focused hard, and Elzebuth easily darted Between. They emerged right next to the vicious strand, and it was soon burned to a crisp! They were in sync with one another yet again! There was no stopping them!

3. Neutral! Your dragon begins to be blown out of position, but fights it by giving a few powerful flaps of their wings. There. No one noticed anything out of place.

The wind roared past them, and Elzebuth easily corrected his position with a few flaps of his still-sore wings. He easily maintained his spot, earning an approving thump on his shoulder from G'ran.

If not a Queen, you successfully flame that Thread down and turn it down into harmless ash! Take that! Job well done! +2 Flame Length

There! G'ran saw the silver menace snake down from above, and Elzebuth belched flame. He was getting better and better at sustaining it, and G'ran felt grim satisfaction as the patch was reduced to harmless ash.
