 ((Joshua & Katalina fought then made up and now are visiting Krakens, Aoife is who-knows-where, and Joey is moping cause he was talked out of trying to talk to Violet. That's about it.))

Violet was sitting on a rock far out of view of shore.....
she was looking out at the water with her tail touching the water and her scales shining in the sun....

((aww, you beat me too it...anyways, yea. Joey is on a rock in the water, btw...a few hundred feet from the shore and i assume that we left Aoife by the beach...but idk. anyways, welcome back! And thus, I shall post!))
Joey blinked and looked out farther. He cursed to himself. It was Voilet...on a rock a few hundred feet away. He was screwed. He couldn't jump in the water. That would bring attention to himself and she would probably end up hunting him down anyways. He decided to stay on the rock, where he was moderately safe. "Great...just great...and I had given up on the idea to talk to her, too..."

violet was just looking at the water, watching her own reflection.....
"I wonder where they all went...... why they left...."
she said to her self lost in thought watching her self as the water moved from the waves sending shudders through her image....

Joey stared at Violet. She seemed to be lost in thought. He would take that opportunity to slip away. He went to climb down the rock when he slipped and fell into the water...in full view of Violet. He hit the water with a loud splash. He rose to the surface, coughing. "Aw, crap...ow..." He looked down at his knee, which was bleeding. "You have got to be kidding me..." He began to climb back up onto the rock, wincing every second.

The young kraken considered it. She looked back at the others and chirruped at them, and they responded cheerily in kind. It seemed that they were discussing the name, although there was really no way to tell. Katalina's little smile was also difficult to decipher - it could have been sympathetic or approving. Kra said nothing. This was clearly the young one's decision.
The young one abruptly turned back to him. "I like it," she announced. "None of the others can think of anything better." She glanced up (and up, and up) at Kra.
Kra's enormous eyes were pleased. "Then Oceania it shall be," he rumbled in reply.

Joshua released the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. He smiled at the newly named Oceania. "I'm glad you like it." He glanced at Kra and saw the older kraken looking pleased. 'So? What do you think of the name?' He asked Katalina telepathically. He wanted her honest opinion of the name. So far, the rest of them liked it, but as always Katalina's thoughts were a mystery. He wasn't sure what to make of her expression.

Katalina gave him a curious sideways look. About the name? she replied. Does it really matter what I think of it? She likes it, and that's what counts.
In truth, she thought the name was just fine. But she wanted to know what Joshua would say in response to something that vague. She glanced over at the young kraken and smiled secretly to herself.

Joshua returned the curious look with one of his own. 'I was curious as to what you thought of it. And actually, your opinion does count.' He felt as though she was almost testing him. Though he couldn't imagine why she would feel the need to do something like that. Still, he'd told her the truth. Katalina was the sea creature that he knew the best. Her opinion counted quite a bit in ocean matters like this. Despite the fact that Oceania had already show she like the name.

Katalina lifted a brow. As such things go... she began. Then she couldn't help it anymore, curiosity or no curiosity, and broke into a smile. It's very nice, Joshua. She'll be able to use it without embarrassment as she gets older. Isn't it interesting to think that something you gave to the world will live as long as she does?
She wondered if he'd thought of that. That the name he'd given this little kraken would live through at least five thousand years.

Joshua froze for a moment. Then he relaxed, smiling. 'Actually, I hadn't thought of that. I just wanted a name that would sound nice. Something she would like and wouldn't be ashamed or embarrassed by.' Though it was an interesting though. The name he'd bestowed upon little Oceania would last far longer than he would. It was kind of nice to know that even when he was gone, something of him would remain in the kraken he'd named.

I didn't think you would have, replied Katalina with a little smirk. That's why I reminded you. She looked back at the young one - Oceania - who seemed to be engrossed in a conversation of some sort with Kra. She wondered how Kra was going to name all - she counted quickly - all twenty-three of them. And where they all would go. Was there enough room in the seas for twenty-three young krakens to grow to be Kra's size?

Joshua decided to just ignore the smirking mermaid. Instead, he turned his attention back to the group of young kraken. He wondered about what kind of names Kra would choose for them. Suddenly, it crossed his mind that his seemed to be a large group. Especially when you took into account how big they would all get. "Kra? How many eggs are usually laid at once?" He recalled that the older kraken had told him that this was a mixed group that he had gathered from abandoned nests. So if this was a mix group, how many was a normal group?

Kra glanced over at him in surprise as the young ones went back to talking amongst themselves. Seemed they had a lot to say for creatures who had only just come into being.
"How many?" he repeated. "Anywhere from two to five, generally speaking. Sometimes there is only one, sometimes as many as six. But in a nest that large, usually at least one will be a dud." He looked at the group of baby kraken and said quietly, "I have been lucky."

Joshua nodded. It made sense. Something as big as a kraken wouldn't be able to support so many in one area. Now though, they had the whole ocean to cover, so it was less of a worry. He watched the little ones chatter among themselves. He looked closely, seeing if he could spot the differences that Kra had pointed out. Now that he was looking, he could see. A few shades in color separated some of them. The ones the same color as Oceania also appeared to be ever so slightly smaller. 'Thought that could just be me seeing what I want to.' He thought to himself.
