Apologies for the wall of text, but...
So... Kusa and aretoo headed over to the local Burger King, as they have several coupons for them (mostly from the Indiana Jones promotional, but also one for a free Oreo shake with a steakhouse burger combo). We're at the speaker waiting for a couple minutes, and Kusa says:
KUSA: Hello?
(nearly simultaneously)
BK LADY: Just a moment, I've got someone at the window
ARETOO: Okay...
KUSA: (quietly) what great timing!
(several more minutes go by)
BK LADY: May I take your order?
ARETOO: We'd like a Whopper and large fries...
BK LADY: Just a minute, I'm talking to the people at the window.
(pause of a couple minutes; meanwhile, 3 more cars pull up behind aretoo's car)
BK LADY: Sorry for the delay, we had some deaf people at the window. (sound of phone ringing) And now my phone is ringing, (Noise stops) and now it's not. We were wondering why they didn't order at the speaker. May I take your order?
ARETOO: Did you get the Whopper and large fries?
BK LADY: Not yet.
ARETOO: Okay, we have a coupon for the Whopper, and we'd like some large fries.
BK LADY: Anything else?
ARETOO: I'd like a Steakhouse Burger combo...
BK LADY: We're out of the crunchy onions for a Steakhouse Burger, so it wouldn't really BE a Steakhouse Burger...
ARETOO: Ah. Well, you see, I have a coupon for a free Oreo shake with the Steakhouse Burger combo...
BK LADY: Well, my shake machine is down, too...
(aretoo begins laughing)
KUSA: Goddammit!*
ARETOO: Okay, um...
KUSA: (quietly) Get a whopper, too; if they don't have the materials for a Whopper, they should shut down
ARETOO: (quietly) That's actually what I was thinking of. (louder) I'd like a #1 combo, large size, with Coke.
BK LADY: Okay, I'll have your total at the window.
(at window)
BK LADY: That'll be $10.47
ARETOO: (pulling out money and coupon) Okay... (hands over money) Wait... That's a bit much...
KUSA: What about the coupon?
ARETOO: Ah, yes
BK LADY: Was that first Whopper supposed to be a Whopper Jr.?
ARETOO: Um, no... is that what the coupon's for?
BK LADY: Yes.
KUSA: Goddammit!*
ARETOO: Um, just make it a regular whopper.
KUSA: Yep it's a sunday alright.
BK LADY: It's not usually like this on a Sunday.
ARETOO: Funny... any time we come by here on a Sunday, you're running out of things!
BK LADY: No, I mean, it's not usually this busy. We ALWAYS run out of things on Sunday night.
(hands aretoo and Kusa bags of food)
BK LADY: Was there anything else you wanted?
ARETOO: Yes, do you have fry sauce?
BK LADY: Ah yes-Um, no, we're out of that.
KUSA: Goddammit!*
ARETOO: (Laughs louder)
So... our little sketch comedy for the evening, done in real life. mrgreen
* Every time Kusa exclaims this, his voice raises in pitch
