As Narcis reached the area that was too shallow to swim in, he paused. Turning back to Katalina, he said sternly, "I'm not going to ask you to promise not to worry. I am going to ask you not to worry yourself sick. We'll get him back."
He kept his eyes level on hers until she nodded, then went on to the point where he was pretty much beached. Once he landed, he gritted those sharp teeth briefly and closed his eyes. The tail almost seemed to...separate up the middle, the scales melting into a smooth tan skin and the fins subtly rearranging themselves until they looked like feet. From the waist up, he remained pretty much the same.
When he sat up, smiled faintly, he was to all intents and purposes human. Really quite an attractive one, if one didn't know what he was.
Katalina flushed slightly and looked away. Narcis glanced down at himself and sighed. "That's right. People wear clothes, don't they. I should probably do something about that."

 Joshua watched, curious, as Narcis's scales seemed to melt away. He looked away before the transformation finished though. "I'll get you some clothes. I need to change anyways." He ducked into his small camp, giving Joey a way as he passed. Quickly, he stripped out of his wet stuff and dried off. Dressed in clean, dry clothes, he grabbed some for Narcis. Coming back out, he handed the clothes to the siren. "Here. These should fit well enough."

Narcis did his best with the clothing - it had been so long since the last time he did this that he hardly knew what to do. Once he figured that he was finished, he glanced at Joshua. "Right," he said. "Onwards. Now, where are we going, and what are we going to do when we get there?"
He figured the boy would be the best bet - Katalina would know less than he did. She was younger, for one thing, and had yet to actually step foot on shore. So it seemed easier to talk to the one who'd been born to this about what to do next.

((Yep. Here's a quick recap if you want. Joey met Aoife (a sea fairy) and Violet (mermaid). Joshua went out with Katalina, Narcis is a siren (changed to human currently) and Katalina's cousin. Nezik, her younger brother is gone missing and they think a fishing boat has caught him. Narcis and Joshua about to head inland to see if they can find Nezik.))
Joshua thought for a moment, then pointed in one direction. "Well that's where the closest town with a port is. That's probably our best bet. We need to get there, then look around and ask some questions. If Nezik was caught and people found out, the town is sure to be full of rumors and gossip." He paused, considering the next steps to be taken.
"If we confirm that Nezik was there, the next thing to find out is if the ship sold him there or carried onwards. Or if they are waiting for something." He nodded sharply. That seemed to be their best plan of action. Of course, planning could only do so much. They would have to be ready for anything. A thought crossed his mind. "And we can't let people know just how much we know. That means no referring the Nezik by name."

Violet dove back under the surface and left the others....
she swam towards the bottom and towards a large and colorful reef....

((OOC: Some vague hinting around on my part, but since I don't think anyone else has caught it yet, I'll keep it to myself.))
Narcis nodded quietly, apparently considering it himself. "Is it a big town?" he inquired. "They would sell wherever they would get the best price, I would think. More likely in a big place." His smile was tight. "Big place means a lot of gossip. Lots of stories."
Then he shrugged after glancing back at the water - where Katalina had been, although it looked like she had gone back underwater now. "I do know that much, Joshua," he said, referring to Joshua by name for the first time. "So. Since you would know where this town is, please, lead on."

Joshua was startled by the use of his name, though he tried not to show it. He nodded and turned, heading into the trees. "I believe it's one of the biggest port-side cities around here. There's also several aquariums and research centers in the vicinity. They're best price would probably be found int this place." He trotted along as he spoke. The forest was a loosely packed one, allowing for fairly easy passage in most parts.

Keeping pace easily - indeed, he didn't seem to have much trouble with walking for a creature born and bred to swim - Narcis continued his calm questioning. "Lucky for us."
After a minute, he asked, "Any that are bigger than others? I'd assume the larger the place, the more money they have to buy something unusual and learn to care for it." That thought seemed to strike him, and he stopped speaking for a moment or two. Then, reluctantly, he finished the sentence with, "If they care for him."

Joshua shook his head. "There are larger towns, but they're all inland. All of the aquatic stuff is along the coast here. Port Handa, the place we're going to, is the largest of the seaside cities." He sighed and nodded, acknowledging Narcis's reluctant finish. "Anything big to do with the sea, Port Handa will know if not be the center of it." He noted that the siren moved unusually well on land. He wondered how old Narcis was, and how much practice he'd had. Shaking his head, Joshua pushed such thoughts to the side. 'Now is not the time for curiosity.'

Lucian was skipping around in town with a bag full of snacks. He took out a donut and devoured it. “BAWAHAHAHAHA…NO DONUTS CAN SURVIVE MY RATH…” People stopped and stared at him. Most recognizing the school uniform he was wearing. Lucian continued to skip along with a grin on his face. He was swinging the bag around while humming softly. He stopped, noticing sweets in a window. He glanced at his bag then back at the sweets. Lucian smile widened as he walked into the store. After about ten minutes, he walked out with an even bigger bag.
