Because gay men aren't allowed. razz Despite the fact that straight people and lesbians can have HIV and other diseases, gay men are considered too "high risk". Even though right now in Canada, the largest growing demographic to contact HIV is young, straight women. =/

That's so stupid. It's okay in Canada according to my mom who works at the hospital. You should check and see if it's changed recently.-La Belle Isolde-

That's so stupid. It's okay in Canada.-La Belle Isolde- I'm in Canada, and it must vary from province to province, because it isn't allowed in Ontario, New Brunswick, or Nova Scotia, for sure. =s

It was a huge deal in the papers for NS only a few months ago. I'm looking into it now, actually.
I'm wondering if perhaps my meds would prohibit me from donating anyway?

What medication is it?
I'm from Alberta, I'll ask my mom when the movie we're watching is over to see if I can get more details.
Also, she's a pharmacist so she'd know more about the medication than the blood donation.-La Belle Isolde-

Apparently there're several reasons I can't donate, according to Canadian Blood Services' website:
-Had a piercing in the last 6 months
-the ghey thing
-Possibly the medication I take. (Depakote and Zoloft.)

Wow, you're right, it's not possible in Canada. WTF? HIV doesn't discriminate, why do the blood clinics?
