okay, this is a photo of a building near my home. There's a pair of black vultures that has made the chimney into a nest for several years running. Now they return with their grown children and thier mates as well! These are turkey vultures though..who apparently came by to visit.

The picture makes me laugh. Especially with the sign. Can anybody think of a good caption for it?

everyone else is posting adorable photos of friends, family, kiddos and pets and here I am posting carrion birds.. hehe. I never ever said I was normal. Actually, I just really enjoy wildlife. BTW, below is what a black vulture looks like. (in the photo above I -think- both birds tucked up on the ground with wings folded are black vultures, it is difficult to tell.)
Black Vultures can have wing spreads of up to five feet. Turkey vultures get even larger.



this is one of our regulars. He/She is sitting on a lamp post in our backyard. Doesn't it look so sorrowful? Funny how we see emotions reflected in animals. This one was just keeping an eye on me while I crept closer and closer with a camera.

And mirthy, I LOVE BIRDS ! especially those ones. The second picture is so beautiful. It makes me want to have one, even though I know they need to be wild. I already have a parrotlet anyways. blaugh

I love watching birds and well, anything else that will show off for me.
Here is a blue jay just a split second after he leaped off a branch...see how he is already twisting in midflight?


here is another critter from the same walk. This little squirrel is getting a bit of sun on the front porch of his nest. I thought it looked rather like the piles of leaves in the spiderwick event razz
