The Indigo & Yellow Colorful Egg gave another big shimmy, and another big shift. Whoever was in it wanted out, that much was sure. In fact, it made such a wobble that it rolled down its little mound, but didn't go far, caught by a small dip in the sand. Out, out, out!!
- - -
The Green Zig-Zag Egg began to wobble and move, a slow back and forth, its contents starting to stir. The big egg gave a little jerk this way, and a little jerk that way. Soon. Soon..
- - -
But not soon enough! Instead, an egg that had been relatively still quite suddenly crumbled. With two sharp wobbles, The Pink Striped Egg found a pair of dark green wings pushing through its shell. With one loud and irritable rawr a second green dragon shoved her way out of her egg. She was covered with some egg goop and fragments, causing her to kick and flail irritably at them. Get off, shell! Away! She has no time for this!
Once clean enough, the green gave another demanding bugle, her eyes whirling a bright red. Watch out world, Pink Striped Green was here!

h'win and blue suuth (hr)
H'win turned, inclining his head at the brownrider in greeting. Without a reason to snark, the man could seem quite pleasant, and he wasn't about to get outwardly snappish at someone he didn't know, especially not when there were Westerners nearby. He might not have personally thought of himself as lower than a brown, but appearances were important today.
"I don't want to speak poorly of Fort, especially not while they are in the middle of Threadfall, but I completely agree." He sharply faced the sands again as the pink egg exploded, expecting screaming and carnage and getting an amiable little green in their place. H'win watched her for a time, smirking slightly at Suuth's coos in his mind. "Well, that's a good start."

Rio
Before he could respond to Dorianus' question with the guess that the busy indigo and yellow egg would be the first to hatch, another egg rendered that conversation moot when a green burst from its pink shell; fortunately it was enthusiasm and friendliness that drove the hatchling, and he watched it with a grin. "I'd say that's a good start! Hopefully the rest of them will be so agreeable."
Or...not. The other, larger pink egg opened to reveal a second green, but this one was red-eyed and unhappy about something. Rio sighed. "Looks like someone hatched on the wrong side of their egg."
Without making any sort of show or real gesture out of it, he shifted his way forward, putting himself just half a step in front. Just in case. After the way the Hatching had gone at Western, regardless of what he hoped and said, he wasn't about to blindly trust that none of the dragonets would cause harm, intentionally or no. And if they did, he'd rather it not be to his friends, new or old.
((Sorry to jump post order a little...probably won't have time to post again until after work and wanted to get it out there.))

————Oseathiol———— Oh! OH! The first egg had splintered open! Not the one he'd been musing about, but another! Beaten to the punch! That's alright, there's no rush after all...oh but look at her! He well understood having more energetic siblings who were faster off the start, but his commiserating with the indigo and yellow egg couldn't last. Not when such a bright, shiningly joyful little green had come prancing to life right before his yes! How many hatchings had he played witness to over the turns? It never ceased to render him speechless (more so than he already was) with awe.
Down below his previous lines of prose came more, flowing easily even as his eyes remained fixed on the frolicking green. Who cared about the heat? Who cared that the tops of his nose and ears had begun to go ruddy? Not him, at least, not right now!
But another came first, Shed her shell with such glee, She reveled and flourished with keen eyes sky-blue. To task she would bend, But first she'd be free! She gamboled and frolicked, the whole world was new!
And then, before even that ink had dried, another! A second green, with all the fire and rage of a bronze blazing thread from the sky. The man shivered just slightly, his heart aching preemptively for potential bloodshed to come...but look how terribly strong she was already. A perfect, deadly little thing...
Then a sister in contrast, Hunter in mind a hue, Stepped forth on the sands to scream her defiance. With eyes red as the Star She'd soon battle, she knew, She sought out the right one to yield in compliance.
————Jacquol———— "Oh, here we go then!" Jacquol was up on her tiptoes to see the bouncing, prancing green that'd come rolling out like seafoam onto the beach. "That's the right sort of attitude! It's a lovely day, and the beach is great. Oh, oops! Looks like she's noticed we're here, heh." How adorable. Well really, it made sense. You're brand new to the world, and yeah there's all these people here too, but EVERYTHING'S new, so why would that be any more interesting than, say, the clouds, or the sky, or your own feet? Though she supposed, the green would need to pick a partner before too long...but she didn't seem in any distress about it.
The second green though, that was a different story. Red eyes meant danger, anger, and everyone with half a brain knew it. "Maybe she wants someone not here?" Though how would the green know without looking? Maybe she knew they'd come to...not-quite steal the clutch. It didn't really matter, right? Impression was impression, and dragons in the sky meant a safer Pern over all. Or maybe she was just mad she wasn't first, who was to say? C'mon doll, it's a lovely day, why so cranky about it? Still, it had Jacquol catching Kiri's gaze before glancing again to the treeline. If this got bloody, she was more than ready to run for it.
And amid all that, she hadn't missed the glance from...some small, timid little thing? Well, small was the wrong word. Whoever they were was tall, but something about how she carried herself...seemed mostly harmless. It was hard to tell with just a glance, but Jacquol'd caught a spark of recognition. Who on Pern though might have mentioned her to someone? And why? On a whim she reached out, looping an arm through the strange girl's, tugging her a bit closer. "Mind that red-eyed one, eh? Never know when they might charge. Same a green take out a boy's throat at the last hatching...don't worry though. We'll all run for the trees if it goes sour, aye?"
Friends close, potential-enemies-or-maybe-just-odd-people-glancing-your-way closer, right?
————Zelaya———— It was the motion and noise of the crowd that alerted Zelaya that something had happened. An egg had hatched? She turned from her father and her friend to peek towards the clutch...but no. The throng of bodies was far too thick and too tall. She could see areas in motion, places where, perhaps, a hatchling was on the movie, but little more. The murmurs said 'green', and then 'greens', so that made sense. No scream though, and no shouts of joy. "Only a green, first," She mused quietly. That wasn't the best luck, right? Though there had been a bronze first at Western's clutch. Hmm. Maybe once the crowd thinned out some she'd catch a peek. For now though, she turned her focus back to the man and woman alongside her.

[ soui - western ]
Soui had just about decided to slather the sun block on her cousin and this new man (likely without their permission) when her thoughts were pulled away by the sound of cracking. The hum must have brought about the hatching, and Soui's eyes went wide as she witnessed a beautiful dragonet come onto the sands....and run like the wind. Did all dragonets do that? At least she seemed fairly peaceful, interacting with the candidates in a manner Soui approved of, leading her to hope that this hatching would be calm.
Then came the loud(ish) bugle from a new dragonet, a darker green that came from the other pinkish egg. Her eyes were red, and if Soui could recall - red usually meant anger. She knew a dragon could never hurt a person but a dragonet could and would kill, and red eyes meant danger was possible. She'd need to be prepared to help in any way possible, even if meant just holding pressure on a wound or calming someone from a panic attack.
Soui was a healer and this is where healers were needed most. ....during hatchings, of course. Healers were always needed just they were needed most when an angry hatchling was on the sands.
Hattaki for tsuyat. just posting soui's response to the hatchlings, hope it's okay!

Aelyx (Western)
Two now hatched, one furious and bugling, two preparing for their hatch. She could hardly help the fear that pinched at her chest, eyes studying the small creatures. Nerves thrummed in her chest, and her feet shifted on the warm sand as she stepped up beside Henwas. Dragonet or not, she was not going to let him die for her, so it would be the two of them standing together. "...Here we go....Hatchlings now."
Rune and Rhys
She would be lying if she said that the angry little Green didn't intrigue her. Whirling red eyes caught Rune's gaze, curiousity bringing her to study those dark hues, wondering at them. How intriguing. Rhys...Well, he'd stay with the pale little thing, thank you very much. The female twin inched forwards, watching him in her robes, head canted aside, "Look at YOU."

Ticene - High Reaches Candidate
A light laugh bubbled up in Ticene's throat as she was pulled along. We're all hatchings like this? Or was this the way of Western candidates? She didn't recognise these people, so was assuming they were from Western; even though it was probable, if not likely, that there were plenty of High Reaches candidates that she wouldn't recognise. The candidate gave a wave as she was introduced to the others.
Good luck huh? Well Ticene would take it. Maybe that combined with her being in a familoar environment would be enough for one of he hatchlings to notice her.
She caught one of the boys saying something about the Western hatching. She'd heard a few things, but had gotten to the Weyr a touch too late. It was all rumours made to spook new candidates wasn't it? It seemed like another candidate agreed though. Well she hoped nothing would happen whether the stories of the last hatching were true or not.
There wasn't really time to ask though before one of the eggs exploded. Well, points for energy definitely. The green was away and Ticene grinned as she craned her neck to followed her progress. Well she was certainly going to be a fast one, now how long would her speed last before the green got tuckered out? At least she seemed friendly. Ticene hoped a little the green would swing her way. Even if she wasn't who the green wanted it would be nice to get to see a newborn dragon up close.
"She's gorgeous," Ticene replied to Esfir in a hushed voice, her eyes never leaving the little whirlwind of a green. They did however when a roar caught her attention. Well, it was an attempt at a roar at least. As good as a tiny throat could manage. This newest addition had Ticene biting her lip to stop her smile. The poor darling seemed awfully bothered by all the shards and goop. Who could blame her though, if she wanted to be able to breath?
Apparently some would. Ticene frowned slightly at Rio's sigh and comment, looking from the candidate to the green. Maybe it was her naivety speaking, but it seemed unfair to write off the newborn so early. "I think I'd be pretty moody too if I'd been cramped in an egg on a hot beach." Rio stepped forward and her confusion deepened. Having taken his comment as a judgement it confused her that he would now step forward. Candidates could be a confusing bunch some times.
