They appeared from Between, and already Macuith had a patch of Thread to flame. The winds were blowing harder than either dragon or rider had expected, and the scarred up blue did his best to fight the gust. Thought it was dangerous in such dim light, C'lusi encouraged his Between--and thankfully, Macuith appeared right where he had intended.
The patch was turned to ash, and the blue rider gave a whoop. That's how it's done.

3. Light Scoring! You get too close to Thread and some of it winds up tangling up with you. Ouch! Quick, Between again! Minor Damage -3 HP
4. Failure! You overshoot, and miss your target completely. Instead, it falls on one of your fellow wingmates, and they scream in pain as they disappear to the sanctuary of Between. [Take 3 turns of Guilt! Any Damage rolled takes an additional -5 HP. Any successful bonuses or saves by other players don't affect your character. You just don't deserve it.]

It was always surprising when things calmed down. Quickly, almost too quickly, the winds died and no Thread was near them--at least as far as C'lusi could see. Still, the rider wasn't going to take any chances or let his guard down. He feared for his three-legged dragon... and feared what could happen as soon as the winds picked up again.
I'll be quite fine, I'm sure. It takes more than a bit of Thread or flame to keep me down. His blue sent him nothing but fondness and love. There would be no repeat injury this time.

A clump of Thread catches you on your leg. You quickly hop Between, easing the sting of the burn. It hurts, but you're going to fight through the pain. Healers can wait. +1 Pain Resilience
With a snort of annoyance, Macuith bared his fangs as a tangle of Thread wrapped about his foot. Thankfully, C'lusi had had an idea of where they would be jumping to-- and a quick hop Between meant the pain was quickly soothed. It was not a deep wound, thanfully.

The wind really was the enemy, and the clump that Macuith had intended to flame was suddenly pushed far out of his airspace. C'lusi, ever determined to sweep it up, gave Mac coordinates--but unfortunately, the wind also turned. As soon as they appeared, the blue was sent right into the clump! Macuith's shoulder, and part of C'lusi's right leg got the brunt of it-- and while it wasn't a deep wound, it was enough to ache.
A trip Between solved the problem of Thread... but the sting was enough to remind both rider and dragon that it was better to be cautious this night.

This was taking a while and Ri'ven was starting to feel every second of guilt he'd ever had since Impressing out of the healers so that he couldn't help. While he COULD be of some use still on the sands if someone was wounded during a hatching or if his dragon was wounded and Thread was falling, he had another life now. Still, the redhead reached up and took Hoath's delicate head in gentle hands, one hand running down the bridge of his nose softly.

Carefully he rested his forehead against Hoath's right eyeridge, remembering him being so small that he could carry him around if the brown had wanted. In fact more often than not he'd enjoyed being carried around, though he wouldn't admit it now at a full forty feet in length.
You could remember some better times than that, surely. Hoath pressed gently, remembering how there had been blood running down Ri'ven's face when he'd met him, his brother had paid dearly with his life later but the brown had never once forgiven the larger dragon, even after he disappeared Between.

That drew a laugh out of Ri'ven as the dragon leaned a little towards the Healer's hands when they called for it. He was wincing again, but at least he'd calmed in the hour he'd been laying on the cool stone floor of the Bowl being tended to.

Finally the healers made the call and they were able to return and Hoath rumbled in something like irritation to be back up with his wingmates. They'd wasted so much time but even he had to admit that he felt a lot better than he had before. His wings were still sore in some places but at least it wasn't a fresh burning like when he'd been hit by a wingmate.

Patched up and given the all-clear to rejoin, K’vos is quick to climb into her straps before Slistalth is up into the air and the pair disappears once more.
