As you're looking for the rogue Thread, you notice one of your wingmates in danger. You and your dragon call out warning and are lucky to see the pair respond. Quote a Wingmate and have all damage removed from their most recent roll!

There was more than just Sura or Esurienth's hide on the line and Sura used that knowledge to keep herself sharp. It would have been so easy to be distracted by the tingle of pain across the back of her neck, after all.

As you're burning down a clump of Thread, something doesn't seem right.
With a sudden shout and twist, your dragon lurches to the side, as a shaffing bag of firestone comes hurdling down. Damnit! What on Pern are they doing up there!?! Amateurs! +1 Instinct

Sura watched as a bag of Firestone fell down past her and furrowed her brow - It's hard enough for us to get our hands on as-is. You'd think they'd be more careful with it. she thought to herself, fully aware it was an accident and nothing more. Better stone than a dragon.

Sura didn't allow herself to feel too satisfied as the ash rained down from her successful hit. There were clumps she hadn't gotten, after all, and those they protected still had to deal with ashy skies for the coming days.

You suddenly see a clump of Thread. Your dragon wheels towards
it. With a flash of hot fire, you manage to catch the whole clump, and turn it into harmless ash. And they say the Queen's Wing doesn't do anything, pfft.
You'll prove them you're just as worthwhile as any of the fighting wings. Well done! +1 Flame Length

She didn't begrudge her position lower in the skies - never had - but it was nice to actually flame some Thread to show for it. Sure, it was a nice idea to think those above could get it all, but.....odds were, that wasn't the case and it validated their position to more than just waiting for dragons to fall.

Thread! As you dive towards it, you find yourself missing the Thread completely! It tangles and writhes onto your dragon's front leg and shoulder! Shaffit all! Moderate Damage! -5 HP

Sura was quick to send Esurienth between, but not before the tangle had writhed into her flesh and left her, if only temporarily, marked. Cursing internally, she turned her attention up above them again. She had to do better to keep them all safer.

This tangle of Thread had almost been too far away. Almost. But Sorentia burned it to ash with her flamethrower anyway. They were helping no matter what people thought. Her thoughts were a little vicious for her, but the fight was getting to her.

Even though she was sure she was helping, Sorentia was convinced that she could be doing more. It was hard to be waiting while knowing everyone above was in so much danger. Sorentia fidgeted a little as she was frustrated. It was annoying to have to wait, but that was a good thing too. People weren't falling left and right at least?

Pemli kept her eyes open, so she noticed a stray strand of Thread out of the corner of her eye. She turned in her seat and aimed her flamethrower. Then she took the Thread down, reducing it to ash. She didn't want anyone to suffer on the ground.

That was a beautiful move, Mine,Ningesth assured her rider.

Queen's Wing (Hour 1/Round 2)
1) 47. 46-50.

2) 93. 93-97. Your dragon is starting to feel tired. This particular fight is wearing them down. A strong gust of winds tries to throw them out of their position. Roll a D4 to see what happens!
3- Failure! Your dragon is blown out of formation. They struggle and flap against the wind, and only are able to recover when the wind dies down, feeling more exhausted than before. Worse, you think they may have pulled a muscles in their wing arm! Best watch it. [Light Damage -1 HP ]

3) 53. 51-55. You keep looking up, but nothing seems to be heading your way. Your neck is starting to object, but it doesn't matter. You must be ever vigilant, or so the saying goes. The Queen's Wing is an important position, but it sure can be boring... Part of you wishes you could be higher up, where all the action is. Part of you is grateful you're safer down here.

You know your thoughts shouldn't wander or stray.... but you look away for a moment, stretching your neck, and resettling yourself on your dragons back. Unfortunately, things happen quickly. Your dragon lets out a shriek of pain as you're hit with Thread! You hadn't seen it fall from behind, too far back from where your dragon could see. Roll a D4 for Damage!
1- It's a nasty tangle that gets over you and your dragon! Though they pop Between, it's caught part of their wingsail, and may have burrowed into their sensitive stomach and side. Better hope the cold of Between gets all of it! Major damage -10 HP

She directed Ningesth in that direction, feeling her gold wheel just right to get them close to it. Once in position, she aimed her flamethrower and fired. She smiled as she managed to get the whole clump and reduce it to ash.

Excellent, Mine! If anyone had any doubts on the worth of queen riders, this should shut them up,Ningesth crowed.

Pemli was keeping watch for anything else that they might need to take care of, despite the protest of her neck of all the head turning. However, she had already let a few threads slip past this Fall, she wasn't about to let her gaurd down. Thankfully, it was quiet for now, though she knew Ningesth was not pleased with it.

I cannot help it, it gets boring down here sometimes. I know, it means the wings above are doing what needs to be done,Ningesth sighed.

I will let them know, Mine. Hey, be careful!Ningesth replied to her rider, then sent to the pair in trouble.

Pemli was on the lookout for any Thread, wanting to make sure none slipped passed them. That is when she noticed the clump of Thread just a little bit from where they were. She made sure Ningesth noticed it, then got her flamethrower ready. She felt her gold wheel in the air, before flying towards it. Once they were in range, she used her flamethrower to turn it into ash.

Beautiful, Mine. See, you know what you are doing,Ningesth said with pride.

Pemli thought she was doing better, she hadn't had a miss in awhile. However, she noticed a tangle of Thread had slipped passed the upper wings. She had Ningesth go after it, while she got her flamethrower ready again. As they got closer, she shot fire out of her flamethrower, but somehow missed her mark. She groaned in horror as she watched the Thread get too far from them. She felt horrible, she pictured the plants, animals, or people that could be affected.

It will be okay, we will let the ground crews know,Ningesth tried to soothe, but she knew Pemli would be kicking herself for awhile.
