Sentama Lin I want to buy a bagpipe... someday... *is searching on eBay* God I hate bagpipes. xp Every damn parade here... It sounds like cat torture, although it does remind me of home. I hear you have to blow really, insanely hard to play them. x_X

I'm from Nova Scotia; I've seen more kilts than I ever wanted to. Usually worn by a bunch of old men.

I know what that's like. I used to live across the road form a Legion, they used to practice for HOURS at end. Like 7 hours of nothing but bagpipes and drums.
Right now GRM and I are just down the road form one and they practice really close by but not as often.

I'm just a fan of wind instruments - particularly the bagpipe, recorders, and any type of wooden flute. Plus I like blowing.

I never like them alone or just with drums. There are a few songs I have that mix bagpipes with other instruments, like fiddle, and that's not so bad. Sentama Lin I'm just a fan of wind instruments - particularly the bagpipe, recorders, and any type of wooden flute. Plus I like blowing. *Wills himself not to comment* lol PS: Hoshit, it's my home province's premier, stepdancing. x3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-vvG87DPZc&feature=related

If a Rock Band pulled out an awesome Bagpipe solo in the middle of a riff I would love them forever just because they were daring enough to try it.

That kid's pretty good, Tae. Too bad the audio quality of the recording was so poor. I know it was an '85 recording, but the scratchiness drove me wild in a bad way.
I dunno... A bagpipe in my rock/metal music would have to have some purpose. I'm very finicky with instruments sometimes, but a bagpipe would work with some folk metal genres. :3

Oh gawd... the melodic elements used in the fiddle, along with the style, just makes me gasm... Even though the recording is pretty bad, it feels rough, crazy, and has that energetic jig-folky sound. I like it Tae.

I love that song. x3 The fiddler is gay, too.
I'm really glad you like it! Even the traditional version of the song is...frenetic. Devil's Dream & Mason's Apron was one of my favourite songs to dance to. I can't imagine trying to play it on the fiddle, though.

It sounds really fun to dance to, though the dancing sounds fast and complicated to learn. But maybe it's just fast. Not sure. It's the tumultuousness of it that gets to me though, but I suppose that the frenzied pace and roughness only fits the title more.
I hadn't realized that fiddlers bow with their left hand and finger with their right hand. *goes and looks up*
