"Well...to make a long story short...I was in an accident with a boat..." He winced at the memory. It was after his parents had sailed off and didn't return. Joey had meant to go find them. Fate had other ideas and smashed his boat into another, larger vessel. It traumatized Joey and moved him deeper into his depression.

 Joshua was quiet for a moment, thinking. He trotted through the halls, only halfway paying attention to Rose. He knew where he was going. "If he's not there, the next place to check would be the local fish tank. From there, we'd move on to the individual tanks." Joshua raised his eyes to the roof as he spoke, mentally tracing the route. Normally, he would have said the individual tanks first, this in this order there was no doubling back and thus saved time.
"After that, we'll just have to search every tank we find." He shrugged his shoulders. Unfortunately, watching the roof was good way to trip on something. And trip the teen did.

"Yea. It was during a boat on boat collision. The motor-boat's propellers barely missed cutting my leg off, but left me with this scar. I guess that's why I never use any kind of vessel with a motor on it..." It was true, Joey never went on any kind of boat that held a motor on it. He saw them as detrimental to the environment...that and other things...

"O.... i see..." Violet said. she never thought a human would have the same acident as her. but still, they are the ones who made it in the first place.

Joey nodded. "Yea..." He looked at her scar. "It is a good idea to distrust all humans. Though there are a few select few, most will only want to use someone of your race to make money and become famous...others will want to use you to see how you work. It...is a horrible thing to do, but its true. It is a rarity to find a human like Joshua or me who are truly kind to the inhabitants of the sea..." He sighed and shook his head. "Humans...most are despicable..."

Joey grinned and managed a successful bow this time. "Well, I guess I am one." He put his hands on his hips. "Now, you can't say that I'm that bad. You are in shallow water and I have yet to do anything to harm you. Now, am I really that bad?"

Joey sighed. There was just no way to get through this mermaid's thick scull...He just shrugged. "OK, but I personally don't try to be mean to people. Take it as you will. Plus, I'm at most a foot away from you...what would you normally do to someone who was this close?"

"i don't know..." Violet said. "I would probably swim back to deeper waters....." She said as she felt a litle uncomfortable, exspecialy when she remembered how close she was, and talking to... a human.

Joey, for some reason, doubted that. He shrugged. "Well, that would be a good idea in shallow water...yet what interests me is why you stay here, then. A human is in the same waters as you and you are still here.

Narcis's hand shot out and caught the back of Joshua's collar almost instinctively, hauling the boy back to his feet before he had the chance to fall. "Watch yourself," he muttered, sounding embarrassed to be caught caring as he let go of the shirt. "We can't afford to be heard. There are bound to be others here."
Narcis! Is that you? Turn! Turn now!
Narcis halted, startled. "I don't know where you're going," he said, looking at Joshua, "but if Nezik is hearing us, and he thinks he is, he says we're to turn here." He nodded at the door a little down and to their left.

"Why do you keep pestering me?!" Violet said. she felt realy uncomfortable being here with him, and she was ready to swim away at any second. "Do you want me to leave, because I'd be glad to!"
