Joey blinked and his eyes fell. "Sorry...If you really feel the need to leave...then do so...nobody is keeping you here..." He mumbled, no longer feeling as social as he did a few minutes ago. He wasn't going to be able to do it...oh well, it was better that she didn't want to be near the shore anyways. Joey avoided eye-contact, feeling bad about how he was pressuring her.

Violet paused for a minuite before replying. "It's ok....." she muttered. "I'm just not used to being his close to a human, and I feel kinda.... edgy... and realy uncomfortable..." Violet said as she swam back a little.

Joey nodded. "That's a normal feeling...well, for me it is...doing something that I don't normally do...its a weird feeling." He said quietly. He blinked as his stomach growled. He blushed slightly and looked at the water.

Joshua flushed in embarrassment. "Thanks." He muttered. The teen frowned, looking to the door Narcis was pointing. "You sure? Never mind. I trust you know what you're talking about." He gave himself a quick shake then headed down the hall towards the door. At the door, he paused to listen for voices. All he could hear was the soft gurgle of oxidation machines. "I think we're clear." He whispered. Joshua slowly turned the handle of the door, caution really kicking in now. He opened the door slightly and slipped inside, making as little noise as possible.

Narcis went past him, confident that if anyone were in there, Nezik would have warned them. At first, the room seemed empty - it was too dark to see into the corners. He opened his mouth, but was interrupted by a flurry of wild excitement from a corner of the room.
Narcis! NarcisNarcisI'mherelooklookrighthere!
Narcis looked to the corner, where a lot of splashing was suddenly occurring. "A hidden tank?" he murmured, surprised. He paused and looked back to the others. "Stay back," he said quietly. "Humans have cameras to protect what they have, don't they? If they have one on Nezik, it's best if I'm the only one on camera - they'll never see me again, but the rest of you don't have that luxury."
He went towards the tank, trusting Nezik to guide him.

Joshua nodded, moving to stay in the shadows. "Good idea." He watched, ready to help should the need arise. His eyes had adjusted to the dark and he could now see fairly well. Plus there was a faint beam coming from the hall lights. The teen slipped the pack off his shoulders. He set it on the ground and opened the top. They would need to move quickly once they got Nezik. There was a chance that there would be alarms as well as camera. They needed to get Nezik into the bag and get out of here. Fast.

Narcis climbed the side of the tank until his feet hit slippery glass - he hung off the top of the tank, using his arms for balance. Nezik promptly swam to the top to meet him. The boy's eyes were full of worry. Narcis, you feel so tired, he said uncertainly.
"I'm all right," Narcis muttered. "Grab my wrist; I need to haul you out."
Nezik went one better - not only did he take Narcis's wrist, he tugged himself up until he was holding on to Narcis's upper arm, making it less likely that they would knock over the whole tank when Narcis pulled them out. "Hold on," Narcis said simply, then let go of the tank and dropped, dragging Nezik out with him. The tank tilted alarmingly, then slowly resettled into place.
Nezik immediately began to shake upon being pulled from the water, to Narcis's quiet but evident distress. He dumped the merman into the bag that Joshua held open and closed it. As he swung it up onto his back, he felt Nezik shifting around to make himself a little less cramped, which was reassuring.
"Let's go," he grated, looking at the others.

Joshua held his breath, watching Narcis pull the young merman out. He sighed in relief as it went smoothly. "Let's go. I don't hear any alarms, but some are silent. I want to get out of here as fast as possible." He turned and headed out the door. Back in the hallway, he trotted back the way they had come. 'Please. Please let this work.' This was the crucial stage. They had a very short time frame to get Nezik back into the water. Joshua was conscious of every second that ticked by.

Narcis was painfully aware of every muscle in his body, because all of them were now straining with the effort to keep to human shape. Ten minutes, fifteen...he didn't even know if he could last that long, not if he was going to push this human form to the maximum as he would have to to get out of town in less than fifteen minutes. I have to, he thought desperately. I have to.
He was moving as fast as he could possibly go, but still felt it wasn't enough - it certainly wasn't as fast as he'd been going when he was still fresh. Farther. Faster. It can't end here.
Struggling to keep up with Joshua and morbidly aware that his power was starting to give out, Narcis kept moving.

Joshua suddenly realized that Narcis wasn't keeping up so well. 'Is he tired already? Is taking a human form that tiring?' It was the only explanation he could think of. "Narcis. Give me the pack. I can take Nezik." If they couldn't move fast, it increased their chances of getting caught. 'Can he make it to the cliffs?' Joshua was now worried for both the siren and the young merman. Neither of them seemed to be doing overly well.

"If alarms go off or they realize someone was here, I'll try to draw the attention away, so you guys can get out of here." Rose offered, softly. She had noticed Narcis tiring, but had kept her distance, still feeling the sting of his rudeness earlier. "I'm beginning to think sea creatures don't like me. They loved Mom, but not me. Lucian only likes me because of the jewelry. Joshua seems to wish I would go away, too...... After this, guess I'm back to same ole village life......" she brooded, silently.

((OOC: Whut? When was Narcis rude to Rose? *confusedface*))
Narcis shook his head. "No," he rasped. "I will take the boy. It is just..." He fell silent for a moment or two, then said softly, "I am out of practice. I rarely feel the...the need to take...a human shape." They were out of the building now, on the street.
Before anyone could object, he grated flatly, "Every minute we spend arguing is one we don't spend moving. I will take Nezik to the cliffs. I have promised Sorry. Now. Let's go."
He had felt Nezik fall still, which increased his tension - which, in turn, heightened his speed, which exhausted him faster. All the same, he thought, he would make it. As he'd said, he had promised Katalina.

"Alright." Joshua agreed reluctantly. He only agreed because time was running out. Soon, they were out of the aquarium and in the streets. "This way. I can lead us through the less used streets. Lowers the chances of being seen." The teen took off through the streets, heading in the direction of the cliffs. 'Please. Let them both be okay, Narcis and Nezik.' As much as he wasn't overly fond of the siren, there was no way Joshua would wish harm to him or his kin.

Narcis followed him, eyes locked firmly on Joshua's feet. He could only hope that Joshua would not stop - if Narcis had to stop while Joshua got his bearings, he had the idea that he would not be able to start again. He had some reserves of energy left, but knew he'd be running off sheer willpower before they even got out of town.
He considered jostling the bag he carried deliberately to see if Nezik would respond - the boy had fallen alarmingly silent - but decided against it. It would take energy that, quite frankly, he could not spare.
His steps faltered slightly, but only for a moment before he shook his head and locked his gaze on Joshua's feet again. All he had to do was follow now - ten minutes. Ten minutes and he could be safely back in the water, with Nezik. Where Sorry was waiting.
