Van chuckled as he watched Larai crawl back under the bed. "Need anything else under there?" he asked as he looked under the bed.

 

[M3Gnificent]

"Well..uhm..I have been rather hungry. May I please have something to eat?" Larai asked.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"That's right, our little search and rescue happened before we could eat." Van said with a chuckle before stopping suddenly and running to the kitchen, being greeted by a pan full of smoke and burned food.

 

[M3Gnificent]

Mala sat beside the bed, in case Larai had anything further to say. Which, of course, she did not.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Hope you can wait a little longer for dinner," Van called in between coughing while he tossed his burnt creation. "because it looks like I'll be starting from scratch."

 

[M3Gnificent]

Mala was snickering as she muttured to Larai, "Looks like daddy forgot to take the food off of the pan before he left. Not that I blaim him~"

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

While Van set to work making more dinner, Kai wandered back into his room where Mala was. "So mom, you said I was gonna get a reward for helping take down that demon guy...right?" he said with that innocent smile kids used when hinting not so subtly.

 

[M3Gnificent]

"Yes I did. What is it you want, sweetie?" Mala asked, grinning broadly at her son. She was certainly proud of Kai for what he pulled earlier.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Weeelllllll.......Can I get my bike back??" Kai asked, putting on the sparkling eyes of innocence.

 

[M3Gnificent]

Mala nodded. "That's a given! I was thinking you wanted something else as well. But if you don't..."

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"No! Wait! I take that back! What is it? What is it?? What is it?!" Kai asked anxiously.

 

[M3Gnificent]

"I was thinking of buying you anything you wanted within reasonable limits. You'd get to choose one reward so long as it isn't extremely expensive or living or otherwise inappropriate."

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Aw, no pet?" Kai said in disappointment. Part of him really wanted a dog.

 

[M3Gnificent]

"Would you really want to feed it every day, clean up it's poop, and care for it through thick and thin? Raising an animal is kind of like raising a child, except for the fact that it never goes beyond that pre-talking toddler stage." Mala asked, raising an eyebrow.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

Kai seemed to weigh the work vs joy that would come from a pet in his mind for a while before sighing. "I guess not..."
