 "I'll take care of Narcis. Don't worry, Lucian and I can handle it. We need to get you into the water first." Joshua reassured the young merman, ignoring what he assumed was a sting of curses from Katalina. Taking Nezik's arm, the teen stood and pulled the merman over to the edge. "If your tail gets scratched, I'm sorry." He stood at the edge of the cliff for a moment. 'Incoming!' He gave a final warning then pushed Nezik off. He watched anxiously as the merman fell. 'Please don't let him hit the side.' He pleaded silently.

As soon as Nezik went tumbling down, however, instinct seemed to take over. His upper body shaped itself into a perfect diving form and he hit the water with hardly a splash. When he came up again, he waved cheekily at Joshua. "No scratches!" he called.
Katalina surfaced next to him. Her eyes lifted to Joshua even as she welcomed Nezik's ecstatic hug. Thank you, she thought. Thank you. We'll meet you at the cove, okay?
Narcis looked up when Joshua pushed Nezik over the cliff. A weary smile formed on the Siren's lips. No matter what happened now, the boy was safe. Sorry would look after him from here. Letting his head drop again, Narcis remained silent.

Joshua sighed in relief as Nezik surfaced from his dive. "Good to know!" He called back. 'Alright. Get going. We'll see you there.' He turned back to to siren, still slumped on the ground. Coming over, he knelt down. He held out one hand, in offer. "Narcis? Will you let me help you?" The teen didn't want to irritate Narcis, so he figured he would as first. 'Not that he really has any choice.' Joshua reflected to himself. The siren looked too tired to do anything without help right now.

Katalina took Nezik's wrist quite firmly and gave him a little tug. Then she began the trip back to the cove, going slightly slower to account for Nezik's recent, harrowing journey. They had to be back before Narcis, but aside from that, they could go slowly if they wanted to.
The Siren looked up at Joshua. His laugh was slow and rather raspy. "Doesn't look like I have a great deal of choice, does it?" he mused aloud. "Well then. Yes, Joshua. I will let you, if you wish to." Holding his human shape was taking almost all his concentration, but he figured he wouldn't have to do much more after this. Joshua would send him over the cliff as he had done for Nezik, and that would be that.
They'd be done.

Joshua was glad when the siren didn't fight. 'Though he still might. He doesn't realize he isn't going over the cliff.' He winced at the thought of telling Narcis. Still, he pulled the siren to his feet. Joshua pulled Narcis's arm over his shoulder while his own went around the siren's waist. This way he could take most of the weight and support Narcis. "Um...Narcis? We need to walk. Katalina and Nezik don't think you can make it the water." Joshua braced himself, unsure of what the reaction to this news would be.

((We're still at the cliffs. The only thing that happened is Nezik went over the edge and now he & Katalina are gone.))

Narcis turned his head away fractionally. Whatever reaction Joshua might have been expecting, Narcis did not give it. He was too busy giving his own current physical state a critical examination.
With a low sigh, he shook his head. "And they are probably right," he murmured. His exhaustion had lent him an unusual docility and he had no urge to argue the point - mostly because he couldn't win it. The simple fact was, they were right. "Sorry is always telling me I push too hard. Very well. How much farther are we to go?"
He could feel Katalina trying to get through and speak to him, but it was as though someone had lowered a curtain between them. He could feel her voice in a distant sort of way, but he couldn't actually hear her, much less respond. Smiling a little, he thought, Just wait, Sorry. You can yell at me once we're back.

Joshua stared at Narcis in shock. 'Wow...He must be REALLY tired.' It was actually kind of scary how quiet and obedient the siren had become. Still, that just meant they needed to get him back to the cove as fast as they could. "We're just going back to the cove. So not that far." That said, the teen began hesitantly leading Narcis away. Joshua called over his shoulder to Lucian. "You coming as well?" He prayed the the dragon would say yes.

Rose stood back from the others. "Is there anything I can do to help?" she spoke up, softly. She moved silently over to the others, shivering slightly. A slight breeze was blowing up on the cliffs and she was only wearing a bikini, since she had been swimming when she had saw the boat.

Narcis was moving as fast as he dared, but still felt he wasn't going as quickly as he had to. For some odd reason, the sense of urgency had only heightened when Nezik had gone over the edge. It took him several steps, though, to realize why.
"We are being followed." His voice was quiet, patient, almost resigned. "They have found our trail." They would not make it to the cove, not with humans following them. They couldn't go back to the cove where Sorry and Nezik were waiting. The two would be in danger there, and he couldn't reach them.

Joshua stopped, shocked by the siren's words. Then he let out a string of curses that would have put a sailor to shame. Finished cursing, the teen sighed. "What are we going to do then? We can't lead them to the others. That would cause serious issues." Joshua too, kept his voice low. He wans't sure how close the pursuers were. It better to not chance being overheard.

"There is time to make them lose you," said Narcis quietly. "But only if we run. Well, if you run." He shrugged. "There is plenty of time if you move quickly." Trailing off, he seemed to think for a few minutes.
"You can speak to Sorry, can you not? Tell her not to go back to where she was going. Tell her to take Nezik and hide - perhaps with her friend Kra," he said slowly, ponderously. "Then you can take the girl and the dragon back to the cove."
His thoughts were all over the place, belying his slow speech. "And then..." He frowned. "Yes, that would be best," he finished.
