On a random note. Why do Blackberry's and computers make weird sounds when the Blackberry is getting/reciving signals?

The computer makes a ... rapid beeping kind of sound when the blackberry recives or gives out signals. As in Wifi, calls, texting. I don't think I've ever heard another cell do that either.
How else can I explain it...
