Meh movie versions can just get annoying at times... especially when you are forced to watch them *twitches*

Ahem. Movie musicals CAN be well done, you know... (aretoo prefers live, but movies can be taken home much more easily. And movie casts don't tend to eat one out of house and home. [Not to mention the interpersonal dramas amongst cast members...] rolleyes )

I'll grant Phantom of the Opera and The Producers, but not the others mentioned.
I really do like stage musicals (Brigadoon was my first) but they always seem to lose something when taken to film. It's disappointing.

7 Brides for 7 Brothers, Sound of Music, and South Pacific were all well-done, and were able to use filming on location to great effect... smile
I do know what you mean, though, Tsuji. I believe the spontaneity is what you're missing. biggrin

Meh I've never been a huge fan of musicals to begin with, I usually end up walking away by the middle of the movie version so I don't think I'd make it through the entire stage musical... I have too short of an attention span

To be honest, if they held true with what they usually do when casting short male roles, Ed would probably be played by a woman. smile
And to be honest, RHPS is HORRIBLE. It's just awesome in its horribility... mrgreen
