Sylfie
The young goldrider was hardly surprised by the rejection; she was, after all, just Sylfie, whereas Z'tir was a wingleader and Zelaya's father. Of course she would stay with him. And she was very nice about it, which was...nice. She swallowed the lump in her throat, nodded, "I'll s-see you after, then. Or...sometime." With such a high-ranking parent, there were probably much better and more interesting people for her to be around. She nodded again, a little more firmly this time, and choked out another, "Wingleader."
And took her leave, making her way carefully away so that she didn't look to be in as much of a rush as she was. She just...needed away. In spite of her words, she didn't make a beeline for Hesperith, but meandered aimlessly in that general direction and tried not to bump into anyone on the way. Which was made a little tricky by the fact that she was walking with her eyes to the ground.

Akaris
The green continued to stare at them for an uncomfortably long time before it snorted - snotted?! - on Rylyrr, only to make an unexpected movement that caused Akaris to flinch, but no harm followed. Only the return of her hat, with a nudge, and...a pronouncement that she was weak, someone the hatchling wouldn't want. She received this - and the advice, such as it was, that followed - as well as her hat, mutely. And then, once the green had gone, she curled her hands into the fabric of Rylyrr's robe and buried her face against him (mooshing her poor hat a bit in the process), muffling her answer of, "Well she didn't have to be mean."
And now that the hatchling had gone, she thought resentfully that it was just as well the green didn't want someone like her, because she didn't want a dragon like it! She liked her silly, sandy, squashed hat, and that green should mind its own business.

[ renose - HR ]
There was still a lot of movement and another...hatching, perhaps? Renose had been watching the eggs intently as the two greens moved around, both of them clearly uninterested in him. Which was fine, they had better things to do than watch him melt under the southern sun, so that was good. Perhaps the first Impression wouldn't be too far off now? If it stayed calm and quiet he'd appreciate it, though maybe a little action wouldn't be too bad.
Running in this heat though? Why not just ask the candidates to catch themselves on fire? Renose had never heard of anyone catching on fire but that didn't mean it'd never happened before. He doubted it could happen now but it was so hot and there were two baby dragons and - a gold. Was that a Gold snout coming out from an egg? The first sign of a metallic, and it was a future Queen.
"Fab." His comment was....uncertain, for sure. Golds really didn't hold his excitement, considering he was....not its type in the least. Still interesting though, to see which girls would fall over themselves in an effort to get to it. Certainly a Gold on the sands would persuade many of the higher ups to forgive and forget the location and carelessness of the original goldrider, seeing as ~fancy~ and ~titles~ and he was sure he was going somewhere with this thought. Whatever.

[ soui - western ]
She'd been slowly creeping closer to the fringes of the watching crowd, eager to see what was going on. There had been an audible gasp as the latest egg hatched, and she frowned at her inability to see what happened. Whatever it was didn't involve blood, as there were no shrieks nor people running their way, and that suited the teen just fine. Still, she wanted to see what was going on. It would be a shame to go through her first hatching (viewing) unable to witness all of it (while not working), and so she looked again at her cousin and the other bronzerider.
Swinging her gaze over and up, she started towards the overly familiar and very beloved smaller bronze of her cousin. "Yudu, help me up for a moment? I'd like to see what's going on while it still seems quiet. IF that's okay with you, of course." Her question about permission went straight to the dragon, completely bypassing her cousin - as usual.

Jagmund
The other Candidate fell right over, and his pants were visibly slipping off, though luckily nothing Jagmund didn't want to see was visible. He was about to snap at the boy for getting in his way when two things happened.
First, he paused when he noticed that the Candidate almost looked like him, if he was smaller and younger. He had to double check in his mind to confirm that he wasn't actually a Western Candidate. Nope, a stranger. Heh, wouldn't that have been weird, though? Perhaps a relative... he had been left in the creche with no knowledge of his parents, after all.
Second, the friendly green came bounding right up to the boy as he was apologizing and quickly tugging his pants back into their proper position. jagmund wasn't quite sure whether he was babbling to her or him, so he kind of just stood there for a moment, then stuck out his hand experimentally.
"Um, name's Jagmund. You are...?"
Kamila and Cituvath
Cituvath suddenly let out a sound of mirth.
"What is it?"
One of ours walked into another and made him fall, she replied, eyes swirling blue and green.
"Of course, you'd find delight in that..."

————Zelaya———— The slight widening of Zelaya's eyes was not imperceptible, but also was not blatant. Permission to go with her friend...Out of the corner of her eye, she tracked Sylfie's progress across the beach. Her head was down, her pace...not quite hurried. Alone.
But then, in the corner of her other eye, Z'tir. How many moments had they spent together? How much time had his busy schedule allotted him to spend with her? She barely knew him, and yet...he'd been kind, in the end. Her hands in her lap clenched, just a moment, then relaxed. "That's alright," She ventured after a moment.
"Thank you...father...but my place is right here."
And when her eyes found the rippling crowd of candidates the next time, they did not seem quite so conflicted, lifted of some burden or other.
————Oseathiol———— With his book clenched nearly to his chest (and quill half-bent as he still struggled to write even so!) Oseathiol was just, simply entranced by all that was happening. Babies here, cracking eggs there, he'd seen the little golden snout, nostrils flaring on that last attempt to break free! The man was as starry-eyed as Pern's night sky.
Which is probably why he didn't notice the young woman, similarly distracted, wandering aimlessly across the beach. "Just wonderful, look at them all!" He muttered under his breath...and then froze, just in time to stop a collision. "O-oh! Oh my! I'm, I'm so terribly sorry!" He babbled, immediately taking a step back, and ducking into an awkward, off-balance (thank you, sand!) bow. "I'm afraid I was...well, a bit distracted there." His smile was genuine, and rather self-deprecating. He'd never been the least clumsy fellow. Or the best with social interaction. Or women. His fingers drummed along the back of the book he'd clapped shut a moment before, eyes flicking between Sylfie and the eggs. She wasn't in robes...did that mean she was a rider?
Oh Faranth. Who'd he gone and tripped over this time?!
Meepfur Lol HOPE YOU DON'T MIND ME HARASSING YOU MORE!

The Pink Striped Green was about to ignore Beligian completely when the man went flying, kicking up a flare of sand that landed on her. Whirling around, her wings flared, and she gave an irritable RAWK at both Beligian and Jagmund -- only to stop and see her sister cozying up to one of the fools.
With a loud bugle -- or was it a shriek? -- the green launched herself at the Solid Pink Green, wings spread, fully intending to land a blow...
----
The Green Zig-Zag Egg Almost. There. Another push, another shove, another wobble.... Soon. SOON!
----
Quietly, without much fanfare or excitement, the Yellow Egg broke in two, leaving a handsome blue dragon flopped in the beach sand. It quickly, almost nervously, righted itself, and looked quietly around at all the faces. It did not move, it simply sat, watching, waiting.
