With everything going on in front off them on the Sands, Serfie was quiet ready when Dhawsn got protective and pulled her out of the way, she didn't even fight it or even TRY to argue she could look after herself, she had zero intention of being mauled by a dragonet. She didn't greet the girl she had been moved near like Dhawsn did though, she was too shocked at the death on the Sands, would it be two? .. her stomach dropped and he felt physically sick.

SHE MOVIN lol

~~~~~~~~~~
Farellen couldn't keep up with the drama, he wisely moved out of the way when a dragonet charged among them, a lump formed in his throat when a couple of candidates got torn up, epsecially when it was clear one of them was now dead. He hoped that there wasn't going to be a repeat of the hatching at High Reaches where the baby betweened because her rider was killed.
~~~~~~~~~~

Helane cried when the candidate died, tears trickled down her face when the body was covered up and moved offf the sands while another was being worked on. She also kept out of the way of the aggressivee babies though, it was get out of the way or get interfere and get hurt, she decided the former was wisest, even as she got choked up.

~~~~~~~~~~
Bekah headed out with the other healers, she may only be an apprentice but there was a lot she could do in an emergency, She hadn't been able to help save one of the candidates and she sent a silent prayer to Faranth to guide the poor boy along his way, perhaps there was another life beyond this where he would find his dragon among the babies between that had gone because they hadn't been able to find Theirs on the sands. She wasn't really spiritual but it never hurt to do something of the sort for the dead.
"Any candidate still bleeding please go over to the healer tables, there's help for you there to patch you up and send you back. You're no good to your dragon if you're bleeding out on the Sands" she said loudly, cautious of the hatchlings milling about. She hesitated for a moment before moving to try and help the worst hurt, which appeared to be Rykin. She hurried to the Journeyman healer's side "let me help you Healer" she said, moving to take some of the weight of the candidate from the other healer, it would be quicker to get him off the sands. She would continue care for Rykin if the other healer had to go help the others on the sands.
Rio
Rasthell and Nuamia might not have needed any saving, but it made Rio feel better to have them near, as though having hands on them would help to keep them all safe.  Not that there was any such thing as safe, not with so many unbonded dragonets on the Sands...especially the green that Paw Print had called out of her egg, and the brown that burst from the Nanner Egg to unleash its wrath on candidates that happened too close while trying to keep away from the former.  One boy was shaken violently, and Rio flinched away.
Please, please don't let anyone die...he couldn't see the ultimate outcome of the maulings from where he stood, and clung to hope and wishful thoughts. "Fine," he answered Rasthell, his voice tight. "But I'm afraid we're only just getting started..."
One of the latest greens to break shell looked ready and willing to stop her sister, but another was clearly pissed.
Astriana (Western Candidate, Her)
Astriana heard Marinel speak about them catching them off guard, knowing that babies could hatch whenever they felt like it. She was used to dealing with that with firelizards, but the same could be applied to dragons. Not only that, it wasn't like they could see what time it was from inside their shells, so they came when they were ready. As she was thinking about that, she felt a gentle touch from a certain dragon that she knew. Wait...that felt too close to be where it normally would be coming from, she reasoned, her eyes flicking to the stands briefly. Just as she thought, Khamaith's form was obvious to the young woman..she just hoped her and Ezyzu were taking it easy. She sent loving thoughts back to the gold and some slight concern, hoping she would pick up on it.
Her attention was drawn back to what was happening on the sands, hearing the sounds of egg movement. Looking around, she spotted the mint chocolate chip egg now rocking like its siblings. With three eggs rocking now, she wondered which would be the first to break out of their shell? She also felt Teth's excitement, she could imagine he was as eager as anyone to greet his children. Of course, the sound of cracking soon entered her hearing, coming from the green olive again, but it was brown paw print that emerged first. Out of that egg came a very angry looking green, Astri wondered what had angered it. Of course, she knew it could be anything, she certainly knew how it was to get upset over something only she knew about.
As she tried to figure it out, she caught the green olive egg finally cracking and revealing..twins. And it seemed not just any twins, but twin golds! Well, she knew twins were possible for dragons, but she had never seen twin golds before. She could imagine how cramped the two might have been, even if that had been one of the bigger eggs. It seemed the appearance of her sisters had upset pawprint though, Astri noted, as she saw the green breaking into a couple more of the eggs. Some worry came into her eyes when she noticed one of those was Daisy, that she had gotten to touch. Out came a little green and her heart went out to her, though she did look like she was okay. Gay flag revealed a second pair of twins, this time blue and green for the group to see. She had heard of one pair of twins before, but two..she hadn't expected that. Though, she was pleased, being a twin herself that this clutch seemed to have some twin pairs. Would they be as connected as human twins were, she imagined they would be.
Astri didn't show any emotion on her face, but she felt some worry as she saw the tension between the pawprint green and her golden sisters. One seemed to be checking on their siblings again, good. The other though, seemed to get into it with her green sister, even going so far as to hit her. She understood anger and hitting another, but she didn't think the green deserved that. And it seemed to make it worse, as the green leapt at her sister, which caused the blonde to shake her head. It was one thing to defend one self, but shouldn't siblings be looking out for each other? She heard Daisy's cry, but it seemed the little green would wait. The blue gay flag baby seemed upset too, staying close to his sister. Oh, she wished she could let them know it would be okay, she sent what happy thoughts as she could their way. The battling gold and green continued on, could they not see they were upsetting their siblings? It seemed more eggs began to shake then, were they spurred on by the fight, she wondered. Well, for now, none had come out, but Daisy was coming this way.
You are doing fine, little one,Astri thought to Daisy softly, not wanting to startle her though. Hopefully, the little one would find her's, before anything too bad happened. Astri remembered Spooky clutch, she knew how things could go from bad to worse in the blink of an eye. Then it seemed Funfetti wanted to join their siblings, as a blue came out and made his way over to his sisters. She hoped he would be careful, knowing how violent fights could be, after all. Her attention was brought back to the squabbling siblings, as it seemed the green had stopped moving. No, the little gold didn't use the command on her..did she? That was certainly not fair and her hands clenched at her sides. Just because you were born with a certain expectation, didn't mean you didn't have to earn your rank. Thankfully, her anger was brought back under control as she focused on the other gold coming to walk with green daisy baby. Seeing the sight filled her with a sense of happiness, it was a precious sight that she couldn't deny.
Astriana found herself feeling bad for her thoughts about the bolder gold when she heard the cheep from her. She mentally kicked herself, reminding herself they were babies, they were just reacting the way they felt was right. It seemed the calm gold was being called by her twin, who seemed unsure of what to do. She pictured how conflicted she would be if her own twin needed her, but she didn't want to leave her youngest brother. It seemed the little green was assuring her sister, before the calmer gold headed over to her twin. She knew the feeling of wanting to help her twin and she hoped cooler heads would prevail. As Teth reached out to all of them, she could tell the brown father was worrying about all this.
Her attention was brought back to the eggs once more, as the ace flag egg broke open to reveal...a third set of twins?! This time a brown and a bronze, one of which she knew wouldn't give her a glance. Granted, she didn't think the golds would either, she couldn't picture herself as someone a gold would be interested in..well, other than as a friend. Her twin rode a green, she figured she would ride a blue or a green herself. When mint chocolate chip seemed to shake again, she was sure she heard a break and saw a foot, but couldn't tell a color as it ducked back into the shell. Then if she thought the fight between the green and golds was done, blue and purple paint egg broke open to reveal another green. This one made straight for the queens, the calmer one putting up her wing to shield her sister. The admiration for the peaceful seeming queen rose, she knew it was important to protect their twin. Though, it seemed this did not deter the pair of greens.
It seemed the anger was not limited to the golds though, as paw print egg went and hit one of the other candidates. She briefly wondered what the other had thought, shaking her head softly. Then it was back to gold against green, she wasn't sure what to think of all this. No, just because a gold was a gold, that didn't mean they could just have their way. They had to prove themselves, just like any other dragon, especially here in Western, where you had to work for your rank. However, as much as she believed in fighting for what is right, even against those bigger than you..were the greens really in the right either? It was definitely a dilemma for the woman's mind, despite it only showing in her eyes. And it seemed Funfetti was joining his sisters, would he actually fight against his golden sisters?
It seemed some more of the baby dragons were ready to come out, as a bronze seemed to hatch without any fanfare from blue spotted, but he looked deep in thought. Sunset also opened, this time with another green, who worked on joining her siblings over near the candidates.
"Yes, I see, Marinel...three sets of twins,"she spoke, knowing that was what he was referring to. Her attention did not leave the eggs, though, as a green emerged from blue cloud and seemed nervous by all that was going on. She couldn't blame the little one, as it seemed the two feisty greens and golds were at it again. The blue and purple paint green going right for one of her sisters, not seeming to be happy. Though, blue cloud was moving now and didn't seem to want to be touched at all. And from the look of it, despite her earlier thoughts about Funfetti going to fight, it seemed he wasn't interested in that. She saw as blue and purple paint hit one of her golden sister's with her tail. That was what seemed to stir flying purple heart egg's contents, revealing a green trying to break free. Funfetti seemed to give up and went to sulk near shining star egg, maybe he had been trying to help his sisters?
She couldn't muse on it for long, as she saw bone egg starting to angrily shake. Astri remembered that egg, it had given her quite a firm mental smack, before getting upset about all the people. Blue and black rosette began rocking right next to it. Not that she could worry about either right now, as she saw blue and purple paint turn her anger from her golden sisters, into the candidates. As much as she liked a good fight, she knew better than to get in the way of claws. So reaching for Mari and Stormy, hoped to get herself and them out of harm's way. She noticed another girl nearby, she believed her name was Velara and called out to her.
"You might want to come over here,"she suggested. After all, she would hate for anyone to get hurt. It seemed her concern was justified, as a brown burst out of the nanner egg and began to attack some of the candidates. She had thought she had heard that one had been pretty tame, it was clearly not the case. Not only that, but Bone finally cracked open, revealing a very red eye and sounded like growling. Though, it seemed paw print was finally done with arguing with her sisters and went towards the..stands? Was her bonded up there somewhere, she wondered. Unfortunately her green sister was not of the same mind, as she went to attack more candidates. Thankfully, a green burst out of blue and black rosette egg and went to intervene. Hopefully this would help. It was one thing to get into a fight, but sometimes it could be taken too far. Though, she was not the only green to emerge, bone egg revealed one as well. Astri could feel the rage coming from her...what had set her off?
Thankfully, brown paw print did seem to impress to someone in the stands, she was glad about that. She was sure her new rider would understand her earlier frustrations and get her patched up. Speaking of, she saw some of the healers coming among them, getting the worst of the injured and carting them off. One of the people didn't move much..had this hatching already claimed a life? She stood in front of the others with her protectively, she would make sure they were alright, even if it meant dragging them out of harm's way.
VEIKEL
His blood ran cold the moment several healers ran on to the sands. His fears had been realized, his hopes had been in vain- save for one at the back of his mind that was selfish - and Veikel's face turned whiter than that of the candidate robes. "Ahh....aaahhh..." He moved quickly after hearing Tristram shout, as did all the other healers towards the candidates that had been savaged by dragonets now gone. This...this isn't what he wanted to see. The last hatching here had been bad as well, but not this early. Not with this many wounded, with....dead.
It was obvious by the time he'd gotten over to his friend that the candidate's rescue had been in vain; a puddle of red was already evaporating into the scorching sand. He felt sick to his stomach, for many reasons, but he bit back the bile in his throat and ignored the chills that hounded his neck and back. They needed to get the body off, to check all the other children around who'd been hit. The hatching was only beginning, and he prayed to whomever or whatever was listening that the body count wasn't just starting as well.
FISHER
Oh, that didn't look good. Nor did that, and the hatching of that angry egg that had been placed into time out?? Into an angry green?? Fisher wasn't moving, as per the rules and her whole basic idea that running made things chase you. One of the dragonets - the first one - had Impressed and that was a relief, and Fisher exhaled as she watched for signs she needed to do something. Anything.
She didn't have much time to dwell when someone came over to her dragging a person behind. Both of them looked familiar but was now really the time to be digging deep for names? The boy and girl duo was given a cut nod and Fisher pointed out towards the sands with her chin. "Not good, yeah?"
Papys
"This is the first day of their lives..." Papys answered to the inquiry of the blue dragon, moving his hand as N'man took over his (frankly shoddy) attempt to be helpful. "Everything is both the worst and the best thing to ever happen to them. They're little...they'll learn..." maybe he if kept talking it'd help. He sure was feeling like a rambler.
Papys again found his attention drifting towards.....not now he jerked his head sharply to look anywhere else. If he processed that whole thing now........
Oh brother. Blue Cloud seemed to roll her eyes, letting out a series of muffled, but clearly mocking grumbles when her green sibling raised a fuss of a different kind while trying to get to her rider. She continued to move around, peering fish-eyed and neck extended to the fullest at each candidate she passed. Each one got a thorough examination, but none were to her liking… yet.
TETH
Teth was absolutely beside himself, his eyes practically grey. It was taking no small amount of control from F'ell to keep the brown in check, but it was obvious to anyone who looked at the sire that he was in mourning. His wings were folded, his hide was growing dim; all the happiness he'd had from the shaking of the first egg was nowhere to be found.
One of his best friends had died on the sands, at the hands of one of his own babies. Teth knew, he knew he couldn't and wouldn't blame the baby, but that didn't ease the sting. All along in his hearts and in his mind he wondered if this really was his fault! All of the babies so far seemed to aggressive, so angry and violent. They couldn't have gotten that from Killakeeth as she was so kind and loving and wonderful, which must mean all the aggression was from Teth.
Maybe his kindness was fake?? Was he a lying dragon whose true nature was cruel and harsh?? All sorts of thoughts, ridiculous in nature, ran through his mind as F'ell kept him close and loved. If anyone happened to look over at the usually stoic teen they'd notice a few tears on his face; they weren't his of course, but rather the only way for Teth to properly shed them.
Bukichi
Rage, pain, chaos. The war between the sets of sisters erupted, dragging candidates into the fray whether they wanted it or not. A brown hatched as well, viciously lashing out at the candidates nearby. Healers were rushing onto the sands when they could, trying to repair the damage, and Kiri's words made him grunt a quiet acknowledgement. He glanced at her briefly even as Aryale squeezed his hand, concerned.
"We'll be careful." He spoke aloud, his voice steady, if slightly tense. Two greens burst forth from other eggs--one being the egg both he and Aryale had such positive feelings about.
Bukichi tried not to look at the one candidate that was laying very, very still upon the sands, soaked in blood despite the Healers surrounding them. Dragons were still searching for Theirs... and focusing on what had happened served no purpose. As cold as it sounded, it wouldn't change anything. It had no impact on him and his potential future. But that didn't mean he didn't feel sympathy.
Phryana
The woman only had moments to act before the child holding her hand darted forward even as one of the incensed greens charged past--taking a blow from those sharp claws that opened flesh as easily as cutting through warm butter. Phryana made a violent sound, snatching Nonami back and away from the chaos before she was immediately on her knees. "Do we need to go to the Healers?" Her voice was sharp with anger, anger that this young candidate had tried to protect her and gotten themselves clawed. She used the white robe to press against the slashes, unable to tell how deep they were.
Her dark eyes were locked onto those lighter ones, intense. "Talk to me," She commanded, glancing quickly over her shoulder to ensure that they were still away from the angry dragonets. People were hurt all over--some very badly--but if she could protect this one, she sharding well would.
As a Gold, Frith had been watching the hatching quietly, knowing her 'sister' gold Killa had this in paw, she did give a little sound of sorrow when the candidate died, it was very sad, her eyes moved to Teth and her hearts broke, he was practically grey for a Brown
"Teth, loving, sweet brown father of these hatchlings, please do not blame yourself, these babies are their own little people, with their very own personalities, there is no way to predict how the babes will turn out until they hatch, it is not your fault" she crooned to him, her thoughts warm, comforting. He was Killa's mate but her hearts bruised so easily and she couldn't help trying to help soothe the poor folorn brown.
Her sisters words jolting over her like ice cold water, Blue and Purple Paint lurched, coming to a complete stop. Madness? What... would... Do you hate me? she asked, her hearts breaking. They were so new, but already all but broken. Her father's misery vibrated through her, and she shuddered. She hadn't been trying to hurt anyone, she had been angry. She'd just been angry. She'd wanted to stop her sisters from controlling anyone. But...
Could she have killed one of her siblings' Candidates? Would one of them never hatch? Never Impress? Ashen, the infant sat down, reality beginning to sink in. This violence had offended her most beloved sister of all, and oh how that stung! Would Blue and Black Rosette ever forgive her? She gave a soft keen, staring sadly at her sister. Who, perhaps, no longer loved her quite so much.
A feeling had drawn his head up at last from the nap he'd let himself have. Drug to the stands to watch the new hatchlings find their lifemates, it seemed that Tikallie had simply assumed that this would be a quiet event. Gaerdalth could have told her himself that it would be lovely, but the small blue had hobbled with her all the same, still adjusting to his life with only three legs as he was. Even to fly hurt, as the muscles in his chest had been eaten and lost in places... It was a learning experience for certain. Tika and the healers insisted that he get up and move around, so here he was, on a ledge above the stands as low as possible, watching his clutch brother grow greyer and greyer before his very eyes.
A boy died, he's simply saddened. Not the baby's fault. Tika whispered softly in his mind, but her brownish red eyes seemed damp all the same. Had she assumed it would be sweet and gentle hatching wise?
No, it's not her fault. You know how hatchlings are. Gaerdalth's tail curled up around her waist and his eyes swirled yellow for the sight he was witnessing below. Not the death of a candidate, but the heartbreak. Teth, look at your daughter that impressed. That's what it's for. Not fun, not a Chase, not the deaths that will always happen before and after impressions. It's love.
He knew the brown had it in him to love and understand. Others didn't give him enough credit with how he could be goody, but he would understand.
Bone Green:
The first thing Bone Green felt was something not at all right. In fact, the source was coming from none other than her own father and the green dragon snarled in irritability.
Pushing through the Candidates with sharp orders of Out of my way!, throwing any aside that didn't listen, regardless of the consequence, the creature glared hard at the one being that was supposed to protect and defend them from all of this nonsense. The one being that was supposed to be their rock, their shield.
Teeth bared, Bone Green hissed at the grey-eyed brown.
You great lumbering oaf, enough with this! You are either with us, or against us, and if you can't handle us as we are at our worst, than you don't deserve us at our best. Watch your thoughts, fool, because more sensitive minds than mine can hear you. Don't make me come over here again!. And with that, the little green took a small swipe at Teth with her infant claws, before turning around, kicking up some sand, and storming back into the fray of things.
And her anger was not at all quelled. If anything, it was worse.
This was outrageous and wasn't at all what should have been happening! Snarling, and snapping at those she passed, the green was certainly in a foul mood and anyone who didn't get out of her way would be forced out. What a day. What a freaking day! Newly hatched, and even this green knew more than a seasoned fighting dragon.
Bugling loudly, she sent out another wave of irritability. Focus on finding Yours! Take back your moments! Listen not to those who have nothing kind to think of you. She rubbed her head lovingly against Purple White Swirl Egg, which had not moved since the get go, and snapped at any Candidates who might have been a bit too near.
Someone had to start cleaning up this mess, and Bone Green was just the green to do so.
[Any Candidates are free to claim they didn't heed her advice and get shoved out of the way. Up to moderate damage--she wasn't being gentle, but wasn't outright looking to shank anyone. No death.]
Candidate Aelyx : Western : She/Her
A nod, and she gently began to escort Huarwar over to the healers. The pair of them never moved from the other's side, and she remained watching the hatchlings with a frightened eye. There was a bit of raw fear still in her breast that perhaps there was...going to be loss. Her loss. Shaking her head and banishing the thought, she decided to sit and let the healers tend their wounds so they might go back to Stand. Afraid she might be, but that wouldn't stop her.
BastetAmun
Moving Huarwar with Bast's permission, since she will not be home til later.
Candidate Wren : Western : He/Him
Wren's heart went out to the little green. Poor thing. Both of those greens had a right to feel the way they'd felt and he simply crossed his arms as he watched. However, his eyes were also drawn elsewhere, away to other hides, and other hatchlings. There was currently a lot going on, and a fair bit of blood on the sands already. Part of him wondered if his father or lover were watching...if they were worrying. Ah well, Wren would keep himself composed. Had to make them proud after all.
Candidate Micah | She/Her
Honestly, Micah hadn't been sure what might come of this clutch, or of this hatching, but so far? It was like home. Squabbles between siblings, blood, and violence...it was like watching the miners and their whers on a bad day. The girl remained quiet, but watched with a critical eye, idly apathetic about the whole ordeal. People died all the time, and people were getting so worked up. She didn't get it. Ah well.
As Funfetti continued his tale of woe, all but ignoring the (much greater) drama around him, Shining Star continued to hatch… into another blue! Funfetti barely noticed the change, naturally moving into physically miming the events that took place just minutes ago, swinging a paw here and there or flaring his wings to indicate the size of his larger golden siblings. Shining Star ate it up with an intent, deep blue gaze, flecks of yellow and gray tossed in when it was appropriate… but there were a few ways he could have done it better.
Then, things got really good. Or… really bad, actually. He may have accidentally shouldered Funfetti aside as things heated up, culminating in the death of a Candidate and Bone Green making quite the rousing speech! He bugled back enthusiastically in answer to the call to fate, and began searching for his!
