Rian - she/hers - HR
Oh. Oh, that was a gold on the sands. Maybe that didn't mean quite the same thing here in Western, but Rian had grown up in High Reaches, and so she found her eyes drawn to that glowing hide despite herself. What a beauty she was! Except --- except beautiful as she was, what happened to rose drew her eye more. Rose bumping into her sister's egg, her now very upset sister, and---
Oh no. It took all of her willpower not to do something foolish. She wanted to go help the baby, and from a quick look around at the other candidates, she wasn't the only one... but they... they couldn't. As much as she wanted to help, as much as she wished she could help untangle limbs from wings, doing so would only cause more trouble. And if she wanted to help her weyr, she had to not get in trouble. Surely--- surely the little one would be alright?
'Oh, hang in there, little one, you can do this, it'll be alright, it will, you'll see...' The poor dear; if she could just right herself and find Hers, she'd be able to get taken care of and start feeling better in no time. But--- but that didn't make watching and not being able to actually step in any easier.

While struggling to release her leg from its trapped position, Rose unfortunately also collided with the Spotted Green egg, and it cracked forcefully. The dragonet within gave a loud creel of dismay. One little yellow eye peeked out, just the barest hint of green hide revealed by the cracked shell. Spotted Green Green did not move, however, remaining in place as the pieces of the shell began to drop like rain.
Meanwhile, Green Pink Striped green had begun to stalk straight through the crowd of candidates. She was angry and didn't care who knew it! If she stepped on some and bumped against others, it didn't matter. She had a purpose, and that purpose was lollygagging around like some kind of... of... buffoon!
Excuse me, what do you think you are doing there? I haven't even looked at these Candidates yet. Get off!
But that didn't sit well with Yellow Striped, who gave a soft hiss. No! I was here first, and I don't wanna!
Rose continued to struggle limply, now laying fully on the sand, soft creels emanating as she tried and failed to free her wing. There was a long and evident tear across it. Her claws had quite secured themselves within the membrane, and it was hurting her dreadfully. Mama? Daddy? Papa? ... someone?
The stage was set so that in this dramatic and poignant pause Purple Galaxy egg could hatch into his full, blue magnificence. Yes, take him in. You over there! Don't you see how brilliant and beautiful he is? Clearly someone had been given the feline's share of charm and good looks.

Sivu - [He/Him] - Western Weyr Sivu swallowed an audible gasp. That tear looked like it hurt. “She’ll be okay,” he said towards Etansi, but more so to himself. “Right?” That little darling would be alright, and patched up in no time at all. The candidatemaster’s words echoing in his skull. Hatchlings were clumsy, sometimes people and dragons got hurt. Thats why there are healers near by - and you stay out of your way as best you could. It was self-soothing to run through this logical little list while he fussed. He couldn’t help them, but he could worry fiercely and keep his eye while he watched the dragons moved along the sands.
Loctius - [He/Him] - Western Weyr Poor thing! Oh, oh no. He watched the green tear her little wing and he wanted to rush to help them. To fix their poor little fouled claw. However, he definitely knew better than to rush across the sands ilke a candidate on their first lesson. Instead he watched carefully, relieved to see the little green head towards their parents.
He had regrettably missed the blue’s entrance in his worry, but turned his gaze to admire them in turn. What a handsome presence!

Baihath
The small dragon warbled with delight as more and more eggs began to hatch--and immediately ducked his head to fondly nudge the Orange Spot Leopard Green. His little brown son was bonding wonderfully with the Candidates, his other blue son had hatched magnificently... and this little darling was here for cuddles!
A golden daughter hatched, and some were beginning to squabble... but Baihath fixated upon the Rose green with a soft creel. He glanced hurriedly at Khamaith and Turoth, not wanting to overstep, but oh....!
Quickly, he minced across the sands, gently seeing if he couldn't nudge her claws free of her wing. Oh! Such an ouchie! It's okay, beautiful one! We'll get this fixed up, no problem! He radiated his adoration at her, doing his best to gently work those sharp talons free from sensitive flesh. His poor daughter! We'll make sure it doesn't hurt at all soon! I promise.

Khamaith
Pressing a gentle nuzzle to Orange Leopard Spot Green’s head, Khamaith had been content to let her daughter stay and cuddle to her hearts’ content. Instinct and hunger would eventually win out, but she would be content to soak in the affection. But another cry, from another daughter, drew her attention -- and the pain in her voice made her ache.
Size was sometimes a boon, and she uncurled where she had tucked herself in to glance about -- until landing on little Rose Green, and her mightily-fowled wing. Oh, darling -- Mama is here, don’t worry. A gentle calm to her words, soft reassurance as she inspects the wing. However, seeing Baihath move across the sands, she picked her head up to watch her beloved mate gently try to work her claws free. Papa’s got you, darling.
---
Niviora - She/Her - Western
Things were beginning to pick up, and Niviora hums softly as she eyed the little green who walked up to the preening bronze -- only to be rebuked by the bright and smashing arrival of the young gold. Her eyebrows raise slightly at her bombastic nature, with clear appreciation for a dragon who wasn’t shy about what she wanted.
----
Dystzha - She/Her - Western
The bronze content to go back to grooming, Dystzha relaxed some. She wasn’t scared of him, more in awe, honestly--look at that presence he commanded!--but she’s following the movement of the eggs, of greens and blues -- awww, green baby wanted her mama -- and… oh! A gold, and another green! Ohh, they were darling, weren’t they? “Here -- I’ll protect you -- come see the babies a bit better.” Dystzha scooches over so Surel could see a bit better, beaming.
---
Shoxiel - He/His - Western
Content to rock back on his heel, he watched with interest as eggs cracked and exploded, revealing their contents. The hidden baby skulking around the eggs drew his curiosity, if only to see what the baby was besides a shadow.
However, the green who ensnared in his brother drew him with alarm, gaze drifting over them both to see that Loctius and the baby were alright (and the relief they were both alright.)

Zhaydegan
It had all began with the very dramatic flop and sprawl of the brown across another candidate's legs. What had begun? The mad whirl of chaos and confusion and everything that made up a great Hatching. Eyes bright, he slung his arm around Savindri's neck in turn, just for a moment. "Look at all of them," he breathed and laughed. "Look at all of them showing off for us. Do you think they even know that we're showing off for them too? Blue, bronze, brown, green. They want us to see them and we want them to see us and it's crazy!"
----
Eliaza
With each new Hatching, Eliaza actually seemed to relax. It helped, of course, tat the bronze who had been so angry when he first emerged had settled into something more contained, and he'd been followed by dragons exuding such utter joy. How could anyone not feel better after all of that?
The gold exploding out of her shell made Eliaza squeak in surprise, then cover her mouth as she laughed at herself. Rather than trying to keep some sort of distance between herself and Alisaide, she stepped sideways, closer to her new companion, and reached for the other candidate's hand. "Look at her. Just look!"
----
Ollandin
They'd been wary of the bronze when he was angry, but that had faded now, and with so many little rushing dragonets on the Sands, it was smart to be alart of all of them, not just the ones who moved agressively. Ollandin kept a little bit behind Ollanmar, though he would have sworn it wasn't intentional. It just made sense. If he had to drag his twin back a step or two, out of harm's way, he was in a good position to do it.
"That blue has your ego," he teased his brother, when the showy blue had emerged from his shell. And that became a running theme. Each new dragonet that announced itself with flair and attitude was suited to Ollanmar. Even the gold. Which made Ollandin grin ear to ear, though it was never going to happen and he couldn't even make it through the taught without laughing.

It was hard to know where to look: all of these babies were very beautiful, and so very unique. Her heart was stolen by the blue and green siblings who were investigating the candidates at their own pace. Yellow swirl brown seemed to have decided to take a nap- on some candidates! Well how about that!
And that Tribal Bronze... Well, he was just a proper gentleman. She watched with fascination as he groomed himself, tail-in-mouth. Was that more pressing than food, and a bond that would give him as much confidence as he would ever need, for eternity? Until the darkness... Ah, no, happy thoughts. She projected the warmth of an open heart and a world ready to cherish them.
When the Rose Egg hatched, Kel sighed softly to herself, amazed and awed. What a sweet, beautiful girl! She was transfixed as the green offered her brother comfort and encouragement, touched by her manner and thoughtfulness... It reminded her a little of the world she'd left behind- thinking of and putting others' needs first.
When Gold Striped revealed a gold, Keleres was stunned. What a beautiful sight the newest golden daughter was, and her parents had every right to be proud. But Kel worried, too, for there had been an undeniable hint of red in her eyes, and she feared it was for the rose green. Perhaps a mark of her own intuition, her worries came true: the young Queen carried herself with such bearing, and pushed the green away from her brother. There seemed to be no denying her authority.
It went from bad to worse, for the little green at least. She backed into another egg, was swiped at by the green within, and tore her wing as she tripped. No. /Oh no. Please be okay. Please little one./ Keleres' hands rose to her throat, her face paling at the thought of losing a precious baby... No... Flashes of the lost green from High Reaches still haunted her dreams, at times- sentimental, some might have said, but Keleres had a difficult time with death.
"She'll be okay right? Right..?" Her voice grew quieter, eyes fixed on Baihath as he nudged his daughter, attempting to free her. "They'll help her. She'll be okay." Keleres tried to think happy, welcoming thoughts- especially as the Queen began her inspection... Breathe, and remember the moment. Stay with it.
/Everything would be okay./

[ candidate lyfrocier ] - he/him - western
Lyfrocier had been comfortable enough, given the circumstances--he was quite sure he'd wind up with a scalded back for all of this when the dragonet on top of him decided to leave, but...he found himself to be okay with it. He wondered if he'd be able to handle the whole Hatching here. He'd been keeping an eye on the Greens still milling around, and Rose's plight had distracted him from her approaching sibling. That looked like a Green on a mission, and Lyf liked to think that he knew trouble coming when he saw it. Delicately, he patted the Yellow Stripe Brown, hoping not to upset him any further.
"There's no harm in letting your siblings take a look. If you'd like, you can settle back down when she's done." Lyf did his best to sit up just enough to get a good look at the Green Pink Striped Green, meeting her scathing gaze with a much more level one in response. He could remain calm--now was certainly not the time to falter, anyway. The Green knew what she was after, and she had a lot of searching to do in order to get it. It went without saying that he didn't want to get in her way in the meantime.

En'cai of bronze Spurth
"Dust, for certain," En'cai agreed, clearing his throat. No matter what emotion he might be feeling, or what he was sure he'd seen in his wingleader's eyes, you just didn't argue when another man was covering for himself. You did not.
En'canthought about it, looking down at the candidates thoughtfully. "I don't know many of them. Any of them, really," he confessed. "Not this time around." Eyebrows lifting, he ventured, "If you want to make it official, though..." He smiled a sly grin, having finally caught on. "I'd put a quarter-mark on one of our young ladies first."
