Well I got that you're trying to convert one thing into another thing using a particular program, but it's not working somehow. Although the technical bits are beyond me, which is why I asked what VOBs and MKVs are xp

I'm horrible at explaining things so I just copy pasted words from smart people lol
A VOB file (Video Object) is a container format contained in DVD-Video media. VOB is based on MPEG-2 program stream format, but with additional limitations and specifications in the private streams. It contains the actual Video, Audio, Subtitle, and Menu contents in stream form.
The Matroska Multimedia Container is an open standard free Container format, a file format that can hold an unlimited number of video, audio, picture or subtitle tracks inside a single file. It is intended to serve as a universal format for storing common multimedia content, like movies or TV shows. Matroska is similar in conception to other containers like AVI, MP4 or ASF, but is entirely open in specification, with implementations consisting mostly of open source software. Matroska file types are .MKV for video (with subtitles and audio), .MKA for audio-only files and .MKS for subtitles only.
Matroska is an English word derived from the Russian word "matryoshka" (Russian: матрёшка, IPA: [mɐˈtrʲoʂkə]), which means "nesting doll" (the common Russian egg-shaped doll within a doll). This is a play on the container (media within a form of media/doll within a doll) aspect of the matryoshka as it is a container for visual and audio data. The transliteration may be confusing for Russian speakers, as the Russian word "matroska" (матроска) actually refers to a sailor suit.

Although not too sure about that last one but pretty darn sure! D: This has been driving me mad all freakin' year long! And what the hell is supposed to get used for muxing ? VirtualDubMod ? MKVtoolnix ? AVIMux_Gui?! I'm way over my head! @.@

I've not been around much... It's too cold, and I think I've started hibernating. But I've also found a neat MMO that looks like it's going to occupy some time.

Mmmn, I tried that one, Erv. It didn't impress me enough to have me continue. Interesting idea, beautiful graphics, yet falls short somehow. (Perhaps it needs more jumping.)

Well, it hits one of the given pitfalls of any game. The main character must have one of these three faults: Cannot jump (Zelda games and so on), cannot swim (more games than I can count), or cannot run (you know how annoying THAT gets).
