The merfigured changling went back into the water, and elegantly decended and perched on a rock ever so lightly. The feeling of serenity seemed constant around it. It gazed up into the sky from below.

 Joshua nodded in reply, still watching the figure. He moved around the edge of the crescent so that he was closer to the figure. He made sure he was visible, hoping not to startle the figure. He didn't want to make it flee. "Um...Mac?" He called hesitantly. Joshua wasn't even sure if that was it's name anymore. It certainly didn't look like Mac. "What just happened?"

((OOC: Last post for awhile - I'm going downtown for the afternoon.))
Katalina quietly pulled Nezik back. She didn't want to interrupt Joshua's powwow with the figure. But if the creature turned violent, she and Nezik ought to be able to hold it back long enough for Tianara to get Joshua away.

Tianara curiously went along with Joshua. Mostly because she had caught the drift of Katalina's thoughts, and knew she had to stay nearby in case Mackenzie-but-call-me-Mac - or the creature that he had been - got violent.

The figured looked at Joshua, "I have awakened...But Mac is not my name" it said in a soft tone. My name is Aqua, the water itself. I am a physical form with thought and purpose. Do not fear me, as I am part of everything, even you" Aqua spoke.

Joshua blinked in confusion. "Ookay....Not what I was expecting." The physical form of water itself? Should that have even been possible? Joshua shook his head to clear. 'With all I've seen, you'd think I'd learn not to question whether something can be real or not.' He thought to himself. Joshua sat down on the rock. This was even weird than he'd thought. Mac had turned into the essence of water.....

Aqua spoke yet again, "I will not stay like this forever, I will change back soon, but I will still have consciousness and Mac and I's thoughts will combine." Aqua paused. "I was awakened to help defend this world. A great evil is going to arrive. They discovered me and wanted to destroy me, and now we must prepare to help make harmony once again".

Joshua looked curious. "An evil? What kind of evil?" He had no idea what Aqua was talking about. It made him irritated - To have so much he didn't know about. Joshua prided himself on being very knowledgeable.

"You must learn to control human emotions, as they can be your downfall. There will be great circumstances that you must keep a steady mind, so don't let anger or hated into your heart" Aqua continued. "This evil is the force itself, but it takes control of lesser beings. I do not know exactly what the figure is this time, but I will sense evil when its close".

Tianara had listened to this with her gaze going from skeptical to confused to worried. "Joshua," she said quietly, "what is he talking about? What evil?" Although she was nervous, she didn't want to ask what was really on her mind, since Mac - or rather, Aqua or whatever now - still had not seen the merfolk. Even if he was the essence of water or whatever it was he was claiming, she still did not want to ask the question that practically demanded an answer in front of him.
Will the clans be in danger, Joshua? Will my people - my family - be in danger from this?
She looked out towards the rocks where Katalina and Nezik still were. They couldn't be hurt. Her family couldn't be hurt. She wouldn't allow it.

Joshua shook his head, trying to think it through. "The...essence....of evil? It sounds like....Almost like a mind controlling force. Like a leader or something that's gathering people to work for it." He paused then added in a much quieter voice. "I don't know who or what will be hurt by evil, Tianara. I'm only guessing at what I can." It didn't matter though. Joshua would do whatever he could to protect the sea and all it's inhabitants.

"That man..." murmured Tianara all of a sudden, her eyes widening a bit. "Joshua, you remember that man at the caverns? The one who told you he could grant wishes, if you signed that form?" She turned her slightly shocked face to him. It didn't take a genius to follow her train of thought. "He talked about a war."
What if he intends to start it?

Joshua's eyes widened as he followed Tianara's train of thought. "Oh boy. Not good. Not good at all." He looked to the girl beside him. "If he intends to start a war than everybody is in trouble." The man had spoken of a war between everybody, including those in the sea and those on land.

"He knows where my family is," whispered Tianara. "I don't know how he found us, but he knows where they are." Her eyes were wide and she seemed to be following her own ideas. "They can't be hurt, Joshua. We can't let him hurt them." By 'them' she referred to her family, and to Katalina, Nezik and Narcis - all the merfolk she knew, all the ones that were her friends. "They..."
Abruptly she remembered that Aqua was still there, and she stopped talking. But her face revealed a conflict of terrified emotions.

"Tianara!" Joshua whispered her name sharply. He put one hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. He tried to reassure the terrified girl. "Listen to me. We'll do everything we can to protect them. We'll do whatever is needed." He told her determinedly. Just like Tianara, he didn't want any of the merfolk to be hurt. Nor any of the other sea ccreatures. Joshua wasn't quite sure what they could do, but he knew that they would do it, whatever it was.

She shook her head violently, making her long hair fly. "Two against the world, is that what you're saying, Joshua?" she asked. "They don't want to fight, but humans do. They like to. I..." Tianara trailed off, trembling a bit even as her hand rose to cover the one that Joshua had put on her shoulder. "What can we do? Joshua, what can we do?"
And there was the problem. What, precisely, could two teenagers do to stop a war?

Katalina reached out mentally to Joshua. We're going back to the caverns, her voice said quietly into his mind. We've heard enough - Nezik and I have to warn the other sea folk that we must prepare for war. They need to know. I... She hesitated. We'll be back as soon as possible.
A very soft splash came from behind the rocks, and the two merfolk were gone.
