Jacomus gave a small start as he found Fidget hovering near him. Where Fish and Marsh had gone off to wherever, here was Casgar's flit. He gave his shoulder a pat, smiling at the small creature, "Suppose they can't be angry about the Headman's flit, can they? Come on, then, to my shoulder with you!" He got the impressions of Casgar's activities, smiling somewhat fondly. So busy... But then, this hadn't been expected to happen so late into the evening. He couldn't wait to see what had been done to turn a regular dinner into a full feast!

His attention was drawn to the demon and his actions, the bronzerider starting forward. Jacomus knew better, though - He'd seen what had happened to P'tius and many others, when they got too close to sharp baby dragon claws. He swallowed, stepping back, only to bump right into somebody. When he turned, he first spied Nemo, giving the greenrider a small wave. The cartographer was something of a curiosity to him, like a... Miniature Casgar, almost. Except less elegant. FAR less elegant. Next to him stood- "P'tius?!"

P'tius stared down slightly, blinking owlishly for a moment. A form of fear was in his eyes, from watching the hatchling maul not one, but two candidates. Seeing his brother soon snapped him out of it. "J'mus, what are you doing here?"

"What am I doing here? I live here!" Well, now he lived there. But what was P'tius doing there? He didn't think his most uptight brother would ever be anywhere like Western Weyr, with far too much of a hard stick up his a**, in Jacomus' opinion. "And I've gone back to Jacomus, not J'mus! Only Kraketh gets to call me that!"

"I will call you by your rider name, not your birth name, because you are a rider, and what do you MEAN you live here?!"

From the other side of P'tius, Nemo said, "One, this is not the time for arguing like weyrlings. Two, he's been here since Vimiath's flight. He's been with Casgar, our Headman."

P'tius stopped, eyes squeezing shut. "With the... Headman... Is he anything like-"

"SHARDS no!"

"GOOD."

Nemo only chuckled at the brothers, before he turned his attention to the sands. "Oh look, a green's Impressed!"

--

Things had been going well, and then they had very much not been. Acting quickly, Norathoman got his bag of numbweed over to the other healers and the injured candidates. "I have extra bandages and numbweed!" Even if they were going to die, he'd make sure they didn't suffer. He looked over at the newly-Impressed pair of G'ryl and the brown, which brought at least a small smile to his face. Nora drew a breath, though, getting to work. There were candidates getting injured left and right, and they all needed to not be bleeding everywhere.

At his bag, Plague clung to the side, using her tiny paws to hand him things. Her own focus was on helping Her Human, and the humans he worked with, not on the dragonets. She had a job, she had tasks, and she happily performed them. Nothing would distract her!

Well, something DID distract her. When the Goblin started trying to play with the injured, the flit paused in her activities and flared her wings, eyes shifting to red as she let out a warning growl. The action was more bark than bite, of course, but she still wanted it to convey the proper meaning. Nora looked down, letting out a surprised sound, "Are you looking for yours over here?" He didn't mean to address the hatchling, it just... Came out.

(Heck I don't know who to quote, I've been gone for some 9 pages, ROFL)

As the commotion unfolded, the sixteen year old ended up backing way up and just swallowed. He knew hatchings could be violent, but... He winced as he saw the maulings of the two candidates and looked around for some kind of cover. There were some regrets Beli was having right now. Part of him was screaming at himself to just run away. He didn't need to impress anyway. He didn't know the eggs, didn't know anything about the clutch. It was a small chance he'd impress.

At the same time he wanted to be a rider.

Fight or flight? Fight or flight? For now he'd just cower.

Skylla

It really did seem like it was going to be a long night as well as a longer turn for them, but Skylla new Liat and Orioth could handle this. She had never seen the woman have trouble with a group of weyrlings before. When she was told to go and check on the newly impressed brown pair, she nodded her head to Liat. "Of course."

Easily moving onto the edges of the sand where the newly impressed G'ryl and Sarcoth were, Skylla nodded to Haukai as she moved over. Her eyes looked over G'ryl before looking at the other candidate that had been mauled. This hatching was getting insane. "How are they?" She spoke to Haukai, though her attention was now on G'ryl more then anything before her eyes moved to look at Sarcoth. The little brown seemed ok, but she wanted to make sure. Neith can you speak to the young weyrling please.

Sarcoth, mine wishes to know how you are feeling. Do you have any injuries that need to be looked at while yours gets taken care of?

H A R O L

Harol, at this point, was sitting in his seat, a bundle of nervous tension. His legs were crossed, one arm folded at his waist with the other bent at elbow, his hand covering his mouth with mildly trembling fingers, wide eyed in horror and shock at the brutal attack from Demon. Dragonets popped left and right and a couple more Impressed. He kept having to remind himself to stop holding his breath. His baby sister was out there! Please let her be okay at the end of the day. His mouth felt dry. When had he last blinked? There was such violence, such carnage. Poor Adar! He wished her strength. Hang in there, please.

A D A R

Oh, how she has been so excited for this...Then the violence started. Attacking, malicious on one end, play on another? Adar felt hot, vaguely dizzied, nausea threatening to upend her already empty stomach. She clenched clammy, shaking hands around fistfuls of the fabric of her robe as she shakily forced herself to inhale and exhale, and repeat. She couldn’t look, she couldn’t! Adar was aware of a couple of Impressions, but also aware how dangerously close to jelly her knees felt. Oh nooo... A soft groan emerged from deep in her throat, edging just on this side of a whine. Those attacks looked so bad. Sure, she this wasn’t her first Hatching but it didn’t make it any easier! Please let them be okay.

H A I Z E A

The mauling demon was horrifying thing to behold. She stood aghast at the savagery. Such malicious will! And then the green hatched and pretty quickly Impressed. Pretty thing, but Haizea didn’t want to lose sight of the greatest threat on the Sands. Without thinking, in response to Laelia taking hold of her wrist, she reached over with her free hand to give the clutching hand a squeeze, just holding it there. Mummy Impressed? Goblin was bubbly and playful until Vamp squared off with her but didn’t seem up for the sheer force of her mischief. So many active dragonets out and about! So much action! Oh, the adrenaline was certainly going, her heart beginning to race. “Whew, getting crazy. Laelia, let’s stick together, yeah?” Safety in numbers, right? There was a nervous smile on her face but she still gave the hand she held a squeeze. They’d be alright.

G'ryl
Sarcoth eyed the healer that approached them appraisingly, rearing up on his hind legs to watch the woman. I expect no less, healer.

Gratefully, Gavril collapsed onto the stretcher and closed his eyes, one hand held out for Sarcoth even as the healers began their work. His was a long list of wounds – deep puncture wounds on his shoulder, deep and seeping lacerations over 2/3 of his body, and massive gash in his thigh, a broken ankle... a cut that ran down his face. He'd been thoroughly mauled and sand clung to every wound.

Impatiently, Sarcoth began lapping at Gavryl's wounds, liking the sand from it and trying to nose under his blanket with him. Right now, all he cared about what His' comfort and recuperation.

When the Goblin ran over, Sarcoth spun with a hiss, wings mantling as he puffed himself up – Gavryl had been laid out near Dolmar and the green wanted to play. Irritated, Sarcoth cast a glance at the vampiric blue as he called out, Can't you at least corral her? I thought you fancied yourself good at these sorts of things?

Putting himself squarely between the goblin and Gavryl, Sarcoth looked down at his playful clutchsib, Go find Yours, they will play with you endlessly, I'm sure, and he won't order you around. No shoo, go. He went so far as to firmly nose the green back toward the Candidates proper.

When Dolmar caressed the green and mumbled something incoherent, the brown merely looked down with displeasure. Gavryl possessed so much more self control than that. He snorted and ensure his green sister was moving off.

Then Neith was speaking to him and he arched his neck, proudly displaying the wounds he'd taken in defence of his perfect partner. I am alright, but I would prefer not to scar. He turned a little to flare his wings out and display the raked claw marks across his back and the bite marks on a shoulder – the demon had not given up so easily.

Shahera watched as the Green made a run for ..freedom? To Dolly. He’s not going to be of much help. Unless the green was going to impress. Shahera couldn’t help herself. She started laughing out loud. Which probably looked a little odd in the doom and gloom Sands. But the idea of Dolly, Dolly, with a playful little green…but it was not to be. And now the poor thing was sad again. Shard it all. What did you do Dolly?

The Goblin felt and heard Dolmar's no at the same time as the Vampire's. And then Sarcoth said no too, and other things. Not... play? Retreating back to her little corner of sand, the dragonet pouted. Want to play.

Play?

Just because I have more important things to do does not mean I am not capable of controlling her, the Blue Vampire said, offended by his brother's insinuation.

But Gob...

Gob wanted... to play.

Shards, but there was a lot going on! Venn had stood and watched in horror as the first little dragon that had brushed so nicely against him turned on the Candidates, tearing into them with gusto. He had seen some pretty intense things at other Hatchings he had stood for, but never quite so vicious and with such obvious intent as this! While the bronze stole the show, quite a few of the eggs hatched and finally a dragon barreled into his larger brother to knock him off the Candidate. Some of the dragons were beginning to Impress and Venn could barely keep his mind in a place of peace and happiness with everything that was going on.

Finally he took a slow, deep breath and closed his eyes. The bronze had stopped the mauling for the time being, there were dragons all over the Sands, and he needed to remain calm and clear-minded if he wanted one to find him. He unclenched his hands and breathed in through his nose and out through his mouth in slow, measured paces, blocking the distractions from around him. As much as he wanted to help those injured, he knew it was a job for the healers and not for him. They all had a job to do and danger was part of the risk of Standing.

Opening his eyes, Venn focused on sending out calming vibes to the area at large. The dragons were restless, some were grumpy and bossy, others simply looking for Theirs or to have a good time. His eye was caught by the brave White dragon and for a moment a smile broke his calm facade. What a plucky little hero, teaming up with the Hunter. Venn had spend a bit of extra accidental time with the irritated dragon and he knew that he was certainly a protector, so hopefully they'd help keep the Demon under control.

Ryala

From over by Vimiath, Ryala didn't have as clear of a view as before. Still, theoretically, she should be safer here from the Demon bronze, who had yet to choose a rider. And her view wasn't entirely obscured.

Currently, the girl's eyes flicked back and forth from one green to another, to the Vampire blue, and back again. He certainly seemed to be a serious one, or perhaps he simply had standards. Or both. Either way, he was determined to rein in his green siblings. Eyeing him speculatively, she wondered who he might choose.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 17, 2017 10:48 pm
The Demon
He had heard the Angel's cry, but pointedly was ignoring the thing. Instead, the creature spread his wings and gave a long, luxurious stretch. His eyes continued to whirl blue, as if he wasn't stained with blood, and hadn't attempted to kill two of the Candidates. It looked at Jagmund and seemed to laugh at the other, swishing his tail, and not bothering to take the bait.

Honestly.

This crowd was too sensitive. He'd hardly touched the boys, though there were a few others out there that had seemed interesting.

The bronze was going to do what it wanted -- and it was gong to purposefully ignore the insignificant blip that was The Angel and the The Hunter.

Now, what game should it play next?

The Hunter
The bronze dragon's eyes continued to flare red. It stood with his white sibling before it trumpeted -- loudly -- in defiance as its brother turned his back on them both. With a loud hiss, it bounded after the Demon, trying to avoid running through the Candidates, but too focused on putting down the beast among them!

With a roar, he pounced---

But the Demon was ready.

Like lightning, it whipped around, and snapped hard at its bronze brother. This fight was on, and any Candidates nearby might well get whipped by either dragon's tail or wings.

The two brothers fought, snarling, grappling, and trying hard to tear into one another. Ichor fell, but whose, it was hard to say. I COMMAND YOU TO STOP! The Hunter shrieked.

The Demon, for his part, only laughed. I shall never submit.

The Werewolf
Oh! Oh what was this? With Yevalee having left her -- the poor green didn't realize exactly what a painful pinching game she was playing -- she paused so she might cuddle up to a few of the white robed Candidates. Some of them looked frightened. Some of them looked upset. She crooned at Adar, and sidled up to nose the girl, sending her waves of support. All would be well in due time!

Ah, but then The Goblin's creels caught her attention, and she quickly hastened away from Adar and ran over to her clutch sib. PLAY! And with a happy pounce, she tried to entice her sister in a game of chase

The Ghoul
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! The Ghoul green found herself forced to stop. She sat down hard -- and the last of her egg shell finally fell off. With a defiant shriek, she spread her wings and keened. She was hungry! She was SO HUNGRY!

Whirling around, she stomped back from the entrance, and instead started looking for other things to eat.

Like an avenging Angel, the white dragonet went careening into the fray, claws out, teeth bared. You are the most wretched filth that Pern has ever had the ill grace to birth the Angel declared, seeking to transfer the Demon's focus onto him. Him, and not the Candidates. They did not need to be further hurt. Even the fool on the stretcher had not deserved this. And make no mistake, he knew the Demon had been trying to kill them.

Innocent? No. Child? Yes.

The Angel repudiated notions of this monstrosity that did not condemn his reign of terror. Like a whirlwind of infant sharpness, the dragonet struck. He went right for the Demon's tail.

And the Vampire reasserted his will upon his sister, spreading it out to encompass the Werewolf as well. Not right now. Stop.

Henwas and Huarwar

"That bronze certainly has a lot of spunk." Henwas voice brought Huarwar's attention back from trying to reach the bronze hatchling. It seemed like a fight was about to begin though Huarwar had to shake his head some. "Funny, everyone is freaking out about the maulings, no one has died." Huarwar just stared at his brother, wanting to ask him if he was kidding but he knew better then to ask that. Henwas wasn't a kidder and it almost seemed as if he was admiring the work the Demon had done. There was a sickening lurch to his stomach at this.

As if noticing his brother having a few worrying thoughts, Henwas turned his head to look at his twin. "Everything will end up working out, calm down." Though as the Demon and Hunter latched with one another, fighting, Henwas raised an eyebrow as Huarwar felt some worry for the hatchlings fill him. Wouldn't it be just so much easier to find who they wanted to be theirs instead of doing this?

In a more than compliant mood given everything that had just happened on the Sands and her own wonderful Impression, Amra was still stunned to see everything with new eyes. It was as if she were staring through two sets of eyes and she could feel Seirath's immense frustration for the happenings of her siblings. How dare they all act this way? Only her blue sibling seemed to be holding anything together and she was swiftly doubting that he might hold some control over her Goblin sister.

Amra glanced down at her beautiful green and noticed that she had stopped despite Liat's calls, eyes swirling a discontent orange color as she took in the chaos and maulings. Seirath had seen quite enough, her sisters deserved to play even if she wanted all the attention she could recieve and completely deserved. She hummed, the sweet sound rising louder and louder as she changed pitches and sang. It was a dragon's song and one of a little hatchling, so it could be forgiven if she was not perfectly in tune, though she would be loath to admit that she was anything other than perfect!

Sisters! Find yours so that you may eat and play! Do not do any further damage, lest you draw his attention.

With nothing more to offer, the little green moved languidly towards her first meal and Amra's stomach made quiet noises as she felt the first pangs of dragon hunger. Seirath, for her part, did not immediately dive into the food offered and chose to pick out pieces like a lady, if a hungry one.

"My apologies Master Liat, she seems to be concerned for her sisters still on the Sands." Amra offered to her new Master, unsure of herself now that she was a rider and not a Candidate. She had heard things and met Liat before, though only as a passing face she'd filed away for future reference, how was she to know she would need to recall such information so soon!?

Her heart was still quite light despite all the carnage about her and she felt for the second Candidate that had Impressed, his scars would be terrible if not taken care of quickly. He was in good hands though, time to think of her own little dragonet, who was still picking out what she deemed to be the best choices. What came next, oiling yes? Certainly her delicate skin would dry out quickly out of her shell and the last thing Amra wanted was for her to develop a patch or two that would keep her from going Between or fighting Thread. Reaching down into herself she summoned up a list of all Master A'ral had taught her and it brought her a calm, surely there were those less prepared but she would not, could not embarrass herself or her new dragon by being so herself.

You simply must tell me how that trick works Amramine.

Looking down quickly she grinned at Seirath, how had she known? "Of course beautiful, you'll find out soon enough how that works."

Faren had thought that... finally, things might calm down just a little. The Demon was keeping to himself, however long that would last... The newest Blue seemed to be attempting to control the situations in ways Farensil had seen golds do in unruly hatchings, before, and new hatchings. And a WHITE! ... which looked ready to square off against the demon, of course, but... So many beautiful hides rolling about the sands.

Then she looked over, and noticed the little green bounding for the healer's corner, and her breath caught in her throat. ~Not there!~ She thought frantically. The people over there CERTAINLY weren't ready for play right now! But... Distractions, or possibly commands from the others, had fixed it. That little brown looked ready to tear anyone close to the boy the same way the demon had. She had hoped those on the sands already would find theirs quickly. "Playing and eating must wait until you have found that one who is special to only you. They will share food with you, and play with you. Find them, first." She hoped beyond hope, just under her breath.

... Aaand, the Demon was fighting again!

The brawling bronzes had amped up the tension she was feeling. Her head throbbed. Lowering herself into an uneasy squat, she used a hand planted in the hot sand to balance herself. Perhaps not such a good idea, lest she have trouble standing again, when she wasn’t feeling quite so queasy...A croon and a shape’s approach in her periphery caused her to flinch before the waves of support washed over her and a nose nudged gently against.. Turning to see the source, she offered a small grateful smile to Werewolf. The Green had taken the time to stop by even though there was more pressing things to worry about. Aww! “Thank you,” Adar muttered to the green before she raced off to play with her rascally sister. A short laugh escaped her and she sniffled, that had been really sweet.
