The second to hatch made his eyebrows raise--feisty and angry. And why shouldn't she be, when there was egg white and shell holding her back. Storming and stomping her way out of the clutch, a pretty, determined little thing. Certainly admirable. Its his own fault, however, as he goes to wipe perspiration from his face that he doesn't see her charge into the crowd, and some errant limb knocked him over on his side. Oh, ow. Hot, hot, hot. Ielin scrambles to his feet, perking up as another tried to crack open--and a golden peek at the contents within. Certainly interesting.. A blue soon to follow after. Where had the green gone to.

Ielin turns until he spots the darker green--now more amicable it seems. At least she didn't seem to be on a warpath. The brighter green was also zooming about, looking rather friendly and cute. It almost brought a smile to his face. Almost.

Ezyzu - Western Candidate

Two greens! And such lovely, lively babies at that! She near cooed, even as the darker of the two tore into the candidate group. She kept her gaze flickering between the two of them, trying to keep track. But a crack from another egg drew her attention as a maw poked through the egg shell -- was that a gold? No mistaking it, a gold making her way through the shell.

“You can do it!” She called out, bouncing on her toes. The little gold could do it, Ezyzu believed she could. Her attention was diverted momentarily as another egg hatched--the fourth to emerge being a little blue! “Hello little one.”

Jagmund judged that he would tire of Beligian's presence quickly, if that foolish little giggle was anything to go by, and the way he cooed his name at the hatchling. The older Candidate rolled his eyes, and was about to say something unpleasant when he was interrupted by a SHRIEK.

For some reason, the grumpy green had turned on her sister, wings spread and eyes whirling. Panic like a shard of ice shot through Jagmund and his heart beat frantically in his chest.

"SHARDS!" Not again! He was NOT prepared for this again! He screamed, not realizing he was screaming, as he grabbed Beligian and pulled the younger Candidate away from the greens, adrenaline making him almost yank the poor boy's arm right out of it's socket.

Pleased to have proper permission, the young healer scrambled up atop Yudueth's waiting head, holding gently onto a headknob as he moved so she wouldn't shake or sway. This was a nice benefit of being very close to a dragon, she supposed, as his height gave her an excellent view of everything. "Oh, there's another dragonet on the sands. A blue one!" The excitement in her voice was hard to miss as she leaned a bit, though Soui was careful to steady herself lest she go tumbling down and find herself in need of healing. "And the greens are....fighting? Playing?" Her question was followed by the tilt of her head, unsure as to what to make of the interactions.

Was her ignorance of dragons and their ongoings this bad? She'd really need to brush up when she went back to the Weyr and the Hall, if she were ever going back to the hall. There would be no time for these thoughts though, as she scanned over the eggs to see what else was new. "Oh!! Is that....a golden claw? Did this clutch contain a Gold?!" The surprise in her voice was hard to miss, if only because she was so amazed by just what this hatching was offering. "There's no way anyone can criticize the mama dragon anymore, is there? She's had four beautiful babies hatch so far, and ...." Soui trailed off, going back to watching.

Zarike

Oh shaft! Zarike made a half hearted lunge towards the candidates about to get mauled and stumbled short as the two greens rolled away quickly, more interested in each other than the boy that had fallen on a hatchling?!

His heart hammered in his chest. What were they thinking shoving each other here like that?

The Pink Striped Green didn't seem at all fussed when her sister wound up turning her pounce into a roll, and then a pin. Though she shrugged beneath her, there was no sign of aggression. Only fondness. How good of you to be out first. Find anything worth looking at? A bunch of milkdrinkers, this lot. Not at all what I'd expected, or hoped for at all. She gave a playful n** at her sister, before turning it into a nuzzle.

Now, let's find you yours so I know you're safely matched. She cooed affectionately, waiting for her sister to let her up. Any other dragon would have met her teeth, but not this one. Her favorite.

"Oh no!" Kinye managed to squeak as one green lunged upon the other - only for the other to lunge back in sweet and rather gentle seeming play. Just as quickly as worry had come in, she pat her chest and sighed with some relief. "Oh, they're just playing! They're good dragons, of course," she was reassured to this, though now she felt bad she'd ever suspected.

And then another egg split with a nervous, but very handsome, blue stumbling onto the sands. "Oh! Do you think he'll be for you?" she asked, squeezing Ionan's hand.

He watched the tumbling greens with a mix of interest and a reinstated interest in keeping out of the way of their games. A task that would potentially get more difficult as another dragon made their way onto the sands - a blue who didn't seem quite ready to look them all over yet.

Nobody is going to bite. You can come closer.

Unless of course it was going to bite.

His arm was yanked hard, snapping him out of it only to watch as the greens started rolling. The red head pulled away from Jagmund and just puffed in order to get closer to the dragonets. He would have said thank you, but honestly he was more startled at the sudden distance between him and the dragons again.

"Nooo..." It was lightly said, more of a whine, wanting to pet over them both. Not while they were moving, of course, but he really liked the Solid Pink one. She had been so friendly.

Never mind his pants were now on the sand somewhere and he was standing in just a long shirt and his underpants. "Oh well... Have fun dragonets!"

Bronze Yudueth

Lifting his head to his full height, not at all bothered by the weight that was setting between the knobs on his head, the bronze at least could get her high enough to see what she wanted. Though he was short length wise for a bronze Yudueth was able to stretch his head up far above that of all but the largest bronzes and golds.

This will be a lively clutch I think.

Moving as if she could push Erastan a bit behind her, Etansi watched the two grappling greens for the brief spat that they had. She'd been interested in the actions of the red-eyed green since she'd hatched, but she was feisty and certainly showed more promise than the others that had hatched so far.

"I like her..." the small girl ground out in her gravely voice. "Has fight."

“They’re good dragons,” Ionan repeated, and nudged Kinye gently. “I think that gold’s the one for you!” He always assumed the best for his sibling, she deserved that gold. She deserved to be the happiest on all Pern.

“Oh, maybe!” He agreed. “Whatever color my dragon is, it’ll be the best dragon. And yours will be, too.”

Oh, it looked like Renose Impressed! Maybe that’d put him in a better mood. “That’s the grumpy guy I told you about.”

When the Solid Pink Green impressed, the red-head couldn't help but coo and giggle. He looked around and saw several of the adults sort of looking at him and then away and he realized he felt a breeze upon his legs that hadn't been there before.

With another yelp, he dove into the sand, did a roll to grab his pants and then hurriedly put them back on. It was bad enough he wasn't in proper dress. He had to sneak around to get out here like that, but getting properly dressed would have cost him so much more time! He'd have missed this impression! With his cheeks nearly as red as his hair, Beligian held fast and firm to his trousers to keep them up.

"Oops."

Of course, by this time the ever smiling red-head was looking around and a bit of blue popped out among the sand. Hello hello.

So he waddled his way over toward the newly hatched blue. His attention span had completely forgotten about poor Jagmund in all the hub-ub of the Hatching.

Akaris

Akaris sniffed, her emotions gradually sliding from frightened to offended, now that the green had moved on to other things and was a safe distance away. That had really been uncalled for, talking to her like that! Not everything she'd said had been horrible, but..but...there were better ways to say things! Now pouting, more than anything, she nodded in response to Rylyrr, and dislodged herself enough to do as he suggested and brush off her hat.

"I'm fine," she said, fingers flicking grit off her poor hat. A'ral had given it to her, and let her wear it even if it wasn't standard Hatching-wear. She did her best to get most of the sand off and coax it back into the right shape before she put it back on, sandy or not. Stupid green!

It was her own fault for not watching where she was going. It was silly and daft and there was no excuse for it, really, and if Hesperith had been paying better attention instead of admiring all the handsome males and cooing over the babies, her dragon probably would have scolded her - and not just for not paying attention to her surroundings, but for turning tail and running from further interaction with a ranking rider. A bronzerider. How embarrassing.

As it was, Sylfie had no idea whatsoever she had almost walked into someone - and/or been walked into? - until that someone had laready realized what she hadn't and babbled a startled apology as he took a step back out of her space. Or to...regain his? She looked up at him in wide-eyed, mortified alarm, opened her mouth, shut it again, gulped. Stared. Felt horrible. Just...the worst. Could today get worse?

At even more of a loss for words than usual, she did eventually squeak out, "I'm s-sorry. I...wasn't looking."

As if that wasn't obvious.

Turned out that the beautiful little green that had taken a shine to the two of them actually chose Renose! Riz grinned at him and offered a pat on the only section of unburned skin that he could find.

"Congratulations! She's beautiful!" Riz offered and moved back so that his friend and his new bonded would have all the space they needed to do their thing.

"Oh! Oh it looks like she impressed!" Kinye had barely gotten the words out of her mouth when her brother mentioned his impression of the boy who was now a greenrider - namely in that he'd talked about him before. She considered this for a moment, before smiling cheerily.

"Well he's got a beautiful green now! No need to be grumpy over a girl like her!" she said brightly.

But then another egg began to move!

"Oh! Look look!" she eagerly pointed towards the Ducky Egg. Was it another metallic? A bronze to go with the gold that was trying to hatch?
