"Don't worry about it," said Tianara easily. "It's not a big deal - Narcis agreed to help me look for clothes later. You don't have to do that for me." She tucked her hair behind her ear, smiling a bit at Katalina's impatience.
"Hi," replied Katalina briefly with her own smile at Joshua. "That chained thing? Is he still--?"
Narcis surfaced beside her. "Cousin," he began, his eyes a mixture of amusement and anger. She held up a hand to hush him, continuing her thought. "Is he still around? What does he have to do with this?" She looked from Nezik to Tianara to Joshua, worry in her gaze. "I think you have a bit more to tell me."

"Alright, we need to get moving" he said. He hated to urge people to do something, as it was not his nature, but this was pressing matters. Mac did have a sense of justified leadership when certain situations happened. "My home is also safe, just in case we need to use it" he said.

"One sec Mac." Joshua croushed down so that he wasn't towering over Katalina. "We haven't seen the chained thing, but it occured to us that he seemed to know a lot about what was coming." Suddenly he snapped his fingers. "That's what you can do Jinx. If you're so eager for something to do, why not take a look around and see if you can find this chained creature. It'd be helpful it we knew where he was or what he was doing."

Jinx looked amused. "All right. I doubt he's around anymore, since we're not eager to fight, but we can but try. C'mon, Nezik," she said. "Let's go find the chained thing. Hopefully he's drowned under the weight." Nezik didn't seem to object to being ordered around by the Siren, and the two were off at fairly high speed.
Katalina looked after them. For a second, there was a slow, dawning awareness in her eyes. Then she shook it off with a slow grin. "Well, how about that," she mused. Narcis shot her a look, and she rolled her eyes.
"Cousin," he repeated in irritation. "You won't do anyone any good still wounded. Let the healer look after you."
Katalina glared at him. "That idiot? Narcis, you know more about proper healing techniques than he does! I'm not putting myself in his hands, not even for you. It'll heal on its own."
Tianara, shaking her head slightly, tapped Joshua on the shoulder and jerked her thumb towards Mac. "Let's leave them to it," she said in an undertone. "I have no doubt one of them will win without too much bloodshed."

((Umm....The way to town is through a small path through the trees. There's a set of large cliffs with some nasty currents that seperate Allen and Joshua's home beaches.))
Joshua grinned, watching the exchange between Katalina and Narcis. Nodding at Tianara, he stood up again. "Good idea." He said with a laugh. "Come on Mac. Now we can go." Grinning, Joshua lead the way across the beach and into the woods. He was leading the pair along a small but clearly visible trail. It wasn't long before they could hear the town up ahead. Finally, they emerged from the trees on the far side of the town. "Come on. We need to cross the town. Allen doesn't exactly live in town. Most people consider him a little weird." He admitted with a sheepish smile. Without hesitation, Joshua plunged into the town, knowing exactly where he was going.

Tianara matched his stride, trying not to flinch away from the occasional stares - it was obvious that some of these people weren't used to seeing strangers, especially strangers like her. "I'm never going to be able to make a life on land, am I?" she murmured, glancing at Joshua. Although by now she'd almost mastered the coordination required for walking, she still had a somewhat strange gait. That, her clothing, and her odd, albeit musical, accent made her stand out.
Thinking back to Katalina and Narcis, she smiled. "They really do suit, don't they?" she asked, mostly for her own benefit, to take her mind off the strange looks she was receiving.

((Well I didn't know that. So just ignore the last post I made then sweatdrop ))
As Mac followed, he watched his surroundings and learned the new path. He was just curious to see this new person.

Joshua was ignoring the looks the pair recieved. Most of the town knew he lived alone so they were wondering were Tianara had come from. "You'll be fine Tianara. Don't worry. It'll just take some getting used to." He assured her. He knew the girl was smart. She'd be able to handle life on land, though it might be a little awkward at first. He glanced at her and smiled reasuringly then accepted her change of topic. "And yes they do suit. As long as they don't kill each other." He chuckled at the thought of the stubborn pair.

Tianara knew he was trying to reassure her, and appreciated it. But she didn't really believe him. People were so confusing! Although she supposed that most humans would think the same about the merfolk. Eventually, she thought, maybe she would be able to understand both. "They'll be fine," she said easily. "They're too stubborn to take the easy way out by killing each other. Although I think Sorry will have a hard time accepting the fact that she and her father ended up on the same page for once."
Drumming her fingers on her thigh as they walked, she asked, "So, who are we going to see?"

Joshua laughed, shaking his head. "I suppose that's true." Shaking his head, he turned down a side street. They were halfway across the town by now. "We're going to see a friend of mine by the name of Allen. For never having met any of the merfolk, he certainly knows a lot about them. Most people think he's crazy though. Anywaysm he collects merthings - Statues, carvings, paintins, stories. I learned a lot from him when I moved here." He moved through the town with confidence. "Allen and his granddaughter have been here longer than I have. They've lived beside the ocean their whole lifes. I believe Allen's whole family lived by the water. Most of his family were fishers."

Tianara's eyes grew mildly grim. "Fishers?" she asked quietly. She had spent her whole life being taught to be wary of fishers. After a second, she shook her head mildly. It was unlikely that Joshua would put her in danger, even accidentally. If he was taking her and Mac to see this Allen, then Allen was probably safe. "All right," she said. "What are we going to ask him about? Or are we just going to listen to his stories?" Pausing, her voice lowered a bit. "Are we going to tell him about Sorry and Jinx and Caralei and the others?"

"Well, I wouldn't eat fish, and I'm more of a seaweed person anyways" commented playfully.
Mac looked at them, "He seems rather interesting" he said. He looked at Tianara, "People today are more used to things being weird and strange than in the past. The youth especially is enacting change, but the older generations of humans are less likely to accept change. Its strange really, because change will always happen, and the new generation will always take over the older generation" he said calmly. "Even though I get weird stares often, I just smile. Most people confuse me for a cute girl, even by voice" he smiled at his comment and scratched his head. "Just be yourself, and people will accept that".

Joshua noticed the change in Tianara. "Sorry. I forgot you moight not like fishers. Anyways, he's too old to fish now. And his family was always careful about their equipment." He glanced over at Mac, nodding at the boys words. "That's right. Though Allen does take some getting used to. So why do you want to see someone who knows the mertales?" Joshua wasn't sure what Mac had in mind. Either way, it would be nice to visit the old man again. "As for telling Allen about the others...." He paused, considering it. "I don't think you'll find anyone better to tell. Everyone already thinks he's crazy so if he tells, no one will believe him. Not that I think he'll tell. Actually, I think he'd be overjoyed to find out he was right."

Tianara blinked at Mac. "Well, maybe so," she said at last, "but I'm very strange. I think I'm more worried about understanding them than having them understand me." At Joshua's words, she smiled timidly. "That's all right. If they were careful, and didn't take too much," she said softly. "And I think we should tell him. Maybe he can help us, or know something we can do to protect them. And even if he can't..." She shrugged a bit. "If it won't hurt the seafolk, I don't see why we shouldn't make an old man's dreams come true."
