Mac closed his eyes and grinned slightly, "Because anyone who knows much about the mermaid from the past, a.k.a. my past existence, he should know who are the descendants from her" he explained as he walked along side with them.

"You're smart Tianara. You'll understand them." Joshua waved one hand, unconcerned. They approached the edge of the town now. Without pausing, he plunged into the trees along another small path. "We'll be making Allen ecstatic. He would never hurt the seafolk. He just might know the mermaid you're talking about. I've never met anyone who knows more." They walked along the path until they reached a clearing, set a small ways back from the shore. Unlike Joshua's little shack, Allen had a full two story house. Most of the upper rooms were storage as the house didn't have a basement, being so close to the water. Cupping his hands over his mouth, Joshua called out. "Allen! I brought some guests for you to meet!"
A wrinkled, half-bald head peeked out of one of the windows on the main floor. A huge grin was spread across Allen's face. "Joshua! Welcome back! Come on, come one! Bring your friends in!" The old man waved the trio on. Ducking back inside, Allen quickly went around to open the door for them.
Finally, Aria sighed. "There's nothing to be learned from simply staring at the ocean." She murmured to herself. Turning, the girl began the descent back down the cliffs. It took awhile, but she'd done this climb many times. Once back on the shore, she took off her sandals again. The girl walked along the shore, letting the wavelets break over her feet. Aria was slowly making her way back to her home.

Mac walked into his house, and his eyes lit up, "Oh my gosh" the words escaped his lips. His house had so many amazing objects. Mac felt like a kid in a candy shop.

Joshua entered the house behind Mac, grinning. "Amazing isn't it? Allen not only knows about the merfolk, but he collects too."
Allen grinned at Mac's expression. "My treasures!" He said simply, spreading his arms to gesture to everything. Everywhere one looked, there was something about merfolk. No surface was left untouched or uncovered by the passion of his life. "My life's work to collect them. The man was still wearing his flowery dusting apron, making it easier to see why people assumed he was crazy by simply looking at him. "Now, what can I do to help you young folk? What's on your mind today, Joshua?"
Joshua shook his head, still smiling. "Not me today. Mac wanted to ask you some questions. I figured you're the local treasure trove of knowledge." It was easy to see why Joshua got along with the old man - They were both crazy about the merfolk.

Mac looked back at Allen, "Yes, I was wondering if you know anything about the mermaid from the legends long ago" asked a wondering Mac.

Allen finally remembered that he was wearing the flowery apron. "Oh, excuse me for a moment." Reaching behind himself, he untied the apron then hung it up. "Cleaning my treasures you see. Now, which mermaid are we talking about? I know several." He rubbed his hands together, grinning. It was obvious Allen was in his element now. "There's Altrea, who saved her clan from a kraken. Or there's Mitar - She was a healer who helped stop the spread of a sickness. Or my personal favorite - Listaria. Now this mermaid, she was said to have married a human."
Aria eventually made her way back towards the house. Leaving her sandals on the porch, she walked in. She was surprised to see others in the house. "Oh! Joshua. Welcome back! And friends! I'm Aria." She spoke, her sea-green eyes sparkling happily. The girl liked Joshua - He was able to deal with her grandfather didn't think that he was crazy. And any friends of his were friends of hers.

Mac quickly replied, "The one who married a human". Mac heard the girl's voice, and turned to see her. His eyes lit up and he admired her beauty. "Hi, My name is Mackenzie, but everyone calls me Mac" he says.

((Okay, so maybe I had some fun with the legend.....Long post....))
Aria waved at Mac, then caught sight of her grandfather's face. "You asked him about the legends again, didn't you?" She groaned good naturedly. "Well, come on then. Let's get comfy." Smiling, she plopped down on one end of a couch. The girl motioned around the room. There was two more spots on the couch, a pair of comfy looking chairs, and a smaller, two person couch. Despite his reputed craziness, the locals still came to hear stories from time to time, so Allen had stocked up on seats.
Joshua seated himself on one seat of the smaller couch. "Come on you two." He gestured for Tianara and Mac to be seated. "It's been awhile since I heard this one, but I still love it." He couldn't remember all the details and he knew that was what Mac wanted. So, he'd brought the boy to Allen - Who was sure to know the details.
Allen quickly claimed on of the chairs for himself. It was his "story telling" chair. It was position so that it faced all the other seats in the room. "Ah, so it's Listaria you want to hear about." He settled back in the chair, watching them all. As soon as they were all settled, he began. "This particular legend is said to have take place somewhere along this very coast. The mermaid, Listaria, was breathtakingly beautiful and had many suitors. She turned them all away though. For from the water, she'd watched the humans and had fallen in love. She saw this human from time to time as he went out with the fishing fleet. Alas, Listaria thought it was never to be and thus tried to move on with life." Allen was a true story tell, his voice quiet yet easy to hear.
"Her clan though, had a dispute with a nearby clan. Listaria, as the daughter of the leader, was used as a messanger. Through her diplomatic skills she was able to restore peace between the two clans before real fighting broke out. Her father decided to give her a reward and asked her what she wanted. Listaria replied - 'You'll give me whatever I want? Anything? You promise?' Her father was confused, but promised to give her whatever she wanted. That was when she told him. 'I want to become human. Permanently.' At first her father raged and roared but he had promised and eventually gave in. The mermaid went to the shore where her father cast the spell to make her human. Forever. Listaria searched the town and finally found the man she had fallen in love with. When the man saw her, he instantly fell in love with her beauty. They dated for awhile, then he asked for her hand in marriage. Listaria was overjoyed and accepted right away. The two were married as soon as possible and enjoyed a full life. The man never knew his wife had been a mermaid." Allen settled even farther back in his chair, smiling. "Such a lovely story, no? You can see why it's my favorite."

((Nope!. Joshua's still all alone. Katalina hooked up with Narcis though. There's maybe possibly hints of Nezik and the new character Jinx. The rest of the characters, Allen, Aria, and Mac, are all alone as well. Well, Allen's wife died awhile ago though.))

((OOC: O.o Was I that blatant? razz ))
Tianara had entered silently behind the boys, and was now scanning the area with a look of quiet fascination. When Aria entered, she started slightly, looked back and smiled shyly. She tentatively took a seat beside Joshua, feeling uncomfortable too far from the people she knew. As she listened to the legend, her eyes grew soft and dreamy. She could picture it - the lovely mermaid, the human she loved. It was beautiful.
More to distract herself from melting into a pile of romantic mush than anything else, she shook her head a bit and glanced around the room. Her eyes fell on a particular statuette that looked so much like her mother that her breath caught. She rose, and went to take a closer look. Reaching out, her finger traced the statuette's face without quite touching it. "She could have been the model," she breathed, momentarily unaware that anyone else was in the room. "It looks just like her."

((Nah, I'm just that good. xd ))
Joshua listened with rapt attention. As many times as he'd heard it, he still loved the story. "Tianara?" He asked curiously when she stood up.
Allen watched as the girl reached out towards one of his statues. He grinned, pleased that she liked it. "Gorgeous, isn't she? Don't be afraid to touch." His stuff was there for everyone to see and examine. He breathed in sharply when he heard her words. "What do you mean - 'She could be the model'? Who? Who are you talking about?" He demanded excitedly. Did these kids know something? Had they met a mermaid that looked like the statue?

Mac listened to the story as it was told, almost feeling though his memory was being played out again from forgetting it long ago. Like when you put your belongings in a box and dig it up 50 years later to remember what you did. He looked out into space, "So does she have any descendants?" he asked.
